The Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), founded in 1936, raises funds to promote medical research into the cause, treatment and cure of arthritic conditions; to educate medical students, doctors and allied healthcare professionals about arthritis; and provide information to the general public.
This shop is one of the ways in which they raise funds, but unlike most charity shops it doesn't sell mainly clothes and old videos, but mainly furniture...and old videos. I was impressed at the amount and level of quality of furniture they had. Inside (if you ignored the big ARC signs), it looked like it could have been a DFS show room or something. They had beds, sofas, cabinets, tables, televisions, fridges, chairs and cushions. I saw a really nice cube leather beanbag, which was about 75cm squared, for £4.99. I even considered buying it, but then had images if me carrying it home and dropping it every 5 minutes so deiceded against it. Not bad at all though.
If you're looking for various home furnishings, or some old videos for only a quid each, then have a look in here. There are some really nice things you probably wouldn't expect in a charity shop, and if you do end up getting something, your wallet will be happy and you will have done your good deed for the day. read more
