Mostly people come here to get their boats registered, but there is also a library and an information building. I actually grew up running in and out of the labs where they help nurture injured sea turtles back to health. I'm fairly sure you wouldn't be ble to do that now though, times are different. They have added some nice trails through the woods along the harbor, with signs along the way, explaining the different plants, animals, and Native American mounds you might see.

I would say that the people could be a little bit more friendly and could be a little faster because they just seem to act like you should know this is extremely complicated and confusing way that South Carolina deals with both titles and motor titles it's very frustrating and a lot of other states do it in a much more simple way to the people that work here need to understand that it's not the citizens fault that this crazy government entity exists. To me this was just an alley with some Charleston charm with palmetto plants, colorful buildings, and cobble path. My friend and I walked through the alley and stopped for a history lesson from our tour guide from Bulldog Tours. It's a very popular stopping point for tour guides, apparently. He told us a story about a duel, and some "haunted" history surrounding it, in addition to the known history of the alley. It's a pretty walk and it's central to the rest of the city. The staff was very helpful and patient with the kids. They helped with the scavenger hunt that they had for children and went over different programs and events they had coming up. The 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary is on a Saturday, so I visited to vote early as I have to work that day. You can call or request absentee ballots to mail back in advance, but I prefer in-person absentee, as I like the experience of voting. This was a lot like voting at a neighborhood polling location. The voting machines are new and modern, as our state just got new ones this year. You vote electronically, and you're given a receipt with your vote, which you slide through a machine, fold, and place in an envelope. This gives your vote a paper trail. Only Charleston County residents who are registered voters can vote in-person absentee here so if you live in Dorchester or Berkeley counties, you must vote in your county. Thanks for doing your civic duty that so many fought and died for, and don't forget your "I Voted" sticker.
