Yesterday, a lower front tooth suddenly "crashed" It needs immediate attention . First I called my insurance and they gave me a list of verified dentists. From their list, I chose Aspen on 7th and Bell and gave them a call. A super sweet lady verified my insurance and scheduled me for 8 this morning. I arrived at 7:30 to ensure paperwork was complete but they literally do not open their door till 8. There were about 6 of us waiting. The woman that seemed "in charge" at the desk first spoke to a man clear across the room telling him he owed $699. I was stunned she would discuss his finances so publicly. Then, she called my name. I went up to the counter where she "oh so sadly" told me that my insurance was not verified there and since it was Saturday, she could not verify me. She was talking so everyone in the room could hear her! I explained that all of this was done on Friday. It was verified by both Blue Cross AND with the woman that I scheduled with. But again, SO sadly, she said they couldn't help me today. A DENTIST was sitting there and she, too, reiterated that my insurance wasn't good at that office, again, where everyone could hear my private business. Unbelievably unprofessional on both parts. Now, on their window AND on their website and on their phone while you are waiting, you are told that walk ins and emergencies are welcome. I was not offered a chance to pay then, pay later, or get treatment until my insurance was REVERIFIED. Nothing. So I left in search of an actual professional office. Then, as I was driving home, the office manager called me back. She tried to apologize for this horrendous behavior, but did she really think I'd walk back in after being humiliated like the first man? She tried to "help" me find another Aspen but as I look at reviews, I realize, this is not a trustworthy company. Of course, I told her no. I could have been more polite to her. She was trying to right a wrong, but I think it is clear their standard procedures are not high quality, so i will suffer today as I hunt for someone reliable. read more

I should have read the reviews first. I imagine this is the place where someone who was jacked up to get their teeth fixed. The office was cold, dark, and I felt like a tetanus shot. I got my x-rays first and good Lord. They had me sit in a chair they must have picked up from an office complex from the 80s. I go in for the hygienist "measures" my teeth and gums. She comes in and she is on level 12. She was loud and obnoxious. She did absolutely nothing to reduce my anxiety. She starts poking and prodding in my mouth. Yelling numbers. Then she tells me I need a dental procedure. I told her no. She doubles down. I had to get stern. By that time it was awkward. I didn't want to be there anymore. I told her I wanted to leave. This what I imagine dental offices look like in Mexico. Employees are pushy. Loud and obnoxious. The office should be condemned. The employees need training in customer service. I went over to 7th and Bell Dental Group. They couldn't get me in till the 20th. Do you know how comforting that is. Please, I explore you to avoid this place like the plague. I had an 8:30 am appointment today. I showed up 10mins early. I was told my appointment was at 8am and they couldn't accommodate me. I don't drive. That means I have to Uber there and back. They've rescheduled me for tomorrow but that just means more Uber fares. I have the email they sent proving my appointment was at 8:30am. Needed help with tooth pain. After X-rays there appeared to be micro crack. I was seen by Prarthana Krishnananda. She wanted to do a cold blast "as part of the diagnosis". Having experienced that in the past, I knew that it would hurt, so I declined to have that done. She used one of the mirror instruments and looked around some more. Then while talking to me about future options, she took the metal handle of that tool and smacked it against the bad ...and now fully cracked...tooth. Everyone at this location is aextremely aggressive. They make it seem like you're going to lose your teeth if you don't schedule all of your appointments one after the other, which, of course, worried me. Thing is, I have a full-time job which can't have me using PTO super frequently, so I felt like I was in a bind. It was after a google search that I realized that I was going to be fine if I waited a week or two for each appointment. The dental practitioners were also very aggressive as well. One wouldn't let me take a call when it was important, because she had to "get things moving along". She literally wouldn't let me take the call. Do not get dentures from this location. I paid 14000 to get dentures. I have insurance but my insurance didnt cover my "comfi dentures" OR THE ORAL SURGEON SO i had to fight because they wanted another 5000$! That took a year to get fixed. The dentures hurt my mouth and Ive gone back repeatedly wanting a refund for them. I loved the dentists personality and she kept telling me theyd keep working with me no matter how long it took. Finally last March the dentist told me I needed a reelignment or something and changed the gasgets in the lower denture and the office mgr tells me what needs to be done isnt covered by the five year guarantee. I srated I wanted a refund as they never fit and had been hurting since I got them. The dentist came in and said I wouldnt have to pay but she was hoing on vacation. I was not able to get in due for months but needed the implants cleaned so I called to make an appt for the reelignment or whatever I was told needed to be redone free of charge. I explained I have advanced kidney disease and a lot of pain so to come to appts U have to take ibruphrophen which Ive been told never to taje. Since Id be sitting there all day waiting for dentures I asked could you clean them while I wait. I was told my dentitist moved to Venezuala a d I needed a dental exam and then tge dentist would have me come back to do any wirk and my implant cleaning had to be done on another day. I asked to talk to the office mgr and she told me the things wouldnt be covered now! I called the 800# and a regional mgr was supposed to call within 2 hours. Its beeb days and no call. I could go on with much more sych as how I was completely misled and not informed throughout about the dentures and how I had uncintrolled bleeding and was told to go to the ER after my oral surgery done in the office. It has been a total nightmare! I could have gotten dentures with implants for 5K less at my fotner dentist but saw Id get a 20% discount in a tv ad at Aspen only now to find out every location is individually owned abd I got no discount! read more

The scheduling was convenient, that's where the positive review ends. The website indicates they open at 7:00 a.m.. At 7, the doors were locked until 7:45. Staff moved around the premises, and even a little dog could be seen in the back area, which seems suspect. It seems that the staff is not really paying attention to ensuring the doors are unlocked at the posted time, nor being on time. The front office staff didn't show up until 8:00. No explanation, no apology, she just walked by and stated she would be back. Realistically, the office staff may have informed the dental staff to cover, but the fact that I called to tell someone in the building that the door was locked is just inexcusable. I found another dentist much closer to me and I'm happy to write that I am much better off. Aspen is not a provider I feel I can trust. read more

Where should I begin? Perhaps the time I drove across town in rush hour traffic to go to a location not near me to see an oral surgeon who decided not to treat my tooth. This, after having paid in full. They assured me my refund would be automatic. It was not. After 60 days of waiting I went to the office nearest me to straighten it out and was told to have a seat and they would see me soon. More than an hour later, I asked if the person was available and it turned out they had FORGOTTEN I WAS EVEN THERE. They change your appointment time without notice or permission. It just shows up in the email a few days before the appointment. If YOU cannot accommodate THEM, you have to wait another month to get back on the schedule and hope they don't screw you over again in the meantime. There is the time they did not call my antibiotics to my pharmacy for seven hours and I had to call them and force the issue 20 minutes before the pharmacy closed. Meanwhile my face was distorted from an abscess and really shouldn't have to wait another 24 hours to begin meds. Now, the last straw, they have hidden fees and are surprise billing for several hundred dollars AFTER you pay in full (or so you thought). Look elsewhere for dental care. The first visit, they said, is a "comprehensive exam and consultation" where the doctor and hygienist explain dentistry to you. When the Dental Assistant took me back and opened the crown container from the lab. Saw it was wrong immediately. After all the changed appointments, the most painful Dental visit I had ever had and an infection requiring antibiotics, they still charged me an additional $400. Called to make an emergency appointment because I was in pain. website said the Bell rd location is open on Saturday. Cal center did answer. she explained only some location are open Saturday. I arrive at my appointment on Monday and 2hrs into X-rays and consultations with nurse, hygienis, and dentist they try to schedule me for a root canal two week later! Why waste my time when I'm in pain, to schedule me two weeks later? They should not offer emergency appointments to people in pain to then still keep them waiting in pain for weeks. I can't even start to tell others of how I was treated after spending $4000 out of pocket for a set of dentures. The front office staff was so rude to me that they took my dentures put them in a Ziploc baggie with some water that had not been fitted to me yet and handed them to me over the receptionist desk in the waiting area where other patients watched as I was so embarrassed That my dentures were so out in open for all to see. I was refused to come back into the patient rooms to finish my fittings because the day before I was in, they asked me to come back the next day because they had to call in something to finish my fittings, but the front desk wouldn't let me back to see my Doctor Who is expecting me because my paid in full notification was not showing up on their computer so I was handed my unfinished dentures and told to go away and until I paid in full. I was so devastated. I walked around to the back of the building, and I sat on the steps holding my Ziploc baggie of dentures that I could never wear and just cried. My dentist happened to walk out to take her break and I asked her if she knew how I was just treated. She did not know, but she immediately took me back through the back door into a patient's room and finished what she had started. The receptionist in the front walked by the room that I was in and looked at me in pure disgust. Yeah. It took me a week and a half of calling corporate officers... being treated like I didn't matter and for my year long horrible experience with Aspen I was offered $100 in gas coupons. Very disappointed. I opted for the top of the line dentures costing $3,646.00. I went back several times for adjustments. At one point they did nothing and told me to just wear them and I'd get use to them. It never happened. I recently went back and was able to get them adjusted a little which helped a little. However I still can't wear them for more than 4 or 5 hours but have to remove them due to the soreness they cause. I made an appointment for additional adjustments 7/26/19 at 11:00. On 7/22/19 I received an email confirming the appointment. I got there 7/26/19 at 10:30 and was told I didn't have and appointment but if I wanted to wait about 2 hours they could get me in. Needless to say I left and don't plan on going back. UPDATE: On 7/29 I received a text from Aspen to schedule an appointment!!! I would also like to mention that on 7/23/18 I paid $3,646 for the "COMFILYTES" dentures. Since then they lowered the price to $2,918. I purchased top of the line dentures and received below the line dentures. At this point I must let go and let GOD make the final judgement. read more

I haven't been to the dentist in over 5 years so I was feeling like this experience wouldn't be my best. Nevertheless, they took great care of me and tended to me in a timely manner. I have not been a patient here because this company was exposed in PBS documentaries. In 2013 after an investigative report by the Center for Public Integrity and FRONTLINE, they found that Aspen Dental, which targets low-income patients, pressured dentists to increase revenue by using high-pressure sales techniques. Many patients complained of being overcharged or given unnecessary treatments. This is a large national company, and this is how they operate. Aspen Dental does a good job with teeth, but they have one of the stupidest policies regarding youth. My son is 17 years old, drives, has a job, and does sports. He cannot be at the dentist without me being in the building. I asked if I could walk to the adjoining store and keep my cell phone turned on. Came here because I had a change in insurance. This place treats you like cattle. They want to do several appointments just to clean your teeth. You can't get them cleaned on the first time? What?! Anyways, I just had a baby, I have never missed a cleaning and as with a lot of pregnancies your mouth changes. I was well aware of these changes but they want to make it into this whole thing. Like I need teeth scaling and a deep cleaning, yet they don't really tell you that. When I asked them what this cleaning was they called it gingivitis therapy, a straight up lie, it's a deep cleaning. I figured it out after looking at the paperwork and also seeing they try charging you $135 for an electric toothbrush... uh no thanks, I already have one. I called my previous dentist, mind you my last appointment was 4 months ago and they said no absolutely not, at my last appointment I hardly had any plaque at all to clean off let alone to do a deep cleaning and scaling procedure. I will pay out of pocket just to return to my old dentist. This place tries to scam you out of money and get procedures/cleanings done you don't need. This is bordering unethical. Just clean my teeth and let me get on with my day. They also you require you to pay half the fee up front just to schedule an appointment. What kind or sketchy chop shop is this place?! Also they don't verify your insurance prior to your appointment so after I was done I had to sit through another 30 minutes waiting for them to verify my insurance. I came here because I was having dental pain. I have several issues with how I was treated. First if all the the hygienists gloves (or something else in the room) smelled distinctly of mildew. Good start. Second Dr Niggam came in and referred to me as babe. As in, instead of by name, my name was Babe. I was so shocked and dumbfounded I didn't respond and he responded patted me on the shoulder...to make himself feel better about his inappropriate comment??? There were others in the room, by the way. I am a healthcare provider myself and would have been called to my licensing board to explain myself had I the audacity to speak to one of my patients that way. Third I was having pain all over and he took one quick look and decided my bridges which comprise a fraction of my mouth, were the cause of all my pain. He didn't explain anything. It seemed shiesty and it was. It didn't appeal to my logic. I went to have a second opinion and found out what was actually going on. I saw Dr Hagihat at Gentle Dental who was very professional and referred to me by name and spoke to me like a human being and got me in to see the Periodontist Dr. Adashek same day, who was also very professional and kind and took the time to explain in detail, and SHOW me as he did, why I was having a problem. And guess what, my problem is much more expensive than bridges, I need a surgery, but I plan to have it, because it's what I actually NEED. He drafted the quote himself with the various options we discussed, which didn't happen at Aspen. He was even so thoughtful as to consider whether I was nursing and how each option would affect my baby. If you want to be called babe and patted on the shoulder and have a 5 second consultation and shooed out the door then Aspen is for you. If not, try Gentle Dental, where, contrary to some reviews I read with apprehension, every single person I encountered was beyond professional. read more

*7th and Bell Location* Today was my first visit, and unfortunately my last. I walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable. There is no warmth in the office, the receptionist barely said hi. I was also asked for no ID- which is strange in the medical field when receiving any kind of treatment. I had made the appointment online for a "checkup" which the dental offices I had been with, prior to moving here, includes your cleaning. I was taken to one room to do an X-ray while standing up- which was fine. No big deal. Then I was taken to another room to do bite wing X-rays. The last dentist I went to had one area for X-rays and had the ability to do bite wings while in the treatment chair. I was then taken to the treatment room, where I thought my teeth were going to be cleaned, but they were not. The dentist came in, and looked at my teeth, told me what needed to be done and so on. Then a hygienist came in, which then I thought she was going to do the cleaning, but she also did not. She used the tool to check my gum pockets, and that was it. Told me what also needed to be done, but there was no teeth cleaning at all. The I asked the dental assistant Karen, if they were going to clean my teeth, and she said no they would have to check to see if the two hygienists had any openings, for cleaning which seemed completely crazy for what I thought this is what was supposed to have been scheduled. I then was walked into the Office Managers office to discuss my treatment- she was very nice, but the cost even with insurance and the work needing to be done seemed a little over the top. The main thing that bothered me....Cleanliness. The place was very DIRTY. Floors looked like it had never been mopped, or cleaned- mind you this is at 9 in the morning. The carpet in the hallway looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. Including equipment dirty. Also, in the treatment room, they are storing oxygen tanks??? The last dentist I had before here, everything was extremely clean and sanitized. The keyboards in the treatment rooms even have plastic on them. Everything I had been used to over the years was completely opposite of what I experienced. For any owners that read this, please Update the equipment, especially how the X-Rays are done, the waiting room should feel more inviting, especially new patients should feel more welcome. I'm not trying to sound uppity or high maintenance, but that office needs a good face lift. The pictures on Google if the office is NOWHERE near what the office looks like. read more

They pushed my appointment twice and not even 24 hours later or my surgery with gauze and blood still in my mouth I get 5 calls and 2 texts from credit company saying I'm late on a payment . I'm so sad this place turned out the way it did. I have a huge problem going to the dentist as I have terrible anxiety, and have no insurance. I was laughed at for how severe my teeth issues are and quoted double the amount then the last quote I got. When I was getting my xrays done the woman was playing with a kitten that had been brought into the office. I was left with equipment stuck in my mouth, very uncomfortable. When I was questioning them about the payment plan they "accidentally" added on an extra $10,000. I went there for an exam and x rays and ended up being at the office for 3 and a half hours. For years I was the afraid of the dentist type. I was in need of a root canal, a crown, and many fillings. Someone suggested to me that I go see Dr. Chan at Aspen Dental. I couldn't be happier! She was so professional. She explained everything I needed done in great detail in a relaxing way, which helped me keep calm to get all the work done that was desperately needed. Can't tell you much about the people here because I never ended up being seen. I had a 4:15 appt. I came In 15 min early with my new patient paperwork filled out as requested as to not slow down the process. At 4:50pm, I finally asked the front desk ladies what was going on and got some excuse about the machine and it would be about 10 min more. 5:20pm, I'm asking again what is going on and they are ready to see me but it will be 30-45+ for X-rays, exam and finance meeting. Apparently they were short a team member. I had a dinner to go to and had to leave. Please keep in mind, the sign in the lobby says if we are 10 min late, they will reschedule our appt!! Seriously. I spent 2 hours to get a free consultation on one front tooth repair. Aspen Dental kept me waiting in a chair till my behind was numb. Tried to clean and polish my teeth, even though I told them, just had a cleaning 2 months ago elsewhere with my regular dentist, only here for 1 front tooth. I was very clear about this when booking the appointment. Had to go back and redo xrays twice, leaving my mouth chewed up. Short Staffed was their only excuse. Had to keep reminding each new staff person why I had come in for a visit. Terrible communication, no one knows what they are doing in this office. No apologies. Bathrooms and waiting area dirty. Trash coffee cups left sitting around. Staff as unprofessional and as inexperienced as they come. Written estimate was $500 more than a specialist in Upper Scottsdale. I first went to Aspen Dental in may for a cleaning. After xrays and a general "exam" I was told they don't do cleanings on the first visit. I went for a cleaning, not a consult to then take MORE time away from my 9-5. First set an expectation if that's how you run your business. I mentioned I have been clenching my teeth just this year 2016. Never before. I was then told to see their recommended TMJ specialist and they wouldn't do a cleaning until I went there first. Huh? I never went to the TMJ specialist. But in August I woke one day and my face was swollen. I got in the next day and they said I had an infection that would cause me to make a choice of either a 2nd root canal in that tooth, or extract it and get a bridge. The costs were the same and their oral surgeon said it would be 50/50 on the root canal working. So I opted for the extraction. The surgeon who pulled my tooth was awesome. I'll give him that. He was extremely professional and walked me through the entire process before and during the procedure. While not his fauly, I will say this was the first tooth I eved had pulled and for 90 minutes I felt somewhat like I was in a horror movie with bone snapping noises. During the healing process in the next couple of days I felt a piece of sharp bone sticking out and it was causing the roof of my mouth to decay. I got back in there and they removed it. However, before the doc put the novacane shot in, the assistant girl put way too much numbing gel on my gum and it went down my throat. I realized it was impossible to swallow but they were long gone for 10 minutes while I sat on the side of the chair hoping to get my swallowing sensation back. Anyhow, they removed the piece of bone and it ended up healing nicely after that. I think they forgot to take this piece out to begin with. Then in December I go to get a cleaning, finally. The hygenist was by far the worst, and most painful experience I've even had at a dentist. My teeth and gums are very healthy for 53 years old, but there was a ton of blood from her water pic and scraping. Then she was literally fighting me when I was telling her about my xray before my tooth extraction in August. She was pointing me to the xray in May, when I went in for my cleaning, but then I asked if the tooth was infected and needed to be pulled in May...why didn't they do it then?! Why wait until August when my face was swollen? Ya...then she found the xray from August within the middle of the xrays from May. Long story short, besides the front desk girls who are cordial, and the office manager, who is nice and explains the money situation perfectly, the processes and the hygenist are horrible. If I could select a lower star I would. Stay away from this place. They can't get anything right in my opinion. My mother has been coming here for several months. Since her tooth removal surgery she's had a sore mouth and a set of denture that don't fit. They keep adjusting and refitting with no success. Here today to get the final set of dentures and they want us to start over because they don't them onsite. Mom was in Mesa when we started this procedure now she is back in north phx where they said no problem we'll send dentures to a office near you. Of course we get here and the dentures where never recieved and the Mesa office is closed today. So we have to come back again. Very unsatisfying experience. read more

Feel like they took advantage of me being young not knowing much . They were about to charge me 3,500k for a deep cleaning n two fillings went to another place for a second opinion . They said I dIdnt even need a deep cleaning and also said it wouldn't have been More then 1k if I did need one . read more

I had a very good experience. The free x-rays are a very generous deal & the technician who took them for me was patient & kind. In the end I wasn't able to get the treatment I needed, but they referred me to the right practice. This office has a very good team working. They went to task on my case and I do appreciate that, so I do recommend Aspen Dental. read more

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. They employ marketers not health care workers. The marketer named Maria at this Aspen used scare tactics and flat out lies to try to persuade my 21 year old daughter to have over 4,000 dollars worth of work done. This big cooperate company would of been proud of Maria. They also marketed the initial visit as free, when they actually billed our insurance and NEVER told her they were. I will be filing a complaint with the Arizona state dental society and the American Dental Association who has a code of ethics that should be followed. As a Nurse, it sickens me when a certain population is abused. My two daughters were both in the room when Maria came in and gave them the breakdown, she also told my daughter after my daughter asked if she could wait until the 14th (two weeks later)and I quote, "if you don't take care of this soon it will erode and fall out of your mouth", she was referring to a tooth that needed a root canal. She also suggested many other services that were not founded, by a specialist, I took her too see, after the Aspen charade. I spoke with Maria on the phone and she told me on the phone, " our clientele has a problem with making appointments and not showing up, that is why we charge so much....". I'm am sure Aspen caters to the uninsured and underinsured, because that is what bully's do, they pick on the vulnerable, but there is a code of ethics all health care workers and establishments need to employ regardless of social status. My daughter called Maria and asked them to file the consult as an error, since she was told it was free to her, she, as predicted, refused. Again, the corporate world would be proud. read more
