I contemplated over the Nasi Goreng (wasn't sure what 'curry' meant beside ingredients and HATE generic curry powders that they offer here in Europe), but chose the shrimp fried rice instead. Probably not the most exciting of dishes, but I just wanted something greasy and cheap that would sit poorly on my body. My boyfriend ordered some fried noodles. The guy making it seemed annoyed we were there which I found ridiculous (c'mon customer service in Germany- customers are the reason you are even in business!), but the food smelled delicious so I put on a happy face. We took the food to go and made it a ways away to our tram stop to head home. We missed the first tram and decided to start eating at the tram stop. There was no soy sauce in the bag, but there was some chili paste stuff. I opened up my shrimp fried rice and it was so pale that I knew I was in for trouble. The taste was good but dannnnggg this stuff needed salt or soy sauce in a desperate way. I actually couldn't even eat it. My boyfriend had the same issue. They were such flavorless dishes. Once we got home, we dumped insane amounts of soy sauce on the stuff and it was pretty decent at this point. It hit the spot just like we needed. I am giving this three stars despite extreme disappointment because had their been some soy sauce in the bag, it would have solved the problem right away. It was just a major inconvenience and the food got a bit cold in the process. But I would definitely go back here and try something else on the menu! :)

The waiter was friendly and spoke English. This place had a fish market inside it. I guess in the day, it sells fresh fish, at night, it is just a restaurant. This is a very few places I tried that pictures seem to be smaller than the actual dishes. When the dishes came, it was a pretty big dish. Also, it was not expensive, I remembered it was 7 or 8 euro per dish. I would recommend this place if you are in Frankfurt.

So, it's a Saturday evening, it's getting cooler and it's raining and one cannot be bothered to…read morecook. So naturally, one looks for something nearby. My partner looked this up on Yelp and we walked there. In the rain [insert sarcastic yay here]. We sat down inside at the front of the restaurant, later though, as I watched the waiters, I realised that there was probably more room if you want down a side corridor, towards the back. Also for sunny summer days (which, in case you've not realised, are definitely over ), there is communal seating out the front. So, the menu is pretty simple. Not too many things on it, but that's a good sign, as means they've got focus and if they're cooking the same thing over and over again, they should be experts. My parter ordered the Dorade (sea bream €9), I had the Backfisch (flour-coated fish, deep fried €7), we shared a fish soup (€4) and a Sprite (€1.70). The soup was basically a vegetable soup with bits of fish in it, but it tasted good. Plus it was good as it was cold outside. My partner was well-pleased with his dish, the whole fish was grilled well, had a side salad and fried potatoes. He said he would go there again - this is definitely a rare statement as he is German and his expectations are on another level, somewhere beyond. Now, keep in mind I wasn't expecting too much from my dish, but the fish was fresh and well-cooked, the coating was light and every bite was delicious and crispy! There was also Remoulade - tartar sauce - on the table, as well as salad dressing, salt, pepper AND chilli flakes I know it's just Sprite but it was in a glass bottle, and it is my believe that such drinks taste better when they're stored in glass rather than plastic. I looked around at the other dishes people were ordering and grilled whole fish were definitely popular. Also big families that were there took advantage and ordered platters of things and all seemed full and satisfied. I will definitely go there again and I recommend that you do too, if you want a decent serve of seafood and some sides, at a good price point. If you went anywhere else, you'd probably pay double! Some people might get all snobby and be like "Gallus is dingy, I'm not going to go there..." blah blah blah. But every place in the world has hidden gems. Don't judge a book by its cover!
