Barb Phillips at Ascent has managed the rental of my apartment for the whole15 years I've owned it and I've never had a problem. She has always found good tenants, and has always had repairs carried out by contractors who, although not cheap, appeared to be competent. I viewed the property recently for the first time since buying it ( I live abroad) as I was selling it, and it was in excellent condition. I have no hesitation in recommending Ascent as rental managers. read more

Anyone unfortunate enough to deal with this company I feel sorry for you. The manager Josh Lawson is utterly useless. All he does is collect his salary and do literally nothing for you. Doesn't respond to emails, or phone calls. The dude is a ghost. While your payments go towards his salary. Think of it as a donation. That you did not sign up for. I give this company overall a ZERO. read more

if it was possible to leave zero stars, I would. I've had to deal with with the manager of this company, Boon Sim, regarding a rodent infestation in my rental unit. my messages went unanswered for long periods of time, and he managed to find a pest control company as incompetent as he is, who was t available for weeks to come and deal with the rodents. when I requested he contact a different company he was condescending, rude, and uncooperative. in the end I had to go directly to the owners of the house, and after making one phone call I was able to accomplish what he couldn't (or wouldn't) do in three months. there is a ridiculous amount of turnover, and after dealing with Boon, I understand why. Boon is essentially a slum lord in a suit. i would strongly recommend anyone looking for rental management services look elsewhere. read more

I have been satisfied with the services providing by Cora Bock to our law firm so far. She is very patience and following up repeatedly! Monica, Kearns & Co. read more

I would not recommend this company! Very poor service; to cut the long story short , it's Property Managers do not even bother to answer the owner's emails regarding the ongoing issues within the condo building(s) they manage! read more

During this time that all of us are going through a lot, Ascent property management found some time to "audit" bicycles in our building (Telus Garden) and confiscate my bike. I have been living in my place for 4 years and suddenly realized that the management has decided to keep busy and throw some bikes away from the bike room of my building without proper communication with residents. They cut the bike lock like thieves to do that!! unbelievable .... read more

Worst strata management company. Hard to get a hold of an agent even during office hours-voice mails are ignored , emails are ignored unless you keep calling them until you get a hold of them. Are they living in 19th century and travelling on horseback ? Everyone has a smartphone and access to emails-at least acknowledge that you received it and you will reply. And the action part ? Forget about that. Cant be bothered with doing anything in a timely manner. Seems like you are their last priority as long as you are paying them strata fees. Take them to court and sure their ass off read more

We dealt with Milena Carella. She was very unprofessional. She never showed-up during the viewing of the unit we wanted to rent and asked the current tenant of the unit (at that time) to show me around and the rest of the potential tenants. She gives you "one question-one answer" reply on the email. never give you complete details until you ask, like they all say NEVER ACKNOWLEDGES your emails and would just simply reason out that she's out and on the go all the time--as if there are no smartphones these days and she also has an assistant...so she has no reason to not update her clients. She would never admit she did something wrong and would even make things your fault. Customer service is way below the negative sign! You will be dealt with, with procrastination and unprofessionalism if you enter in an agreement with them, so do yourself a favor DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT HIRING OR DEALING WITH ANY OF THEM! read more

This is the most unprofessional and unhelpful property management company I've had the displeasure of dealing with, and given how unhelpful most property management companies I've dealt with are, that is saying a lot. Our strata is now in its third property manager in six months, as the previous managers were dumped for poor service. Each agent we've had rarely picks up the phone, replies to emails with terse, uninformative replies, and deflects any responsibility. Many times, our issues were never brought up with council. Stay far away from this company, even if they are the cheaper option for your strata. read more

Would give a negative score if possible- in short, they are incompetent, rude, and awful. Even worse, every (unfortunate) time I am forced to deal with a property manager it always seems to be a different person. Our current manager is Nina Mackay, but who knows how long she'll be around. Ascent does not care about timely resolutions, or accurate solutions. They burn money due to their ineptitude and disinterest in caring for their clients. Even for minor issues, dealing with Nina is an unpleasant experience. If she picks up her phone, she is rude and uninterested in listening to any concern you have. Instead of taking proper, preventative (and cheaper) means, they wait until things get bad and only after enough people have complained do they act, albeit in the most lazy, half-assed way possible. It's as if they purposefully provide terrible, sub-par and rude service in order to make you not want to call them. They also seem quite content to squander your strata fees on emergency repairs instead of actually properly maintaining the place. If you are looking for a management company, or are considering making them your management company for your strata AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. You deserve much better. read more

"Please direct your concerns to your owner / landlord. Regards, " was the answer to both elevators being down and to the many other on going problems yeah its on going these strata companies are only worse then taxi companies. read more

We went for a showing of a house, the lady stood by the door and said sorry I can't answer any of your questions, I'm just here to open the door. When it came to working out a rental agreement, same service, sorry we can't answer anything, pay by tomorrow or we'll move onto the next applicant. Doesn't look like there is another applicant cuz they reposted it on Craigslist. The lady said I'll get my manager to call you, she never called us, she doesn't answer calls, we asked if the owner will close all the holes and take care of the pests as there was mice droppings, our response - we get an email saying we rescinded your rent agreement.... Just terrible communication, not sure how a company like this is still in business. They are rude and unprofessional. Stay away from them. They work in a very deceitful way. We are lucky with our past managers there was good communication, even if we didn't like the answers all the time, they didn't work in a way of deceit. read more

We have only interacted with this management company for a short amount of time now and even just in that time we can easily understand why their rating is so low. Absolutely terrible service. They are unresponsive to emails unless it has to do with money owed to them. They will not answer questions. They don't send you pertinent documents that you need when you move in. They can't keep track of a damn thing. They make mistakes saying you owe them money when you don't. And just overall unpleasant people to interact with. Totally incompetent. I don't understand how this company is still in business. read more

There are not enough words to describe the lack of Management at Ascent. We are now suppose to have a Senior Manager. looking after us. Our senior manager is quite inept, just like the junior ones. Managers have no experience, rarely follow up. I realize that they are guided by the actual Strata but their job is to reply to owners and try to keep us happy. I detest living in my Strata, managed by Ascent! The place looks like a dump and not very many have any pride of ownership. read more

I haven't had a properly working stove since November 2019 when I reported it to management. I have had one working sink for months. They did some exterior carpentry on the window frames last fall but didn't bother to have it finished so the likelihood of rot occurring in the perimeter is high. I have sent photos in of the rot on the second floor yet no one comes to resolve the matter. One winter I had to boil hot water to run a bath for my 4 year old son because there wasn't any hot water for months. If you own a property and are looking for a company to manage it I would continue the search. I pay over $3000/month and this is how they treat their tenant. In my opinion they do not maintain the properties that are entrusted to them. If it wasn't such a great location I would have moved ages ago. read more

There is only one competent and professional strata manager at Ascent. She is fairly new to them and her name is Mary-Anne Thomas. If I was giving her a review this would be 5+ stars. In 20 years of dealing with strata managers, she is the most professional and competent manager I've ever dealt with. Before Mary-Anne became our strata manager it was impossible to get a competent manager at Ascent for our strata. Our previous manager Stephen Lam refused to respond to correspondence, gave poor advice and direction, ignored issues, recommended his acquaintances for contractors who performed poorly and overcharged. His supervisors and management were completely uninterested in disciplining him until we threatened to report them to the Board. That's when Mary Anne came through. Mary-Anne 5 stars Ascent without Mary-Anne 0 stars read more

Worst Strata management company. Totally agree with the previous comments. Our complex had this company for a while and we went through changing Strata agent one after another. None of them good. I wonder if it is this business that is so bad. Some of them didn't reply to your emails. Some reply but don't do any thing. Very bad experience. Very unprofessional. Don't deal with them as much as you can. read more

A rating for zero stars would be more accurate. Customer Service Score: Absolutely not likely to recommend. Customer Experience: High disengagement level from initial point of contact (emergency response line to assigned strata agent dept.) Lack of commitment to deliver information or feedback in a timely manner. Helpful note to Ascent HR and Management: Hire committed professionally trained personnel with focus on quality customer service and solutions delivery. Initially thought I was over-reacting about poor accountability on Ascent's strata management style. One gets the idea that they don't have time to deal with customer enquiries or provide straightforward feedback until issue escalates to higher management. However reading posts by Jes, Fran and Singh reflects exact response I received with regard to dealing with leak issue in strata condo. There were a couple of staff changes recently. Weak or minimal project management from strata agent (staff turnover rate an indicator). Dismal performance score from emergency response call centre to strata agent. Attitude towards customers below acceptable standards of profession. read more
