I mean, this place is seriously hyped up. But of course, it is one of the ancient wonders of the world. But all that remains is one lone pillar with birds nesting on top, and a pool. Since this is less frequented by tourists, the ratio of souvenir peddlers to tourists is high, so make sure you have your "Thanks, but no thanks" attitude on ( we were seriously harassed by a guy for the 10 minutes we were there). It is disappointing just to see one lonely pillar, but the fact that that pillar is there is amazing in it of itself.
Definitely stop here after you come down the Efesos archeological site. You can take the minibus from there to here for only about 3TL. But then you have to walk a lot across the highway to get to the temple ( or what's left of it).
Remember, that your plan for the entire of Selcuk is as follows: start from the top of the hill ( Mary's House), then go down to the archeological site, and when you wind down the hill while going through the archaeological site, you get to the lower entry/exit. Your legs will thank you because walking up hills, you will indeed either faint, break something, or curse the sun because it gets HOT. At the bottom of the site, after you walk past the cafes and parking lot, there is a lone tree with that functions as the minibus stop. read more
