All of the items are high-quality and the woman who chose these items for her store has great taste. The employees were friendly and helpful and definitely were eligible on the items they sell. I bought an adorable sign for my family room and I will definitely be back to buy more things for my home as well as gifts for friends and family.

There is a huge variety of unique items in addition to Pismo Beach themed souvenirs and beachwear. We picked up some beautiful quilled paper greeting cards, cute stickers, and hoodies when the temperature suddenly dropped. I had to rush out for an appointment before I could look through their seashells. It's a 4 hrs drive to get here so I called when we got back home to see if they could ship some seashells to me. I spoke to Minh who was so helpful in putting together a special package of shells to send me. This is such a quaint little shop that's filled with interesting curios and knicknacks. The staff is super friendly and it's easy to lose track of time when there's so much fun stuff to choose from. I love that my daughters will also have great memories of shopping at Pier Gifts. The space is filled, & with other tourists it made for limited movement in spots, but it was maintained & pretty organized. We found a cute kids tee, but couldn't find the size we needed for a tank top or sweatshirt. I was able to get a staff member to help with reaching items hung high on the wall. They have different personalized name items, & I like the style & quality of the one we picked out.

A couple of clarifications for questions we had before the trip: - We have kayaked a lot before and were not sure if we needed a guide or could just rent kayaks. Have a guide is well worth it in this area. Lots of hidden caves and beaches and harbor seal hangout spots that only a local guide would know. So worth it to pay for the tour rather than renting on your own. Bill is really knowledgeable and super chill. Highly recommend. - You do have to carry kayaks down the stairs from the Shell Beach street to the launching spot on the ocean. I saw some people complaining about this in the reviews. I'm not sure why. Those kayaks can't fly themselves down the beach and it is really no big deal. - We went during low tide so you can't really go in the caves...but honestly we didn't miss it because everything else was so cool and scenic and there was plenty to see. I feel like we went at the perfect time for kayaking with a calm sea and lots of wildlife. However, if kayaking in a cave like area not next to a cave is super important to you, ask when the tide is going to be in to facilitate that. - A wetsuit and booties are key because you will get wet -- either you might flip which is no big deal or you are going to wade in the water at one of the sea glass beach stops to see some cool anemones. Luckily this shop outfits you with some great gear included in the price. - Pismo Beach Surf Shop and Pismo Beach Dive Shop are owned by the same person and are the same shop. I don't know why one has higher ratings than the other but both are excellent because they are the same place.

The pedaling was labored, and the chain on our family bike popped off not once, but twice, leaving us stranded in traffic. This wasn't just an inconvenience--it was a safety hazard. We returned the bikes early, and the owner's response was shockingly dismissive. She said a quick "sorry" and then literally went inside and hid, refusing to speak with us or offer any refund. An appalling lack of customer care.

Sizes were limited given the lack of space but we scored on some cute accessories & hope to return again someday. The sales lady was incredibly sweet.
