I had an incredible experience at the immersive 'Imagine Van Gogh' exhibit at the Arsenal art Contemporain. This exhibition allows us to appreciate the artworks on a whole new level! They projected Van Gogh's paintings from different angles onto the walls and floors. It is very picture worthy and Instagrammable! There was also orchestral music accompaniment with the paintings to set the mood. The tickets are sold in a 30 minutes time slot, although, you can stay as long as you wish. We stayed there for more than an hour since the paintings switched fairly quickly. Overall, it was a very interesting and fun experience! The service was great as well. I recommend checking it out!

This is the first time I have been to Arsenal. We bought tickets to go see the Van Gogh Exhibit. Upon arrival, we were waived down to park at a paid parking lot. It cost 15$ per car as there were no street parking available. The tickets were $30 each, very steep for what you get in my honest opinion. Upon walking in, you're guided, by way of crowd control posts and barriers. You walk up to a room filled with text related to Van Gogh and his life. Where he was born, what made him the famous painter he is today and ultimately the story of his death. From there, I though it would be an exhibit displaying each of his painting (not the real ones of course). However, I was surprised (both pleasantly and not) to see his famous paintings projected on the walls and floors. There was also music that would accompany the slideshow. I enjoyed it but would recommend they lower their prices for these types of exhibits, that would entice me to try them again.

https://www.arsenalcontemporary.com/mtl/exhib/detail/imagine-van-gogh The Van Gogh exhibition in large and with sound ... I have a personal opinion about paintings on projectors.. to me art paintings is something I like to observe while standing right in front of it and reflecting. There is something about art in a museum where it's quiet, peaceful, and not too many distractions. Especially with an impressionist painter like Van Gogh where his paintings have so much depth and meaning are there is something about seeing it at a museum. However this was truly a different experience being immersed and surrounded by all his work was quite entertaining. It was a different kind of appreciation to his work. I do feel that most of the appreciation came from the media effects and lighting. It's definitely something I would recommend but I can't say I can appreciate his art more rather than I really had a wonderful new experience.

I ended up visiting Arsenal gallery because of the Imagine Van Gogh immersive exhibition. Absolutely a great space to host this particular event and pretty solid organization. This is not the time and place to rave about the exhibit, but I have to say it is amazing. It appears the gallery is an old ship yard turned into a wonderful space for modern art and events, which allows the use of technology to enhance the experience. This is also a kids friendly art space, definitely an advantage for parents. Location is at the border of Little Burgundy and the overwhelmed by endless constructions Griffintown. This could be a problem for people coming by car, but the gallery has its own parking lot, and no condo buildings have been erected on it yet. Now that I'm aware this beautiful gallery exists I will definitely follow its program and come back.

I had a great deal of fun even though there are not that many pieces. So many of the pieces crack me up in a good way. I did not have time for either of the shows the performances, but I will definitely return in the future!

good place for kids. lots of space so they can draw. small enough - # of pieces - that they don't get bored going through the whole venue.

I love bringing my daughter to Arsenal. She loves its modern art and likes to try drawing some of the pieces and installations that she sees. The venue is a mini-museum and is very spacious. This gives folks lots of room to set up for drawing, etc. It is also "mini enough" that even young kids are unlikely to get bored during a visit. I'm a fan. [Remark: I've never been here for an event - but can imagine that this would work well given the venue's spaciousness.]

I experienced C2MTL here and i was shocked at the difference in the venue from pre-vs-post staging.

The closest subways are St. Laurent (green) and Sherbrooke (orange) Street parking is available but metered, so if you plan to hang around, best to use transit. The place: Station 16 is a Montreal institution as far as I'm concerned. These guys dedicate most of the art that's on display, to local artists like Stikki Peaches, 123 Klan, Mister X-Ray etc. In addition, they also have regular exhibits that are often theme-based (i.e. Stenciled, which is currently on) so this allows you to discover other art genres and artists that are not necessarily local. You can find some prints by international artists like D*Face and Rone, among others. Service: N/A - you walk in and do your thing. The staff don't have any issues with you taking photos either. Some days seem friendlier than others. Price point: No charge to get in but if you want to buy any of the art, get ready to take out your wallet because it's not cheap! Miscellaneous: You can usually pop by here during Mural festival and get a map of the previous years' murals + those that will be going up during the current year.

They have two options available--rock and roll experience or a nature experience. I'm all about being in nature when possible so that was the natural choice of mine (no pun intended!), if I can't be outside, why not experience it inside? There's a few different rooms that you can go into on your own timeframe. The first one had rocking chairs which was lovely but then the rooms after that just had benches scattered throughout. Besides a few rude people having full fledged conversations in the middle of the experience, it was a lovely immersion experience.

When in Montreal a few weeks ago, I had some time to kill my dinner reservation and just happened up on OASIS Immersion (when exploring Montreal's Underground City, I ended up in Palais des Congres, where OASIS is housed). I decided it seemed like a fun way to spend an hour or so before heading to my dinner. I'm glad I stopped by - the show I caught was definitely the best immersive art exhibit I've seen so far. I think they may offer different experiences on different days, but the show I caught was Nature Vive/Root for Nature. The Root for Nature immersive experience brings together several organizations committed to conservation and sustainable development, including the United Nations, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Workshops for biodiversity , the Age of Union Environmental Alliance, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal, WSP and National Geographic. The Experience is produced and traveled by OASIS Immersive Studios in collaboration with National Geographic. The experience had some truly gorgeous nature and landscape photography (I especially loved the first and third galleries), and I found it inspiring and entertaining and well worth the cost of admission. Definitely a great activity for a bad weather day or if you have some time to kill when other things have/are closed!

We took in the fabulously creepy Bill Viola show, and then walked a few doors down to take in another exhibition all about gifts. What I should have done was read the notes about the show, because when a woman came up to me offering me "her gift of song" I politely refused. Look. I'm from New York. And I was in China relatively recently, where really nice people ask if they can speak English with you over tea, and then they con you out of lots of money. But that woman was actually part of the exhibition. My bad. Fortunately, we were able to experience her gift of song a few minutes later as she performed some kind of aria in front of some painted money bags on the fourth floor. It's a small gallery. But the art was great. And you can't beat free. Especially when you are just looking for something to do in between meals. But in all seriousness, if you're in the area, and have a few minutes to spare, check out the Bill Viola installation. His work is mesmerizing.
