Love love love this boba shop! We were especially impressed with the food selection and quality. I ordered the popcorn chicken don (comes with cucumber salad, shredded carrot salad and rice) and the husband ordered a beef udon--both of which tasted great and the portions were much larger than we expected. We also shared an order of the gua boa, which was so so good! The pork in the gua boa was cooked perfectly and had great flavor and comes topped with cilantro and peanut powder. For drinks we ordered the Okinawa black sugar boba and an oolong tea with grass jelly. We preferred the black sugar boba over the oolong. The drink menu has a wide variety of different types of drinks and I definitely want to go back to try their red bean matcha. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back to try more items from the menu. The shop itself has plenty of parking and seating, and service was top notch. Came here twice during a short trip to San Antonio. We tried the mango sea salt cream cloud (my favorite!), mango coconut paradise, grapefruit green tea, and lime bomb. Let me just start by saying this place would get 5 stars. That is, if not for one employee who refuses to alter the specialty drinks at the customers requests. This is not hard. A simple request for less sugar should not be an issue. Even three Michelin star restaurants will alter their dishes for diners. They don't have a large selection of drinks on their menu compared to other places. But offer shareable bites and bowls to eat. The batter/breading on the nuggets were good. There's sriracha and ketchup on the side to dip with. When you dine-in there's a special on churros for $2.50. I got their egg custard milk tea with red bean. I asked for it with less ice and right before i received my drink, I heard the girl making it say to her fellow coworker "oops i forgot less ice" and proceed to hand it to me. Like... uh what the heck... I tried it and it tasted like nothing. A very faint faint taste of matcha. Me and my friends placed an order for five drinks and the online ordering system said it was about a 25 minute wait. Which was perfect because that was how long our drive there would be. When we got there I walked in and noticed that they were very busy. The space was a little on the smaller side up front so I felt awkward waiting for the drinks because I was constantly worried about being in the way of others and I did have to move a few times. I waited another 15-20 minutes or so in the store before the drinks were finally ready. I have no problem with long waits, and neither do my friends. But it would have been nice if their online ordering system could have given an accurate wait time. I ordered their Signature Milk Tea w/ Boba and it was good. I was pleasantly surprised by the boba and food here, given San Antonio doesn't exactly seem to be an Asian hub. But I thought this place was pretty on par with ones I've tried in the Bay Area. I ordered the Butterfly Pea special which is dairy-free and basically tastes like lemonade. The only thing is price-wise it's a little steep at $6.50 for the drink including boba. The place is cute, and clean. The store is still in their soft opening phase, and i'm sure they're working on adding and fixing their menu since there was some stuff blocked out. I ordered the jasmine milk tea with boba. My boyfriend ordered the strawberry frappe. My boyfriend wasn't able to add boba to his drink, because you can't add toppings to frozen and speciality drinks. The girl didn't ask what size we wanted but gave us larges, which was fine since we both liked our drinks. We ordered a popcorn chicken as well. I was in an unusual mood and wanted something sweet, and while the Kokuto latte was sweet (I mean, what else do you expect), I ended up drinking the whole thing. I was surprised, since I am usually the person that orders my drinks milk teas at 25% sweetness everywhere. The Teriyaki Chicken Don met my expectations considering the price and type of establishment. The portion was large -- I couldn't finish it -- and I appreciated it came with pickled cucumbers. I saw some reviewers call the chicken dry, and I would say it's just super chargrilled so it ends up with crispy, burnt ends. Personally, that is not my favorite, but overall enjoyed my dinner. Dude this boba place has been the first place that has excited me in a loooong time. The flavors are so unique and so are their toppings. I didn't research ahead and ordered regular boba too hastily (what was I doing??) but i got to try my friends butterfly pea tea with cherry blossom boba and it was divine. Way too sugary but the taste was so unique and the boba was really tender with a firm bite at the beginning. My own drink, the grapefruit tea, was slightly sour and tangy which offset the butterfly tea nicely. The food and drink at Artea never disappoint. For food, I have tried the teriyaki don and popcorn chicken. Both were reasonably priced and generously portioned ( I can make 2-3 meals out of it). For drinks I have tried their mango slushy with sea salt cream cloud and egg pudding milk tea with red bean, both were delicious. Foe the mango slushy they use real chucks of mango in it. No indoor dining at the moment during the pandemic but you can order takeout or there are outdoor seatings. Service is usually pretty fast. Definitely I'd keep coming back here. read more
