Been a loyal customer for years ever since they first opened. Probably my favorite Chinese chicken and crab rangoons I can get in the area and the lo mein is good. But I noticed sometimes on Sundays, Thursdays and other days they appear to be closed and the phone goes to an automated answering service even though it says they're only supposed to be closed on TUESDAYS. They seem to operate on their own schedule and should really update the site to reflect that so you don't have to try to call and get a dead line. Maybe they're on vacation or taking a leave Other than that they're open most holidays other places are usually closed and that's a great thing because I can't cook and don't have family that does either. If you're getting a combo just make sure to really specify what you want as a side because on rare occasions I've received the wrong thing so you might want to double check. Doesn't happen a lot but even still they put the new Canton Wok to shame I'd be willing to pay the fees to get them on DoorDash or GrubHub but I don't blame them for not wanting to get involved with that because those companies usually suck read more

I've been getting takeout from this place for about 5 years. It used to be very good, but the quality and consistency has totally gone down the tubes, especially in the past year. I ordered boneless spareribs the other day and they were the toughest, driest ribs I've EVER eaten. They were mostly bones, too. The sauce looks like blood to boot. I ate about 3 and threw them out. $11.25? What a ripoff. Also, I don't know how a restaurant can function without anyone who can speak English. You ask for something and they just smile. Ordered and was advised half hour to 45 minutes. An hour passed and called and they were just packaging it up 10 minutes. Turned into another 20. Not impressed with the food. Rice is mediocre as well as lo mein has no taste to it. Boneless ribs were good and flavorful. Four chicken balls for sweet and sour were also good. We have been ordering from Asian Taste for several years and for the most part we have always been very satisfied. The food is fresh, hot and tasty. We have had a couple of minor issues, which is expected as everyone hits a bump every now and again. When we have brought it to their attention they have been more than happy to correct it and have apologized for the inconvenience. Twice we have ordered two different dishes we have always ordered, and wound up with something similar. Our most recent order for Chicken Chow Mein tasted like Chicken Chow Mein (mostly) but contained veggies that are not usually in their CCM. One can only figure they had issue getting the ingredients and substituted them with others. In the past this dish has not contained peppers and onions but last time it did. If we had an allergy this could have been an issue. Another time we ordered Cashew Chicken and received a dish with peanuts that was very tasty but not what we ordered. The restaurant is small, and I believe they are geared towards take out. We have been there several times and the service can be a little slow. No one was in the dining area during our visits and we had to nock on the kitchen door. They have maybe six tables and they are on a treacherous intersection for parking. The staff does not speak English, except for a young man who is there sometimes. He knows some. You have to point to what you want on the menu, and you better not have any special instructions. Food allergies, dietary restrictions, forget it! They have two menus. The paper take out menu has half orders. They are also on Beyond Menu and they deliver. We have ordered several half orders to explore the menu. They gave us free soup. It seemed like egg drop soup with corn. Last time, they gave us a free dessert too. Kung pao chicken, shredded beef and noodles, cold spicy beef, fish soup, baby Shanghai, mei fun noodles. All good. The restaurant is empty, and they seemed happy to see us. Again, food comes out slow. Everyone I have seen come out of the kitchen is wearing street clothes. There is a little concern over hygiene but I will go back. Take out is appealing with the opportunity to try different things with half orders. You can order your food on line, which I am sure will help with the wait. To add on, we have also had the spicy crabs, bok choy, dry beef and noodles, beef lo mein, and Kung pao chicken... again! Six visits, and take out. All good so far. No problems. read more

I will freely admit that I did not expect anything special from Asian Taste. A large group of friends (7-8 people) placed a rather complicated delivery order from my house a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised when the food came - it was fast, fresh, and hot, and moreover, damn tasty. Don't get me wrong, we ordered your typical greasy American Chinese food - egg rolls, crab ragoon, lo mein, etc. But it was all delicious and extremely cheap! My husband and I decided we wanted to try it again (to make sure it wasn't a fluke or something) so we went to the East Providence location to dine in. It's kind of a hole in the wall type of place - nothing special in terms of decor or service, but the food once again was mighty tasty! I did specify that I have a food allergy before placing my order and they forgot to omit that particular ingredient, but once I got the server's attention she replaced the dish for me and it was ready within 5 minutes. I've ordered lunch here several times, since it's convenient to my office. Online ordering makes it easy. The staff is always very pleasant. On one occasion, my order wasn't ready and I had to wait 10 minutes. When I got to work, I discovered they'd included an order of egg rolls for my trouble. Usually, I get the Hot & Sour soup, which is meatless and very good. They always include a generous package of chow mien noddles on the side. I've also had a few of the appies, like Crab Rangoon, Spring Rolls and Nim Chow. They were all very good as well. The restaurant is small but clean and well appointed. I have had Asian Taste twice and agree with other Yelpers that the food is good, cheap and fast. Additionally, the family that runs the business is very friendly when picking up orders. My fiance has lived in the neighborhood for years and has gone here many more times than I and agrees, this place is great! However, I was incredibly disturbed last week when driving home from work. I was stuck in traffic on Taunton Avenue right at the restaurant. I saw an employee come out the front door dressed in what would appear as a cook or chef's outfit (flame retardant pants, white shirt, cap and large white apron). This chef was blowing snot rockets on the sidewalk. I kid you not! He did this multiple times! And the worst part- he wiped his nose with his apron after he finished with this gross nasal hygiene exhibit and went back inside to, what I assume, is finishing cooking your meals! I am sure there are many disturbing things that happen behind the scenes at restaurants, but the fact that this individual came to the FRONT sidewalk to do this and then wiped his face with his apron was absolutely gross. It's not too greasy and has a pretty "clean" taste for fast food takeout; however the flavors are not very well executed. The *worst*. The food is a lot greasier than most cheap Chinese food. They burn the fried rice. This was a 9PM desperation option for us on busy nights, but never again. Their one saving grace was that the food usually arrived quickly. 2 out of the last 3 times, they lost our order. They repeatedly blame a fax machine, but even after calling 30 minutes after ordering to confirm (and being told our order was on the way), a second call (another thirty minutes later) revealed that they hadn't even left with our food yet. Growing sick of the same old chinese american take out place, I decided to give asian taste a shot. I should have known better. I ordered a general tso's combination plate with a egg roll for an appetizer, being a combo plate, it came with pork friend rice. I was starving, I dived in, a few mouthfuls of rice later I discovered what looked like part of a fried rubber band. I stopped eating the rice. I should have stopped eating. I tried a few of the mostly dark meat general's chicken, they seemed to go down ok until I bit into one that seemed to have some sort of sand like substance in it. what a nightmare of an experience. The hunan chicken which was supposed to be spicy ended up being bland and 75% veggies that were huge pieces. The shrimp in garlic sauce also had huge pieces of veggie in it.
