I didn't get to try the food or even see the menu but there's an impressive looking kitchen so hope to return for that at some point (actually have now found menu online and as well as a grill they have a big sushi menu!!) Drinks wise, they had Antica Formula vermouth! The bartender had NO IDEA what it was or how to serve it but we quickly got the ice/lemon/appropriate glass sorted and although it might seem expensive at £4.50 for 50ml it's a good alternative to wine for an aperitif. Prosecco was £22 a bottle which wasn't bad either. I thought the ale selection was a little limited although and I couldn't work out what the microbrewery aspect was (curiously they only seem to have a wine menu even though they have an extensive amount of fancy sprits which you can't see properly). As the evening (Saturday) wore on it became increasingly busy and uncomfortable to sit at the bar with people bashing past you to get their order - they probably need to move some of those chairs on busy nights (/you might want to try another option - amazingly the market was actually quieter by that point!).

Our server Alison was very friendly, we had a laugh with her and she was great at her job. We had a mixture of different starters and mains, favourites being the ham and eggs, the steak pie and butchers block.Prices were very reasonable and food very tasty, I would definitely return a nice atmosphere too for a quiet Saturday late lunch.

The décor is pretty sleek and stylish considering that they focus mostly on British cuisine. I liked how each table had a twee cutlery container - Spam, Lyle's Golden Syrup etc. There are large bi-folding windows for al fresco dining (which was perfect considering the current warm weather), and also an open kitchen where you can see the chefs in action. The staff are welcoming and attentive without being in your face, making helpful suggestions when asked. Menus change frequently, so don't rely on the website in case they haven't updated - but trust that whatever you choose will be very good quality, which is cooked and served to perfection. My lamb steak was superb and my dining companions commented that their desserts were the best they've had in a very long time. The Fat Loaf is the current leader for great dining in the Sale area, by a long margin. I'll be returning as soon as I can!

Just before I nearly leaned over and hugged him, I said, 'We were wondering if we could get one portion of - ' 'I can do you a half portion of mash and peas on each plate and a pot of gravy if you're sharing.' Get out of my head, Mr Amazing Pi Dude! Pieminister pies are always good, but the way they're served can have a certain level of influence. These were done brilliantly... minted mushy peas, vegetarian gravy, the pies perfectly halved and warmed, buttery delicious mash, and it didn't take long to arrive either. When one's got the swimming pool/caffeine tremors and it's cold outside only a pie will do, and this is now my favourite place to come for my fix. Plus, all four flavours of Timmermans? On the same menu as Delirium? Reasonable prices? Are you trying to *kill* me?

Pi gets it right on all of the above and was one of the nicest spots I've hit while in Chorlton. Situated just opposite from Unicorn, the bar is kind of like sitting in a shop with high risen full fronted windows and probably wouldn't sit more than 40 people throughout. For us it was perfect as there was a group of 8 who could easily take a load off on a Friday night and chat with the music not too loud and at 11pm'ish - not too busy as well. They have exciting and interesting beer menu's on each table with the usual suspects from Belgium, the U.S craft beer revolution and local and UK ales on the pumps towards the back. The staff were friendly and fitted in perfectly with this being a kind of place you might pop out of your house for one before heading home to get on with family life. I love these neighbourhood places, I could just do with living nearby to do this... Due to eating at the nearby Tibetan Kitchen, I didn't get the chance to try their pies but they're all from the excellent pieminister so I'd highly recommend getting one if you're in there through the day!

The @worsleyoldhall is a great historic building with a great old English pub and restaurant inside. Great staff there! Ate at the bar and had a great time chatting with them while enjoying a pint or two and great traditional fare. Started with Italian mixed olives well, just because! Went with chicken liver pate with carrot and apricot chutney and never heard of toasted bloomers but it's a nice crusty bread and the combination of the three was amazing in between sips of a great local beer. For the main course had the roasted pheasant breast stuffed with wild boar and apricots. Had a celeriac (celery) purée and juniper gravy. It was a cold rainy evening and this was such a delicious mix of flavors. The boar and pheasant complimented each other so well and the apricots and gravy and purée made every bite moist and flavorful. Was wishing I saved one piece of bread to clean the plate! Last, finished with sticky toddy pudding that was a surprise. I never knew older rustic desserts were referred to as pudding. Came with a toffee sauce to pour over along with a scoop of ice cream and was a perfect finish. Just a short walk with a full belly to the hotel next door. No trouble sleeping after that hearty English dinner and good company by the staff there. If you're in the area add it to the list! Beautiful historic building, great food and drink, great people!

Seven of us rolled in. We got a fantastic Sunday lunch at this out-of-town place…read more They had an extensive range of menus and various deals like 'golden years' (I don't know what's golden about them) and kids deals, but we focussed on the carvery lunch. I think there were at least three carvery meal sizes to choose from. I opted for the large at about a tenner (£10) and I was able to choose from four different hot meats. The hot meat choices were turkey, gammon, pork and beef. I could have added £1.99 or so to get two pigs in blankets (bacon wrapped pork sausages) but I declined. I got two Yorkshire puddings with the meats and set off to choose my cooked vegetables from one heck of a choice; roast, mashed & garlic potatoes, stuffing, carrot & swede, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, Brussels sprouts (a real favourite of mine) lots more veg choices, Colman's English mustard (5 stars alone) a rich gravy, an onion gravy and I'm sure I left something out too. It would be easier to say what's not there and I can only think of pepper sauce. I'd been warned off ordering the mega carvery, which apparently includes a giant, plate - sized Yorkshire pudding that the rest of the meal is put into. As if it couldn't get any better they had real ale. So I had a pint of Abbot (I think) ale; they also had Old Specked Hen (they could call it Golden Years speckled hen). The prices are reasonable, the seats comfy and mega friendly staff, oh and there's lots of parking and a play area for kids. Well worth supporting.
