The owner, Sonja, is an incredibly nice lady who is extremely talented and knowledgeable. Several media are offered, from painting, pottery, prints, jewelry, and more. While the subject matter of most of the painting/prints is African-American-centric, there are others themes on display, such as beachy kind of stuff, historical Pensacola scenes, western, and Native American genres. Sonja let me put a painting on lay-away and kindly called me to remind me about it after a month. When I went to pay off the art, I saw many new (and appealing!) paintings that wowed me. There seems to be quite a turn-over of stock, which makes it exciting to return. Plus...Blue Dot is right next door! Go look at and buy some art, then go grub the best burger in town. It's a two-fer!

I asked if I could get any of the teas iced...the most condescending "I can" caused my visit to end short. Will most likely not return at this point, which is a shame as I commend the business bringing something new to Brownsville.

If you have a chance, you totally need to volunteer with them. I was down here for the Collegiate Challenge. Awesome experience. Seriously, how many times can one say 'awesome' in a review? The crew that we worked with was ah-maz-ing! Ed, Joanne, & Wayne gave us such valuable information and helped turn the 17 of us into skilled carpenters that can hammer nails with the best of them, put windows in a house, and lay a roof down in four days! Four days! All we started with was the cement slab. What I really like about the program that they have is the homeowners (not necessarily of the house you are building) have to complete so many 'hands on' hours before they can move in. It was pretty neat to see a couple of them right there next to us. Don't know about Habitat? Here is a little information. Habitat builds houses in partnership with low and very low income families in need of decent shelter. To keep the cost of our houses affordable, Habitat uses the labor of thousands of volunteers. Habitat's partner families pay for their homes. Partner families invest more than money, they offer their own labor - sweat equity - into building their own homes and the homes of others. Their goal: To witness to the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ for all persons through our words and actions. To build bridges among all economic and ethnic segments of our community by establishing new relationships, a sense of community and a renewed commitment to "the common good." To welcome participation from all individuals, groups, or organizations who desire to join with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity because of their shared concern and compassion for those in need. If you have the opportunity to do so, I suggest coming down and helping out. The program is awesome! There is a reason we have been coming down for 10+ years. Just being able to give back to the community is a great feeling. I wouldn't spend Spring Break any other way.

They have walk in art classes or a girls/men group night classes. Holly and Michelle are simply the best-helpful in every way and will be there to walk you through the whole process. Ask a lot of questions. They also allow you to bring in your own wood or driftwood pieces to design. Make sure you have 2-3 hours to spare. Pieces are left overnight to dry and for some for the ladies to add their finishing touch. Great for visiting or vacationers too but again- make sure you add an extra day in your schedule to pick up your pieces. Get your creative juices flowing folks and visit SeaGlass Beach Cottage in Gulf Breeze near Walmart Supercenter.

It wasn't to capacity, but there were 5 groups of guests working on projects and a birthday party in a designated group room. Jerry, is extremely kind and patient. He is knowledgeable about the craft and is wiling to help in any way. The price is more than fair for an evening of positive entertainment and camaraderie. There is an $8 sitting fee. This sitting fee includes access to all materials available for the craft and the fire of your project in the kiln. The cost of the the item you select as your project is the only other cost to consider. That price is reflected next to the item for transparency. In the end, you will pay $8/person and the cost of the ceramic piece. I painted a $25 ceramic chicken, so my total was $33. The length of time you spend at Let's Go Paint Pottery varies depending on your level of skill, the size of your project, or simply the time alloted to enjoy your company. Again, my experience is a little different than a normal visit in any given day. I didn't have to pay an entry fee and I was with a large group for a private even. A unique spot for sure, so drop in if you can! We walked over from our hotel (2-min walk) and centrally located downtown where a lot of bars/restaurants are.
