We were able to check in early as the friendly concierge was able to give us a call right after our room was ready, and even had our luggage moved to the room before we got to our room. The hotel staff also delivered newspapers to us in the morning as well as had a wonderful shoe shine service. Turn-down service is something you have to request every evening, but even then, it is worth the phone call just to replenish the coffee and tea in the room and get some water. Speaking of coffee and tea, they don't have a coffee maker in the room, instead using a kettle to make both tea and instant coffee. Also missing was an iPod dock, which is an interesting oversight since I would rather listen to some good music than watch foreign language television in the room! The bar downstairs is very trendy with some really good and well-priced snack and menu options. I loved the garlic fries after spending an entire day walking in the old city and drinking the alt beer. Checkout was plain and efficient. You get what you pay, and the stay was memorable.

Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations and I felt like I stayed at a fading place with only a shadow of its beautiful past. My room was small and outdated, also not perfectly clean. The bathroom was in need of some major renovation. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

Even when the construction is completed, there will only be very limited parking available. On my first stay I had to wait over thirty minutes to check in and I arrived at check-in time. My room was recently renovated but it wasn't that impressive and I was given a room with no view. This hotel is within walking distance to a bridge that crosses the harbor so that you can walk to the Rheinturm. The staff gave me good directions to where I wanted to go. Everyone that I encountered spoke good English and were polite. On my second visit I was given a room on the top floor with an excellent view of the Rheinturm; what a difference! There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. As an Elite Platinum member, I was disappointed that I was charged for WIFI but was pleased that I got a nice view on my second stay.

We went over the Holidays and the hotel is very convenient to the Christmas Markets and high end shopping is very close by. During the trade show we were here to attend, they go for $2300 per night. They were less than $600 when we booked many months ago. That is actually competitive when compared to tiny horrible places we have stayed before for about $400 a night. My company is generous and understanding so this type of hotel is definitely a treat. Hard to call my wife back home to describe the marble interior, the spiral staircases, the private living rooms, fully stocked and complementary mini fridges, waterfall showers, huge tub, bidet, electronically controlled drapes, luxury towels and robes, turn down service, killer bed and pillows, garden views, perfect location next to Old Town, fast wifi, the most amazing complementary breakfasts and killer lounge. Yes, dear, business travel sucks.

Another plus is its walkable distance to Düsseldorf Central Train Station - just about 8 minutes on foot. The entire building is renovated and modern, and the lobby is nicely decorated. The only noticeable minus for me was the very small and slow elevator, which a few times I had to wait for a couple of minutes. My check-in was fast and easy. The only small issue was that I didn't get the highest-floor room I was promised through Booking.com chat. A day before arrival, they confirmed they had reserved a 5th-floor room for me, but in the end, I didn't get it. Overall, the hotel's staff were nice and friendly. My Standard Single Room (#313) was the right size for one person, modern, stylish, and spotlessly clean. All the furniture was in perfect condition. I liked the large window, which let in plenty of natural daylight, and it could be opened fully for fresh air. The city view from my room was also lovely. The twin bed was very comfortable. The hotel provided a couple of free bottles of water along with tea bags and coffee. I liked the closet section with a luggage bench, refrigerator, and safe. The only minus was that there were just 4 hangers in there. The bathroom was beautifully designed - I absolutely loved it. The only downside was the very tiny shower stall. The amenities were the standard NH brand, and I liked both their quality and scent. I also really appreciated the modern and powerful hairdryer. The hotel's Wi-Fi worked very fast. For my stay I paid €56 per night (plus €3 per night city tax), and I found this rate very reasonable for the overall high quality of the hotel. I can absolutely recommend this NH Hotel for a stay in Düsseldorf, especially if your goal is to be in the city center and close to the Central Train Station.

Added to that are little complimentary bottles of lotion, shower gel and shampoo. There wasn't much counter space in the bathroom though. Now, for the cons- the mattress was very hard and I had a rough night sleeping and woke up with a sore neck/back. We were put on the 2nd floor and apparently windows are thin so we could hear people talking outside late at night. And then of course, we were awoken by LOUD construction noise. Apparently the next building over, they're doing major construction and our room happened to be closest to it. Imagine awakening up to that at 7:30am. I wish they would've placed us in the opposite side of the hotel! WiFi is very spotty but you can upgrade to a higher speed if you want. The staff was really nice.

While I did like this hotel, there were just too many small annoyances that make it a true 4 star for me. Pros - inexpensive - we were here during a huge trade show, and rates were very competitive, particularly considering this is a boutique-ish property - very friendly and courteous staff - probably the real reason I didn't want to give 3 stars - the front desk staff were so nice - two free bottles of water and two free beers (ok, so they're Becks. They're free) waiting in the fridge - walking distance to the Altstadt, konigsallee and mediahafen (if you consider a mile walking distance. This may be too far for some folks). This may also be a con. - clean - fridge - water heater - lots of bakeries, convenience stores nearby - the 703 tram stops nearby, takes you to the altstadt if you don't feel like walking or taking a cab, fare is 2,50€ Cons - odd location in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure this is why the rates are relatively low. It's about equidistant from the mediahafen and the altstadt/konigsallee, and not really close to any points of interest. It's a 6-7€ cab ride to the altstadt in the evening (with little traffic) - tiny rooms. We got a business double and it was probably just over 200 sq ft. - the door key was faulty - may have been an isolated issue, but we had to wave the key in front if the sensor for 5-10 seconds before the door would unlock. Minor, sure, but still an annoyance - the bathroom door is glass, with frosting in the middle portion and no lock. There's a good 1/2" opening at the top and bottom, which prevents none of the sounds (or smells) from escaping into your tiny room. If you're staying with someone else, check your modesty at the front desk. The breakfast buffet is pretty standard - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, an assortment of breads, cold cuts and cheeses, cereals, juices, coffee, etc - you get the picture. If you're looking for a hot breakfast, I'm not sure there are many other options nearby. And at 15€, I'd rather grab some pastries and coffee at one of the many bakeries within three blocks of the hotel. If prices were equal, and allowing enough lead time they may be, I'd prefer the convenience of staying in the mediahafen (I stayed at the Radisson Blu Harbour previously, it was REALLY nice and reasonable) or the altstadt. But, if the prices elsewhere were prohibitive, I would stay here again.

After living many years in Duesseldorf, we decided to stay in this charming looking hotel instead…read moreof an average one also because of the location. While I can imagine to recommend to others and come back myself, we were both nevertheless very disappointed about the room and service. While the check in was done in a professional and quick way, the check out was a desaster not only because we had to wait as the system/ PC stopped working and we had to let our friends wait, and we also stayed calm and quiet, the receptionist was totally stressed and we were the only guests at this moment, very patiently waiting. Even the colleague who was apparenty more responsible for the breakfast room could not bring her down.it stressed me much more than the 10 min waiting for the PC to restart! The breakfast was ok, with also some fresh fruits. On Sunday, at least there was somebody friendly to ask if everything is ok, coffee needed etc., while on Saturday, none of the used tables were cleaned or even one table done for 2 people- so we did ourselves. When the responsible finally started to clean towards the end of our breakfast, we escaped quickly as she was so hectical and loud that was a pain. the room was very quiet and clean. I had somehow expected something with more charme- similar to the design of the hotel from outside and in entrance area. The towels are as such that they seemed more like in a simple Asian bed and breakfast, also the closet in the entrance is more 70'ies style Also, I was disappointed that I had to leave our room unlocked as they couldn't provide us with a 2nd key and my husband decided to have a long night out, while pregnant in 6th month, I was returning well before midnight Yes, the hotel is safe but.I really don't feel comfortable or relaxed with a unlocked door. Overall: great location, bit overprized in comparison, quiet and clean (but simple/ rather average) room, and parking in the close public parking is 28EUR/ day. If we hadn't come with so high expectations due to traveling intensively over 10yrs to dozens of different hotels and also due to the charme expected inside, we would be maybe more positive and give 4* we might give a try when coming back to Duesseldorf, let's see!

Oh, and the rooms are massive and priced perfectly, and their brand news, super cozy, and best of all quiet. Staff is top notch and accommodating to all the request you may have. Breakfast is fantastic, the Gym is big...nothing more to say, this place is really really good and I put it at the top of the list.
