The best asado in all of LA. It's hosted in a food courtyard the a very homely ambiance. Service excellent always! Do not miss this place.

We decided to share the breakfast hash and eggs plate. It was served with grilled potatoes and onions, any choice of protein, any style eggs and toast. We chose the lean brisket, fried egg, and sourdough toast. The plate was large enough to share. The brisket was absolutely tender and delicious. The egg was fried perfectly. We can't wait to try more. Next time we will order from the lunch menu. The choices are plentiful and the sandwiches and more we saw others purchase all looked great. This PopUp Food Truck is a must try!

The friendly duo of ladies (I'm assuming they were the titular Nia & Jags) greeted me with smiles and friendly conversation, and quickly served up the sample I was meant to get as part of my package "Passport Deal." This was a small bite of Cuban pulled pork on a bed of pita chips. The pork was tender and very juicy without being fatty at all. Yes, the meat was juicy and lean, so these folks must be doing something right in the kitchen. The flavor itself was distinctly Cuban, with Caribbean spices and a bright, citrusy burst that provided a welcome contrast to the rest of the American-style smoked meats at the festival. The pita chips, while not homemade, also provided a welcome change from the standard breads and tortillas served at the other booths. Though I didn't get to sample the rest of their wares, now that I'm well-aware of their names, I'll be looking for Nia & Jags at other events so I can taste what else they're cooking up... I'm gonna go ahead and assume it'll be just as good. I mean, juicy AND lean? That ain't easy!

We were thrilled when we saw Smokey Cow resumed business and we were lucky enough to get some scrumptious BBQ before heading back to NorCal. Our favorite was the Beef Rib. This trip our favorite was the Brisket. My son said it ranks up there with Franklin's and Jack Black's in Texas, home of some of the best BBQ in the nation. The Brisket had an excellent smoke ring, nice seasoning and most of all it was super tender. Just outstanding, hard to get this good of brisket. The Beef Rib and Pork Ribs were pretty good but probably left on the grill just a tinge longer so it wasn't quite as moist as the last time I had Smokey Cow. I also had the homemade Mac and Cheese, pickles, chips and cole slaw. They make everything including the sauce except for the chips. On my next trip to SoCal, I will be stopping by to get excellent BBQ and great service. If you haven't been there before, look for the alley entrance that goes behind the houses where the garages are and look for the lighted entrance. Go early, you don't want to miss out on some of the best BBQ in the area. Smokey Cow is my #1 BBQ, Swinging Door #2 and Bludso's #3.

We finally made it though and holy smokes it was delicious. The folks who run it are funny and friendly and the barbecue is amazing. My benchmark for awesome is usually baked beans and slaw, and sadly, there's no baked beans. The loaded mac and cheese makes up for it though! There's a lot of food for the price, too, which is always a plus.
