I have not had any food at the Malt Shovel but from what my friends have told me, the carvery is very nice. The beer garden is pretty spacious. It is a lovely place to be when it is a warm day and you have got a pint. Toilets are not too bad in terms on cleanliness. I found that a lot of old people do visit the Malt Shovel particularly during the afternoon. The Malt Shovel is a great place to be when it comes to live sports being shown at the pub and there are plenty of screens around the pub. I will be going back to the Malt Shovel and next time out I am going to try the food on offer at the pub. Should be interesting.

Price wise, Harvester is decently priced and if you go before 5pm the you can get a massive one third off your bill which is a great incentive to eat here on weekdays. The setting is lovely and warm, the authentic fire places, the soft couches, and the ornaments around the place. Only downside is the fact you can't book ahead, so if you go on the weekend, you may have to wait, but the pub provides a great setting to have a drink whilst you wait.

It's an easy and fast trip out from Brum on the x51 (other buses are available!) My expectations were not high, but I was starved and fancied a lounge before heading back home. So I'd class this as a 'traditional' local pub. It's rough around the edges but perfectly OK for a lunchtime chomp. It's a little on the grubby side if you look closely. The main lounge has a bank of TV's and this is clearly a 'sports' oriented place, but it was just Sky Sports on mute when I was in (nowt sporty on, so that was fine). But when I was there it was pretty much occupied by pensioners enjoying a cheap, sociable lunch. It's hard to complain about value. I had chicken and mushroom pie, with chips, peas and gravy, a pint of Banks's bitter and three big blobs of vanilla ice-cream for a touch over £10! Service was friendly enough and my main was brought quickly. I did have to remind them about the desert, but all was cool. The gravy was straight out of Bisto-land and the peas a bit firm. The pint was delightful, super clear with a great head. Ice-cream was adequate and rounded off a decent cheap meal. So a thumbs up for all round value.

I have only been there twice but this is one place I will be going to more often. Great food, great service and a friendly atmosphere. An excellent pub and a pub I would strongly recommend you go to. Staff are friendly and I was surprised with how long I had to wait for my food. I only waited for around 8-12 minutes for my food which is not bad actually. I remember ordering a Sizzling Half Roast Chicken served with chips, fried onions and a half grilled tomato. The chicken was succulent and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it. The Pub do have starters but I decided to just have a main dish. You can also choose from Pub Favourites, Pies, Combos, Steak and Vegetarian dishes. Plus there is also a kids menu if you do plan on taking your children to The Towers. This is a place for families and I am definitely coming back here. Lush bar at the top of the shiny new Resorts World complex. I was treating my mum to the amazing…read moreAdele concert at the arena next door so we popped in here beforehand. Luckily for us the entrance is well tucked away at the top of the shopping centre, and we only knew it was there after asking the security guard if there was anything else upstairs - sometimes being nosey pays off! This meant it was fairly full but not absolutely bursting like all the bars on the lower floors. There seemed to be people getting turned away near the door as there were no tables free but mum and I just walked straight past to the bar counter at the back - so sometimes not asking permission for stuff pays off too! The menu is sight to behold (it comes in a box) but we kept it simple, getting giant wine glasses of prosecco as they'd run out of flutes. We perched at the statement golden bar for a while then headed outside to the balcony area. There's lots of white sofas and tables to reserve around. Sipping on bubbles in the evening sunshine and enjoying the view over the Pendigo Lake, we felt like we were in a bar somewhere much more exotic than Brum! The prices match the classy setting so it's not somewhere you'd stay for long unless you have money to burn, but mum felt very treated and the posh loos definitely beat queuing at the arena ;)
