She took the time to truly listen, did not rush through the appointment, and explained things clearly so I feel confident and informed about my health. I will for sure be keeping her at my PCP and I'm so happy I found her! I also want to highlight the incredible experience I had with Amutha, the nurse practitioner I saw before my appointment with Dr. B (both at Sutter Health). She was equally amazing, kind, thorough, and attentive. She made me feel comfortable right away and took the time to listen and address all of my concerns with genuine care. I gave her an INTENSE list of symptoms I have been having and she genuinely took the time to address all of them, making me feel so heard/seen. I left both of my appointments feeling reassured and in good hands. It's such a relief to have providers I trust completely. If you're looking for a team that is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly dedicated, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Bahrainwala and Amutha. They are absolutely amazing.

I recently visited Dr. Ramos for my annual physical (wellness visit), and while the appointment…read moreitself went fine, there were a couple of disappointing aspects. First, she was nearly 45 minutes late to my scheduled appointment, which was frustrating and unexpected. Second, I was surprised to receive an additional $388 charge labeled as a separate office visit (CPT 99214). During the wellness exam, Dr. Ramos casually asked if I had any other questions, and I briefly mentioned some minor ear itching and asked about continuing vitamin D3--a supplement she had previously recommended based on past labs. At no point was it made clear that these very brief and routine follow-up questions would be considered a separate, high-level billing item outside of the preventive care visit. I reached out to her office for clarification, as advised by the Sutter Health billing department, but unfortunately did not receive a resolution. My advice to others is this: during your preventive care visit, when the doctor greets you or casually asks "how are you?"--do not respond with anything health-related unless you are prepared to be charged for a non-preventive discussion. Even the most minor comment might result in an unexpected and costly bill. I hope the practice improves transparency around billing so patients can make informed decisions in real time and avoid surprises.

She said she would call in for pain medication to my pharmacy and if the X-ray was normal, she would order an MRI. It has been 2 weeks and no request for MRI even though the X-ray was normal. She also has not called in a prescription for pain medication and when I called twice to find out why, the response I got was that I should take over the counter medication. She clearly does not remember our conversation and has not followed up on anything that was discussed. Meanwhile I am in constant pain with no follow up or help from the doctor or her staff. I am adding to this review to state that the medical assistant staff is probably one of the most incompetent I have come across. I unfortunately had to deal with this office again to obtain my xray information for a visit to a specialist. On the phone, I requested a CD of the xray and Blanca told me that she would make the CD and have it at the front desk for my pickup so I could take it with me to my appt. When I got to the office, 30 min prior to my visit, there was only a paper copy of the results and the office staff; including Blanca told me they don't make CD's. Completely frustrating encounter with this staff. I will never visit this office again.

My old sister referred Dr. Ester Kwok's to me about 20 years ago and I have been her patient since…read morethen. We learned to be "patient" with her because we knew she usually spent a lot of time to examine her patients and follow up with history. It is usually at least an hour per visit. The hospital set up time for the type of visits for doctors and she always ran overtime. This may not be good for patients who don't want to spend too much time with a doctor. But for baby boomers, we need someone who care us more than we care ourselves. She know my personal medical history and family history better than I do and she catches any problems before they get serious. I know two of her patients, my friends, got treated for cancer at early stages because Dr. Kwok knew something was not right and recommended them to go to the hospital for in-deep examinations. If you are young and healthy, and always rush to do everything, then you are better to stick with someone associated with the doctors under the hospital umbrella. They truly efficient.
