This Asian Link Corporation is a horrible place. They are incompetent, rude, unreasonable and greedy.
I wanted to get some filing documents notarized and the Asian Embassy recommended Asian Link Corporation.
I was having trouble finding the place so I pulled over and called them for their address. The lady there told me their address is number 6. Ok, so I was looking for #6, but the addresses were all in the thousands. So I called back and again the lady said their address is #6. That didn't sound right so I looked it up myself. Turns out #6 is their unit number not their address. Who the heck gives the unit number when someone is asking for the address? Lady, do you know how many units out here are number 6? *sigh
I told them I needed a Sworn Statement notarized, so a person named Sophia Yang came out to help. She asked for my Sworn Statement and I told her I didn't have one, but I have this application. She looked the application over and then recommended a form called a Jurat. I was puzzled so I confirmed with Sophia, the Jurat is a Sworn Statement? And sure enough, she confirmed "a Jurat is a Sworn Statement", so I went with her suggestion, but turns out the Jurat form was wrong. As a result my filing was unsuccessful costing me a lot of time and money.
Here's the bottom line. Notaries are not supposed to recommend forms. They only verify the identity of the person in front of them and notarize the form you provide. If you did not bring the form for them to notarize, like me, then they can't do the notary until you provide the correct form. What Notaries are NOT suppose to do is start pulling out forms to notarize for your Government filing, because then they are on the hook if the form they recommended is wrong, which is what happened here.
Problem is Sophia and Asian Link Corporation want to make your money, so they just recommend whatever, and then if it's wrong that's your problem.
So weeks later, I get a rejection letter from the Government. So I called up Sophia. She told me to drive back to her office and she would look at it. When I got there, Sophia immediately started blaming me and said she doesn't know what the Government wants. She only verifies the identity of the person in front of her.
Then don't recommend forms...
Look, in all fairness it was my first time filing and I did ask for Sophia's help, so I wasn't even trying to blame her. Let's just notarize the correct document which I brought and then we're done. It would take 5 minutes to do that, but no, Sophia just wanted to blame me. I kept trying to say, let's not argue about this, let's just fix this and then we're finished, but it seemed Sophia wanted to pick a fight with me. Then, she gave me this ultimatum, if I didn't confess it was my fault, she wouldn't fix her mistake. She was acting all high and mighty just to fix a mistake she made. I really didn't want to argue, but she was being totally unreasonable. So then I finally asked Sophia. "If it's not your responsibility and you don't know what the Government wants, then why did you recommend this Jurat form?" Sophia then got even more hysterical, yelling and screaming, "That's not my problem! That's not my problem!", and then she just stormed off into the back. Absolutely disgraceful.
The Lesson? Asian Link Corporation and Sophia just want to make your money and they are not following the right protocols. They recommend forms so they can charge you and then if something goes wrong, it's not their problem. And when the customer comes back to try and work with them, they lose control, they blame you and blow up like some immature unprofessional hot-head.
Sophia thinks yelling louder will somehow win her losing argument. If Sophia really had an argument, she would have made it, instead she just ran away. Whatever...
I quietly picked up my stuff and I went to the notary at UPS, same prices, closer location and way better service. I told the guy, "I need a Sworn Statement Notarized."
He said, "No problem."
I then asked, "What if I don't have a Sworn Statement with me?"
His answered? "Then you'll have to type one up."
Notice how his answer was not, "Oh, all you need is this Jurat". Anyway...
At the end of the day, I would not trust a place that doesn't know their own address, only cares about taking your money, doesn't follow the rules, makes mistakes, not own up to them, costing you money and time and then yells, "That's not my problem! That's not my problem!"
The choice is easy. Don't go to Asian Link Corporation. Terrible... read more
