I can't explain how much I love this school. My eldest had dealt with bullying at all his previous schools, because he's nerdy and awkward and sensitive. He'd been the "problem kid" to the teachers because he got bored easily from lack of a challenging curriculum and disrupted the class. He was angry and sullen most of the time. Junior high was the worst because he finally realized what I'd always known, that he was gay, and with the support of his family and few friends, he came out. He didn't expect the backlash. My son hated school and had the beginnings of social anxiety when he came to Harding. Being interested in art, he hoped it would be a better fit. The term Fine Arts Academy is somewhat of a misnomer in my opinion. Yes, they teach many arts classes, but it is not a school only for teaching art. It is a school that uses art to teach, all subjects. They encourage creativity in all things from approach to execution of any subject or project. They have a rigorous curriculum, but give kids all the tools they need to achieve their best, including access to tutoring, teachers that give one on one instruction if needed, and online resources. The teachers are some of the best I've seen. They really care about their students. The class sizes are smaller, so teachers have that ability to give individual attention. They have unique classes and clubs as well, such as photography, graphic design, martial arts, modern dance, Spectrum LGBTQ+ support, and the BSA (Black Student Association). There is so much diversity and support for that diversity, that bullying is almost NIL and if it happens, it is shut down immediately by staff and students alike. Kids feel free to be themselves here. This place has more school wide activities than others I've seen as well. Random parties, dances, festivals, group trips, and other activities. They really encourage students to step outside clique's and typical social separation to build a community and sense of family. My son has blossomed since coming here, making straight A's since sophomore year, joining NHS last year, and has activities and friends he loves. Being a PTO mom, I hear similar stories from other parents. I bring my youngest here with similar problems in his past, but an open heart to his future here. I cant wait to see what he can achieve here. I definitely recommend this school.

We have loved having our daughter here for the past two years. She's had the most thoughtful and…read morekind caregivers, and I know how much she loves it because she is always happy when we arrive, and she happily walks into the room and begins playing. They spend a lot of the morning playing outside when the weather is nice, and then they come in and do lots of free play, as well as art projects, singing and reading. They eat lunch and have a nap. The more my daughter is able to communicate with us, I know she's getting lots of socialization and people skills from having to get along with other kids all day. I'm thankful for all the influence she gets from the teachers; I know she learns things from them she would not get from me. The church itself is beautiful, and secure during the day; parents access it using a code that unlocks the door. The rooms are vey kid-proof and the playgrounds are age appropriate - there's one for each classroom! They're helping with our potty training efforts, and they also offer soccer and dance for an additional charge after school. I don't think this solution works well for people who have true 9-5 jobs, but it is much closer to what we need than 8A-6P day care. The school day ends at 2:30, and even though my husband and I are fortunate to have flexible schedules, we still employ a babysitter who picks JJ up from here and takes her to do something fun like the playground or the library before bringing her home closer to 5. It's closed several weeks a year, so we have college kids who help us on off weeks, and we're getting smarter about scheduling our vacations around those times. JJ's three grandparents also help make it all work, handling pickups when no babysitter is available. On the rare occasions when I'm able to pick her up, I always get such a great feeling that she's had a wonderful day, easing into the day-to-day of life, being a member of a community and learning the golden rule and how to be a better friend to others. I know I'll always be thankful to this sweet little school for loving our kids so well.

I know it's odd to review an elementary but wanted to point out a few of the things the teachers…read moreand staff do for the community. Besides educating children for very little money, they host a lot of events that empower students such as math and science night (which btw, was super fun and cool). The school had a run down track and did a fun run to raise funds for a new track, soccer fields, and greenery. Not only does this benefit the school, but taxpayers, even those without children, have access to these things. Schools struggle and yet they still manage to give back. Well done!!
