Had to deal with ASAP Towing on a recent Friday night after my car was towed from the lot at Rick's Diner in Alhambra. I had parked there for dinner with my wife--just a couple hours, after the diner had already closed for the day. As a local with a city business parking pass, I didn't think it would be an issue. Clearly, I was wrong. We returned to an empty space and a knot in my stomach. A quick call to the local police confirmed it: towed. They told me it wasn't a city-initiated tow and to call the towing company directly. I did, and the man who answered (polite tone, light accent) confirmed the car was in route to their yard and would be ready in 20 minutes. He also let me know I'd be paying $485. We drove over and arrived at a hard-to-spot location off Valley Blvd. The setup was typical of these types of places--intimidating signage warning of dogs and firearms, a narrow gate, and a small window for human interaction. The guy working wasn't the same person I spoke to on the phone. He told me the car had been at their lot for less than an hour--apparently, we missed it by 10 minutes. I asked if the overnight fee could be waived. He got on the phone to check, but the answer was no. The moment the car passes through their gate, the full charge kicks in. And since I paid with a card, there was an additional fee, bringing the total to $501.97. At that point, what can you do? He checked my license, verified the registration, and brought the car around. I noticed a sign stating you can request documentation for your tow, so I asked. He said it would be available Monday. I followed up, and after a couple of calls, a woman eventually texted me photos of the paperwork. But here's the part that doesn't add up: the tow form requires the signature of the person authorizing the tow. The woman said it was signed by the owner of Rick's Diner. Problem is, the diner closes at 3pm, and this happened after 10pm. Unless the owner just hangs around at night authorizing tows (doubtful), I'm not sure how that checks out. To their credit, the staff was polite--but let's be honest, they know they're dealing with people in a frustrating, powerless situation. The real issue is the system that allows this to happen so easily. $500+ for parking in a closed business lot for a couple hours? It's legal, sure--but that doesn't make it right. First of I want to say please avoid this place at all cost, I was at Frank and Son collectible shop, and I saw those signs about towing, but I did not understand because it was a public space, I was in a hurry but I notice a bunch of shady people with clipboards and sitting in a tent near a grocery store on the other side. Although it was a parking space, these people wanted to get a cut, they compete for business so they can careless about your hard earned dollars, they will hire the blood sucker vultures to chalk your tires to mark your car for death, then when you return to your car, it's gone. I am sure that they will not wait until the time frame, they just tow anyway to make your pay the price. Now my car has been towed before but not at this outrageous price of $500. Of course they wanted to make people pay that much, because not many people have that kind of money, so it's harder to get the car back, and they will get charged even more to store the car at the impound. So you have to spend money to get to the location, then pay the fine, that's not enough for them. They also broke my key fob during return my vehicle, I spent another $120 to get a replacement. They gave me the receipt but never returned my ID and registration, I left to San Diego and had to drive back to get my stuffs, they were very inconsiderate, they held on to your stuffs never notified you until you called and checked. This towing company is beyond shady. They patrol the Rick's Burger lot late at night, towing multiple cars even though that restaurant hasn't actually been running for years. When my car was taken, the receipt didn't even list who authorized the tow -- zero accountability. To make it worse, when my wife asked for the proper paperwork, they kept saying they couldn't release it for 24 hours, which is complete nonsense. That's not transparency, that's a stall tactic. This tow company preys on people.. tonight my daughter who has a sticker to park in our apartment complex.. got off work at 11:30 pm walked upstairs to pick up her sleeping 3year old daughter.. her purse, her cell phone and house key was in her car... within 5 minutes they had her car hooked up. she ran down there to stop it.. they charged 210.00 for her to get her car dropped. they were going to take her car knowing her phone, purse everything was in her car. she did not have any spare money to pay these predators so I had to give the cash so my daughter and granddaughter could go home. Multiple cars parked in same area on private property without a valid parking permit or in appropriate Handicap parking spot. they said those were illegal for them to tow.. make it make sense. ASAP towing uses shady practices such as patrolling residential parking lots looking for any reason to tow a car. My car did not have the tag sticker so they towed my car from my reserved parking spot that I pay $75 a month for, and is behind a locked gate. They have no way of verifying whether a car is registered or not. Mine for instance was registered, I just had not yet applied the tags to my license plate. They charged me $380 dollars to get my car out the same day. When I called to ask for information on my car, where and why it was taken, a man was yelling at me on the phone and ended up hanging up on me. A towing company has no right to tow your car from a residential reserved parking spot, even the police cannot do that. I came home at 5pm and in the morning my car was just gone. If I could give it 0 stars, I truly would. These guys are using gorilla tactics to claim business. I am parked on a white spot, not obstructing traffic, not in anyone's way. I am moving out of my apartment. My car is filled to the brim with boxes and a desk and these guys claim it was abandoned and my e brake is on. I left the car for 10-15 minutes to grab another load of stuff and it's been towed. They claim they used special equipment to open the door and take my e brake off however the apartment facilities footage says otherwise. They even denied my request to see the tow truck drivers footage. I never pulled my e brake and left my doors unlocked. They were absolutely ruthless in towing it quickly and making sure I paid every scam fee in the book. The towing, special equipment, labor and "gate" fee amounted to $485. These guys are scam artists. Will be taken to court. If you have your own complaints, come to me with receipts. Absolutely animals. read more

Way to start off our Christmas week. I have been away for my job for weeks and I finally get to return home to enjoy Christmas with my husband and 3 young kids. We were parked in Alhambra behind Rick's and when we returned to our car, every car was gone. We walked around the lot until we noticed the tow sign. My Son and I were visiting Frank & Sons on 05/20/2023 (Saturday). The parking was absolutely crazy. We drove around for almost 45 minutes looking for a parking spot. We ended up parking in the lot of Puente Hills Plaza. We parked there because we were also going to be shopping at the Sam Ash store in this parking lot. After our shopping experience, our vehicle was gone. Not knowing what had happened we notified the Sheriffs dept. They told me that my vehicle had been towed from this parking lot by ASAP Towing in La Puente, about 7 miles from this parking lot. I called ASAP towing. They were very rude to me on the phone and told me I owed them $430 for tow. My Son and I had to take an UBER to get to this tow company in La Puente. Once we got there I explained that I was shopping at both Frank & Sons, & the Sam Ash store. She told me that unfortunately my car got towed, along with 20 other vehicles from this same parking lot. When I tried to pay with a credit card for the $430 charge, she told me that their machine was broke. She told me I had to pay with Zelle or cash. I ended up sending the payment through Zelle. They are doing this so you can't dispute the charges with your Bank. This company is doing predatory towing in many of the parking lots near the Frank & Sons. They have spotters who are telling the tow drivers which vehicle to tow. After arriving back home with my vehicle I noticed I had several areas of my 2013 Honda Accord were damaged. See attached photos. I am contacting several other people who have had this same thing happen. I will be gathering the necessary info over the next week to file possible Criminal charges against this ASAP Towing company. I will also be filing a CLASS ACTION Lawsuit against the company. I had my car towed from my complex there was no parking anywhere so I parked in front of my garage in a fire lane. I know I messed up and there's security on my property always making rounds so I understood that they're just doing their job at the end of the day. The girl at the front I believe her name was Helen if I'm not mistaken she helped me out and was super helpful and quick with all my paperwork. Yeah I was down money but now I know to never park there again and or wait for a spot to open up lol. Stay calm -- Ask for documentation -- pay fine with credit card so you can get home to safety when they start threatening you -- collect yourself and write down what happened and how you felt -- dispute the credit card charge (tell that to the credit card company and submit any documentation you have) Predatory and scammy. They use scare tactics to pressure you into paying the fine. They don't have a legitimate business license as a different review had stated. They wait in parking lots and tow cars once they sit just past the parking time limit. In my case, they made up a fake story about how the owner of the lot came by and reported the car, took photos, and made up fake text logs between the tower and the owner of the lot. They also threaten you with jail time and saying the police are on their way. I stood my ground and kept asking when the police would come, and they had a friend (pretending to be the owner) "call off the police" because they are afraid of authority because THEY ARE NOT A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS. Ask for documentation, invoice for charge, etc. They will deny it and its okay. Keep the receipt and take photos of the scene. Dispute with the charge with the credit card company and tell them about the predatory actions of the towing company during the scene and submit any photos or documents you have pertaining to it and you WILL get your money back. read more

My friend and I had to deal with this company last week. Apparently where we parked, was restricted after midnight, even though we didn't see a sign... whatever. There was a tow truck driver close by but he wouldn't tell us if the car was towed. He said to call the local tow company, but we were confused as to which one because Google was populating 2 different ones (La Puente and City of Industries). After pressing him, he told us to call ASAP Towing & Recovery. When we called, the person on the phone gave us a hard time about the color and make of the car as if we didn't know our own vehicle information... they would only identify the vehicle by license plate number. We were also made to believe that we had to "schedule an appointment" to get the car back. We asked if this was a flat rate impound or if the impound was an hourly fee. It was an hourly charge... They were looking to keep the car for 4 hours longer. Seriously? Luckily, we were able to get the car out around the time we called, but I can only imagine how many people have been taken advantage of because they unnecessarily 'waited' for an appointment time. I think this establishment should be investigated for malpractices. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating vulnerable people the way they do. Have some humility. This company is used by the apartment complex where I live. I have two trucks and both have parking permits. One of the trucks rarely gets driven, so it sits in the car port. I was walking past it and found a violation notice on the driver's side window saying that I had expired tags and no parking permit. My registration tags were inside my apartment, but I hadn't put them on yet, so I put the tags on and verified that my parking permit was still in the windshield on the driver's side; which it was. On Monday, I called the management office for the complex to clear things up, but no one was available due to it being President's Day. Sometime that night, my truck was towed. The next day, I spoke with the management office, explained what happened and was told that they would see what happened. When the management office finally got back to me, they let me know that it was a mistake and that a truck would be dropping my truck off at the complex between 7 and 8pm. Around 7:30, I decided to walk up front, grab my mail and see if they dropped my truck off without calling. As it turns out-- they did. No phone call-- nothing. I also found that the lid for my truck bed was now missing and all the stuff I had in the bed was now out in the open. When I called the company this morning, the man on the phone denied seeing a lid on the bed. I guess it walked away before one of their truck came to tow mine away. read more

These guys unlawfully towed my car from my house. They claimed my community's security guard called them to tow my car. We do not have security. I set the appointment to pick up my car and the guy was extremely aggressive from the jump and was looking for a fight. When he asked for my car keys I asked him to give me an itemized report for the tow and that I wouldn't pay until I was able to check my car for damages/missing items. At this point, he became irate and threatened my life and said he was now keeping my car until Monday. Now I have to wait and show up with a police officer on Monday and I've already filed a police report against the employee and will be taking them to small claims court. When we asked ASAP why they towed it, they said it was in a red zone, which is a complete fabrication. The condo security company, Patrol Masters, has pictures to show that it was not even close to any red zone. It shows the car was parked in a valid spot. But ASAP says they were called by Patrol Masters, so that must be another lie since Patrol Masters says they don't know why it was towed. Why would Patrol Masters call ASAP to tow a validly parked car? Who stands to gain from this? Perhaps ASAP is entering the gated condo facility at will to tow random cars, then saying they were called. How can they explain towing our car from a valid spot and saying it was a red zone? They also demanded payment in cash or through Zelle, without accepting credit cards, they indicated that "machine didn't work". I suspected that was a reason to prevent car owners from disputing with banks later. Since I needed the car urgently for work, I paid the money upfront, but I made sure to take a receipt and keep a record of the transaction. I suspect that this towing action may be illegal. I'd like to emphasize that the tow truck driver demanded payment of $140 before releasing my car, which is a violation of Section 22658(g)(1)(B) of the California Vehicle Code. According to this section, "Upon the request of the owner of the vehicle or the owner's agent, the towing company or its driver shall immediately and unconditionally release a vehicle that is not yet removed from the private property and in transit." read more

Predatory towing company. Ate at restaurant in Alhambra. There was a lot in back. Part of it was designated for the restaurant next door, which was closed. We parked there. Our error. But it was CLOSED. And our car was towed. Came back and met another guy who said these guys target this lot. Saw two other Acme trucks pull in and tow two other cars away like clockwork. Within ten minutes. $485 to get our car back for the $210 towing fee, $70 to store the car for an hour and $100 equipment for some bullshit thing they use "to not injure your car". Went back to restaurant who said you used your be able to park there. Guy at towing company said that a fight broke out in the lot and it ruined it for everyone and now they tow. I call bullshit.
