Good recommendations about food and habitat, although we already were quite experienced hamster owners, she clearly knew her stuff. All the babies were handled regularly so they were quite tame, which was good to see. I would definitely visit here again ahead if visiting one of the big chain stores.

They have other animals, but mainly the animals are asleep and the shop has the sort of smell that any shop would if it was selling brightly coloured cowhide and bones. They stock alot, including plants, gnomes and books on Daschunds, but some of thier items are overpriced and a child has to bring a parent to buy a goldfish (understandable, unfair if you are 11)

The strange atmosphere isn't helped by the weird incongruence of pet food and general hardware being sold in the same shop. Ask for a plastic bag, and you'll be rewarded with a tut, a sigh and a bag from a shop down the road. Somehow I don't think it's anything to do with being eco-friendly, and more to do with a customer service ethos that sees customers as an inconvenience. If you've got a child in tow, don't even think about trying to enter this shop. A comment regarding the difficulty of negotiating the shop's narrow aisles (blocked with stock) is met not with an apology but with a bellowed 'It's delivery day!' Steer clear. Steer very clear.

I love going to this shop. Not only do I get to buy my cat food, I get to look at the cute rabbits…read moreand guineapigs. My kids love going to look at all the animals, and usually take a bit of bribery to get them out of the shop. I recently discovered the adoption centre at the very back of the store, will probably have to keep the kids away from that bit or will end up coming home with a few!! Good selection of cold and exotic fish, and all the ones I had from here have had long lives!!
