Precious little gift shop in the heart of the old city center of Catania. We stumbled upon this shop on our way back to the car after walking thru town to see some of the cities sights (like a 13th century castle, the famous elephant plaza, and various churches along the way). This teeny tiny store caught my attention with all the figurines in the window of Pinocchio, the seven dwarfs, puppets, postcards and a manequin sitting out front. I've never seen a store with so many trinkets enclosed in such a small space. The owner was very helpful in broken English and we bought several souvenirs. She packages each treasure in a beautiful linen bag tied with a bow. Lots of the iconic elephants and treasures made out of volcanic rock. It was warm inside since it was cold and rainy outside so it turned out to be quite a find! read more
