Both drinks were really good, but the price tag is a bit higher than what I'm used to in Houston. Total for both drinks was around $15. Knocking down one star because the drinks were a little sweet, I would bump the sweetness down by a level. The strawberry mango also had a little sourness in it that I wasn't really a fan of. Our spot for Taiwanese and bubble tea! We randomly stopped by after going to La Cantera. Artea offers an app to order online and get curbside delivery. The app is also used to indicate that you've arrived to pick up food in the reserved parking for curbside. I think this is a great feature that a lot of restaurants do not offer. Also, food is quick and fresh to order as well as the drinks. Our favorite is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken that comes with rice, carrot salad, and cucumber pickles. You can also order the popcorn chicken a la carte. For boba, it is a little watery on the frappe and regular teas so probably try a smoothie base! Cups are cute and larger than other places. Got that craaaavin for some boba tea so checked my Yelp and ended up at Artea. My son and I both got the milk tea with 30% sweetness which was perfect. The teriyaki bowl was good, but the Gua bao was covered with not only cilantro- but SUGAR as well. Whaaaat? Just no. The pork belly is already in a sweet marinade. The bun was wonderfully soft, the sliced cucumbers perfect-ughhhh why mess it up with powdered sugar? Anyway, I want to go back- just remove cilantro and sugar! Their boba is really good. I am really picky about my boba, but the one drink I tried at Artea sold me. The description of the drink was quite luxurious, and I wish I could remember what it's called (it's in the photo below). They cook their tapioca pearls perfectly, and the milk tea is rich and seeped well. I will say the only complaint I have is they took quite a long time to make my drink, but I'm okay with waiting longer if it means my drink comes out delicious, which it did. I sat in my car and placed an order through the app, (you can go inside to order, wait inside or in the car and they'll bring it to you if you decided to sit in the car.) While I waited for my order, I notice when a car pulled up, a gentleman runs out with the order saying the persons name. The person in the car had just pulled up and put it into park. Authentic flavors, milk tea where you can tell the tea has been properly steeped, and creative drink choices. Their cherry blossom Boba is a fun and colorful addition. Another favorite is adding basil seeds to the Bonsi milk tea which is served with a topping of Oreo and chocolate rocks! Such a fun and playful specialty drink. The atmosphere inside is calming, where you can watch a screen display bright pictures of all their yummy drinks and treats. We saw Artea during our drive in San Antonio and could not resist stopping by - so glad we did! It was quite busy when we got there on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered two drinks and two food items, and everything was delicious! The taro milkshake was very authentic tasting with chunks of real taro in the drink, not something you find all the time. The sugar level was perfect. We also got the Okinawa Kokuto sugar boba latte which was SO good! A bit sweet for me (someone who usually orders at least 50% less sugar), but it was expected since it is made of brown sugar after all. The boba was just so yummy too! For food, we had the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the Yaki udon (combined on the plate pictured). Highly recommend both. The four items came out to be around $37 so not too bad in price either.
