Artisan sandwiches! We stopped in this cafe/delicatessen/gourmet food and wine shop for a quick lunch in Assisi. We had delicious sandwiches made with "torta al testo" (a traditional Umbrian flatbread cooked in a skillet or griddle rather than in the oven). We loved the combinations suggested by the helpful man behind the counter - prosciutto, grilled zucchini, caramelised onion and pecorino; and capocollo, grilled eggplant, truffle sauce and soft mild cheese - the ingredients were super high quality and tasty.
