Only one foot through the door and I soon I realized that Carlsbad, NM, has some very talented artists! My absolute favorite items were by Frieda Bates. I adored Mari Engles' art too. All of the items were for sale which I will most likely be purchasing a piece next time we are there. Preferably framed artwork of Bates. Her items are higher priced, but it would be worth it to me because I can get lost staring at most of her art. Very therapeutic. Other items included photography, jewelry, pottery, postcards, window charms, sculptures, magnets and some knit items. The hostess was very nice and wished us a safe drive home in the dust storm. I can tell that the displays change fairly often. I should have asked how often, but I wasn't thinking about that at the time. Huge fan!

While Bennie's did not have much of a clothes selection back on April 16, 2026, the customer service was nice and my daughter did find a nice pearl snap top that was super cute on her. The price was $35.52 which is comparable to many Western wear stores for her age group. The elderly owner makes the leather bracelets on display (photo attached). Dressing rooms were available. Plenty of parking. Plastic accepted.
