Concession stands are pricey and the tickets are also pricey, in my opinion. The Kino I was in was not well-cleaned when I sat down, but the chair was comfortable, and I thought it was cool that ice cream is sold inside the actual theatre. I was annoyed by other international viewers because they just would not shut the hell up during the movie. I am not sure if it is always like that, since it was my first time watching a movie outside the States, but foreigners can be very annoying in the audience.

That's why I was so sad when they closed for renovations a couple of years ago. I thought it would never be like this again, but to be honest now it is even cooler! Even some of the restaurants were closed. I stumbled upon this indie theater that laid within a courtyard. You enter first an alley which walls are covered in street art. Murals and tons of wheat paste posters decorate the walls. Tables of a coffee shop and people roaming the little shops and a hidden bar is what welcomes you. Kino Central is not playing the run of the mill films, no you will indie films are played here. Though I had seen Searching for Sugarman we thought it to be cool to see it with German subtitles. Best part is that you can grab a beer or wine and take it in with you. The theater is small nothing huge nor fancy.

BUT... it is very small, the seats are not really comfortable, no holders for drinks or hand bags, it gets quite stuffy at the end of the show.. AND what I really found not-up-to-date and annoying: even if you buy tickets in advance, you have to come at least a half an hour earlier to queue in an impatient mass of people, waiting for the former show to end, the former audience to come out (there is no separate exit!) and then RUN and FIGHT for good seats as Kant Kino in 2015 still hasn't managed to organize a ticket/selling system combined with seats reservation. I guess the cinemas of Yorck Group generally don"t sell seats reservations, but somehow it all works better in other locations. To sum up - I'm sorry to say that but I guess I will try to avoid Kant Kino in the future - not due to its program but due to its bad logistic conditions.

Even the fact that they don't sale pop-corn (I love pop-corn when I watch movies), but what I find annoying is the room. I mean going to the movies is at the end about watching the actual films. I've only been to room #1, the chairs are made of concrete (no problem here) but the rows are not above enough the previous so if you are in the back, then your view is going to be blocked by the persons sitting in front. We had to move to the first row to avoid this, but we discover if we sat normally we would block the projector beam (wtf), so we had to keep our heads down there as well. I will probably go there and check some screening at the bar, but I am not going again to watch a film inside that room.

Weiter hinten gibt es noch eine große Bar(/Kasse), in der auch Filme auf der Leinwand gespielt werden können. Es gibt zwei Kinosäle. In einem der Säle wurden die Sitze komplett aus Backstein gebaut. Es gibt Einzel- und Doppelsitze. Getränkepreise sind fair, der Herr an der Bar/Kasse war sehr freundlich, Ton und Bild waren super und unser Gildepass war auch gültig. Bei nächsten Mal in Berlin ist das Sputnik definitiv wieder einen Besuch wert!

It's conveniently located in one of Berlin's major transit hubs, so that is really nice. The seats are comfortable and the screens are fine. I get annoyed that they have long intermissions in films that shouldn't have them, but what I find most galling is that they charge you an extra Euro to see a long movie. Are you kidding me? Oh, also, I asked for butter on my popcorn once and the lady behind the counter looked at me like I had two heads. ::sigh::
