Pasta salad
Ashley S.

I've heard about Ashley Mac's from some coworkers of mine so decided to check them out. We went on a weekday during lunchtime and it was slightly busy. We noticed that they had two cashiers, but no one to attend to cleaning the tables. The restaurant is big and bright and there is plenty of seating. I noticed the other cashier had to leave to take orders out to the customers which caused a line to form. Nonetheless, I ordered the Lemon Rosemary Chicken which came with a side of rice and a sour cream biscuit. I added a side of chopped BLT salad with ranch and for an extra fee, I added a side of pasta salad. The food was really good. It was seasoned properly. I do wish the food temperature would have been a little higher, but other than that, it was delicious. The chicken and rice were moist and the salad was great. I will add that it comes with a lot of blue cheese... a little too much based on the size of the side salad. I will definitely get that on the side if I order this salad again. The biscuit is addictive.. it literally just melts in your mouth. I can eat an entire bag of those. And the pasta salad was very creamy and delicious as well. For the price of this meal, it was a lot of food so you can't beat that either. I definitely enjoyed my visit and highly recommend. Will definitely try something different t next time as they have a great variety of food options.

Chicken club and pasta salad

One of the cleanest restaurants around. Already a plus in my book. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside (it's huge). You walk in and all the freshly pre-prepared meals are located in the fridges on the side. So many choices, and although I dined in, I heard that the lemon poppyseed chicken is a must try! I came for lunch and had the chicken club with a side of pasta salad. The price is more than reasonable, coming in under 10 bucks. The sandwich had a lot of chicken and other ingredients so it's filling and delicious. I thought the pasta salad could've had a little less salt. It was too salty today, but maybe that changes. By the time I got there, they had run out of pb cookies, but I was able to have a brownie. Soft in the middle but the edges were too crunchy. I'd get another though! It's great to see a locally-owned restaurant doing well!

Ashley Mac's has been wonderful at every location since the day she began this restaurant business. Everything you order to eat inside the place is delicious and the multiple options you have to take out of the freezer to take home and warm up are super delicious too. The vibe inside is so nice and feels like you're in a fancy restaurant even though I've walked in with a tshirt and shorts and just a comfortable place. They make such great meals and serve them to you kindly.

BLT

Ordered a pimento cheese BLT without the pimento cheese on white toast. Asked for mayo on both sides of the bread but was told that they do not put mayo on; packets are available at the drink counter. Was surprised when I got my sandwich and there were only TWO slices of bacon in it! Couple of very thinly sliced tomatoes and lettuce. Okay. Greek pasta salad was excellent.

Every time I've eaten here--whether in restaurant or to go, the food has been outstanding. Well prepared, as ordered, and delicious. Customer service is great... employees are very friendly and helpful.

This is a a great place to eat lunch or get frozen dinners. The poppyseed chicken you cannot go wrong with. It is rich and creamy. I've had it to go and just ordered the frozen entree during this virus crisis. They are running a special is you spent $100 they will deliver to you...depending on area. We got beef strognaff, mac n cheese, tomato basil soup, white chicken chili and poppyseed chicken. Everything was so delicious and we also received an insulated bag. They do have an awards system whenever you place an order as well.

I always get the poppyseed chicken plate with the baby bleu salad. The sour cream biscuits are also very good!

I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I asked Taylor, the employee behind the counter, to make her personal favorite bowl and surprise me. I assured her I liked all the ingredients, so she happily took over. When she got to the meats, she even offered me a sample of the spicy chicken first to make sure I liked it. I definitely did. She also paired the bowl with three separate sauces she thought would go well with it. And let me tell you... that bowl was AMAZING. The kind of meal where you take one bite and immediately know you'll be thinking about it again later. Honestly, I may have to go back and ask for Taylor's favorite bowl every single time because it was incredible. I didn't stay long, but the restaurant appeared clean, open, and welcoming as well.

I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Pita with a side of the Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips and a soda. The order was supposed to be for dine in but it was bagged up as to go. The pita tasted great but was extremely messy. Fortunately I still decided to eat at the restaurant because more napkins were required. I had every intention of saving the side of pita chips for later but decided to go ahead and try it. They were so good I couldn't help myself and ate them all. With the distance this location is from my office and none near the house, not sure when I will make the trek again. But if the opportunity presented itself would like to try again.

Eating food at this restaurant is truly unlike anything available in the city of homewood and Birmingham as a whole. That being said, since this restaurant has been open I have noticed very clear and fixable issue regarding the service, which I deem to be subpar. Keep in mind that I continue to come back here because I really do feel like this food is worth coming back for. My intention with this review is to provide constructive criticism to the owner of the restaurant who may read this and may make these changes. 1.Tableware- every time I have dined I have always noticed that the house staff is never entirely prepared to service the customer, even when the restaurant has 1 or 2 tables full. By service the customer, I mean setting plates, forks, spoons and knives at the ready. I understand that mandi is a food eaten with hands but having a plate and silverware is always necessary for the American customer 2. Taking orders- many times while ordering with a big group, the hostess would take the order by memory without writing things. This would lead to moments where while in the middle of dining on one of the mains they brought out asynchronously from the rest of the order, the hostess would end up asking us if we had anything else missing. In fact while taking the check the hostess would ask us about our order, as if we were responsible for writing it down ourselves. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but if the order is written then it would save a lot of unnecessary questions and confusion about our order. 3. Missing sides with orders: the daqous or toum is routinely missed with specific orders. Not sure if this is brought out on request or part of the order inherently though. 4. Keeping tabs on order completion: this was mentioned in number 2 but it really isn't our responsibility as customers to inquire about parts of our order when we don't see them on the table and when the waitress asks us if we are missing anything it just adds a layer of confusion and loss of trust in the staff. Bottom line: The food is great, cooked to perfection, and delicious The house staff team requires real training and the issues can be fixed. Working in service is hard and it can be a very laborious job. It seems like this restaurant is family run which is great, but I really believe certain consistencies need to be implemented for this restaurant to have real, returning customers.

Dinner also come with a salad and a rich aromatic broth to start with. Quite refreshing! Beef kabobs were good, but once we tried the lamb dishes, it paled in comparison... First all of the lamb was SO tender it was all falling off the bone! We did not need any extra seasoning, though if you run on the salty side you may need to request... Then as we were headed out talking to one of our hosts, come to find out the lamb is from a local farmer/rancher, which in this old/ex chefs mind took this to yet another level. I will absolutely be back again and am so mad that I waited so long to try it! Please treat yourself to the local gem!

We placed an online order at 2pm for an 8pm pickup since I was flying back and wanted everything timed properly. Around 5:30pm, my wife called to see if we could adjust pickup slightly earlier (~7:50pm), and they couldn't even find the order. After multiple holds spanning ~15mins on the phone, accusatory remarks of not placing the order at the right location, she was eventually told it would be ready at 8pm as scheduled and they could not accommodate the ~10min modification. No big deal, this was a Friday night, we get it. When she arrived right at 8pm, the order still wasn't ready, and staff seemed unsure what was going on. This was after we had already called to confirm it. Then we were told the system doesn't "trigger" the order until the scheduled time, which doesn't make much sense if you're offering timed pickups. In the end, the pizza didn't come out until about 30 minutes late for no clear reason. Really disappointing experience overall because the food itself was solid, but the breakdown in the ordering system and communication left a pretty sour impression.
