Aroy Aroy is a modern, hipster Thai restaurant.
All the food was good, and clearly the chef is top notch. The Pad Thai was one of the best I've ever had. The papaya salad was perfectly spicy. The peanut sauce of the chicken satay was divine. The mango sticky rice was wonderful and warm! The red curry was good and made for the local customer base.
The dishes are presented beautifully and plated more for individual meals rather than traditional sharing style in Thailand. Of course this works well in the local culture of Germany.
Regarding reservations, it's best to call on the phone to reserve a table. We had reserved over Facebook and received a quick confirmation, but then it was not communicated to the team and not written down in their schedule. So the result was no table for us. They were able to set up a small table for us, but I would have preferred a bigger one like the other diners had so we could have all the food at once for Thai sharing style. The table was just too small for this so it didn't work out how I prefer. Of course it was fine, but I will continue to dream of a day when online reservations work reliably and consistently in Germany.
Overall, really good Thai food presented nicely, but not really set up for sharing, and make sure to call on the phone for a reservation! read more
