I have been coming here since a small child, as there has always been some means of entertaining children here. It used to be table skittles, darts, and dominoes. Nowadays, there is a pool table too. There have always been 2 full size snooker tables here. This is a typical club, local's and their families have been using it for over 100yrs. The beer is relatively cheap, plus a range of snacks, but no food. The club has it's own snooker, darts and quiz teams, and many other events held here including the annual village show. I won 1st prize in the Victoria Spongecake competition twice in a row - much to the chagrin of all the local ladies - I was 12 yrs old at the time! Oh, the memories!

There are not many people under forty in here as a general rule. Anyway, the club has been around since God was a lad and is a product of the rich Irish history that Haslingden has. You don't have to be Irish, or even like Father Ted, to join. Members' use it for a quiet drink, snooker, pool, darts and dominoes (there are teams' for all of these). They have acts on at least twice a week (the legendary Wolftones played recently), and you can learn Irish Music or even Line Dancing, should you be that way inclined. There is a function room upstairs. This is available for hire and I'm told it has recovered from 'Dob's 21st' in 1985 when the band 'Indecent Exposure' had their act interupted by the arrival of a batch of hot Hollands Pies. Happy days. Very friendly environment. Smartened up considerably in recent years and no sign of a Brian Potter anywhere.
