The Gladstone park is a hidden gem down in the back of Balmain…read more Ive only ever been there on Saturdays, however it is always pumping with the local residents in the ample outdoor seating area. There is a small marquee that you can book for parties, and an excellent Bistro that offers up some choices that are surprising for your local Bowlo. Recent examples like Pan fried pork cutlet with whole baked apple and mash. Confit of Duck with garlic roast potatoes and broccoli. House smoked salmon etc etc. Ranging from about $17 - $25 as the most expensive, it s pretty sweet deal. Easy to share favourites like coconut prawns, Quesadilla, and good old bowl of chips n sauce. are also available. However, This isnt your typicaL deep fried dim sims and sweet and sour pork bowlo bistro.. no Siree. I was wondering if there is a celebrity chef working here. There is a window to the bar from the outside seating area. which is useful. Cheap jugs of beer, and even a TAB in a small quaint inside section if you feel like playing the doggies. Good for people with kids, as they can play outside. As long as they dont go on the greens. ( There is a very adamant sign telling you so) Good for groups, and I believe you can book functions there if you get in with plenty of notice.

The club may have not changed much in Appearance but has slowly evolved and found its self a new Vibe ..... catering to families .... couples ..... the lads ..... and the oldies always. Many clubs are disappearing, being sold off ..... or just ghost towns. MARRICKVILLE has found its niche ..... having the premises rented out most weekends from 8pm until 5am with all night rave parties..... and with an open bar as well ..... let's say the rest takes of itself. It's a great club if you like great beer, some of it craft , good food and some fun at reasonable prices.

I love this Bowlo and I want to have it's babies or at least have my wedding reception here…read more I do not know why Ive never been here before in my entire existence as an inner westie. I'm gald I have resolved this technical misdemeanor though. The place is garlanded by fairy lights and rice paper lanterns inside. You can play barefoot bowls until 9pm. - Try doing that at any other bowlo. There's an old school lino dance floor and a small stage where live and local gigs are always happening. Kids are welcome, and on the night I went there were groups of tweenie girls rocking out and dancin to the cool inde bands that were playing anything from covers of Rip tide to original hits like "going down the toilet" while their cool parents watched on and drank a few of their awesome selection of Craft beer. That's correct. Craft beer like Cold War. Feral Hog hop, I think was another and Hangman's rope and they are only $5... FIVE BUCKS!!! and of course what piqued my interest was the cooper's pale ale fairy lights hanging across the bar. too freakin rad. Food. Most nights it's very excellent Pizza. excellent excellent excellent. If you book a gog there they have different menus. It all looks amazeballs. Love love looove.

Petersham Bowling Club is hard to describe. It's ugly,…read morerun-down and shabby (not in a chic way). BUT They have possibly the best range of craft beers on tap anywhere (and bottled) in the Inner West. It's quite astounding. We are regulars here, because there are always new beers to try. And there's actually nothing nicer on a lazy afternoon than sitting back in the sun on some crappy furniture, looking across the weed infested greens and sipping an amazing, cold beverage. Seriously - If you like the idea of places like the Local Taphouse, but you hate the crowds and the astronomical prices you NEED to get yourself down to the PBC. Also, they do live music, bistro food, barefoot bowls etc... but I can''t vouch for any of these. For me it's all about the beer.

It's quiet-ish .... you can enjoy your footy on TV ..... enjoy your well priced Beers and girly drinks ...... hide away ... even better than being in the witness protection program or have a Huge group with you ..... it can be whatever you want it to be. I enjoyed my stay and plan on coming back regularly as the people there .... staff and non staff were so friendly and happy to chat at the drop of a hat!! My first mistake when it came to Paddington Bowling Club was thinking that if I got off the bus on…read moreOxford Street at Taylor Square, it's only a short walk to Paddington. This wasn't a mistake so much as an inability to accurately take in all the information necessary to make a correct decision. Yes, if I get off the bus at Taylor Square it's only a short walk to Paddington, but no, if I get off the bus it's only a short walk to Paddington bowls. An hour and a quarter later, fighting the clock, trying to get the party on time, I arrive at the Bowling green. Which is, so we're all clear, on the other side of Paddington. Despite being so far from the bus I took, the club is in a great location, a large cliff backs onto the bowling green and provides a natural shade during particular times of the day and we're only moments away from the water, which is always a very nice feeling. The food is gourmet and the general atmosphere is one of relaxation and enjoyment, despite the fierce competition taking place. Since bowling has become somewhat fashionable and more and more take up the sport with or without shoes, the drinks have slowly risen to modern day prices. I recall going to places like the Bowling Club as the last bastion of clubs that would serve schooners of ale at genuine 1972 prices. Gone are the days of $2.50 Crownies. There's a pokies room full of repetitive music and problem gamblers, Keno and a TAB, as well as a large club area where I'm sure they have events on from time to time. Out the back there are two large bowling greens and a car park, though the place is easy enough to get to by public transport should you review the available information adequately before leaving the house. (It's only a couple of blocks from Edgecliff Station.)

It's a nice bowling club that's got a bit of everything. There's a nice bistro with plenty of options to choose from like burgers, steaks, pasta, salads and a few Asian noodles and 'specials'. Outside is a nice new courtyard overlooking the green and there's also extensive views looking over towards Homebush and the Olympic stadium. Years back when I was more mobile (read: less lazy) I used to play cricket on the oval below and spent countless hours wishing I was up at the bowlo having a drink in the air comfort of the place. Needless to say it was straight up there after the days play! If you decide to kick on, there's a courtesy bus to take you home on Friday and Saturday nights although I assume that's just for locals. But that's what this place is, a nice place for locals.
