I came to this store with my fiancé, the allure of the vintage turquoise interior drawing me in! We were looking for high quality vintage wedding bands on a chilly Saturday morning in April. Alan and his lovely wife Denise were so warm and friendly - not pushy or selling me in any way. I showed them a picture of what I wanted- they didn't have exactly what I was looking for (a yellow gold band with Victorian diamond star pattern) but showed me some other beautiful delicate bands. Some of the other shops in the diamond district have a bad stale smoke odor or cheesy elevator music - both are a big turn off. Thankfully this shop does not...so we stayed, breathed easily, and looked at everything he had. Alan brought out another box from the back and showed me more vintage rings like I had asked. He was very patient and a good listener without pressuring us. They have a solid collection of vintage and more modern bands. They also said they could make the ring I wanted if I couldn't find the vintage one. After we narrowed our selection to our top choices we needed to think about it without a growling tummy. We live in Brooklyn, so Alan gave us a great suggestion in the area for brunch. I ended up falling in love with a 1940s style with 5 diamonds across that didn't even need to be re sized! It fit perfectly! My fiancé found a classic yellow gold vintage Tiffany band -very hard to find ! And we had been looking in Philly, NYC, and Brooklyn for exactly that! Several of their friends or repeat clients came in during our time here which made us appreciate the good relationships he has with his clients- they also have a stack of thank you cards from happy customers! He put our rings in the steam cleaner without taking the "vintage appeal" away- just to brighten up the diamonds and the bands and said if we needed to resize for any reason he was happy to do it for free. Then gave us our treasures in pretty navy blue boxes as well as some Jewerly cleaner. I would definitely come back and take a look at his vintage mens and women's watches from the 1960s/70s and older. They do have an etsy shop but they have much more stock in the store so I suggest you come in and take a look in person! It's a small business that has honest prices and they're good people. I had seen a lovely vintage engagement ring on ETSY and when I found out that this business had a storefront, I couldn't resist going. I am so happy that I did. The owners, Denise and Alan couldn't have been nicer to deal with and their jewelry is really special. They have a nice collection of vintage and antique pieces and some lovely vintage eternity bands. My ring is absolutely gorgeous and just what I was looking for. I highly recommend this business. I first walked into Associated Diamond Brokers two months ago. I had already visited three other jewelers in Philly and was planning on visiting several more that afternoon. I was just starting to get a vague picture of the rock I was looking for for my completely unsuspecting girlfriend, but I certainly was light years away from being any kind of an expert. I did not come across Associated Diamond Brokers by happenstance. It was recommended to me by my girlfriend's sister and her husband (they were in on the proposal hush-hush from the beginning). In fact, the first time I went to Philly with the intent of going ring shopping, my GF's sister's husband walked around with me and showed me the ropes. It was up to me, obviously, who I would choose to buy a ring from. Upon meeting the shop owners, Alan and his wife Denise, I was immediately at ease. They were friendly, courteous, extremely helpful, and very understanding of the fact that I was not quite sure what I was looking for. Over the course of the next two months, I made two more trips to Philly and worked closely with Alan and Denise who actually designed the perfect engagement ring for my (hopefully) fiancée to be. It was a long process but I wouldn't have it any other way. There are plenty of places where you can just walk in and pick up any old ring but why would you want to do that? Personally, I wanted something special for my lady and I was over-the-moon pleased with the end result. When it was finally time to pop the question, I was nervous of course. But I like to believe that I was a little less nervous knowing that this jewel of a ring I was about to spring on her would light up her morning. Long story short... she said YES. Boo yah! Take that, High School me! Unfortunately, when you are proposing to a girl who doesn't know it is coming, you will have some difficulty trying to figure out her ring size. What I did was I stole a few of her rings from when she was a teenager (she doesn't wear any jewelry these days... except the engagement ring now!!) and Alan was able to discern her size the best that he could without actually having her finger to measure. As it turned out, the ring is a little on the big size for her so we will be going back to Associated Diamond Brokers in a few weeks for a resizing.
