I've first heard about her…read morewhen I was still in my country (Brazil) doing some research about doctors in the Philippines. After all, I would deliver my baby far from my family in a foreign land and I needed to find someone reliable to assist me. I've Googled some obvious key words like "good ob-gyne manila" and I've found a blog by a Brazilian woman who had lived in Manila some years ago. Thanks to the internet, people can share their experiences (hey, Yelp!). This woman was saying lots of great things about Dr. Henson, so I wrote down her name in my Moleskine. The plan was setting an appointment as soon as I arrived in Manila. That's what I did. I was 5 months pregnant, if I'm not mistaken. The first impression of her was very positive. She's very cool. And fashionable. She wears unique clothes. Actually, the first thing I've noticed when I entered the room were her signature glasses - thick, round and black, just like Harry Potter! By her clinic, you can also tell she's a design fan. She has miniatures of designed chairs as part of the decor. Ok, you may be wondering: "what doest it matter if a doctor is fashionable or not? I want to know if she's skilled!". I tell you: yes, she is VERY skilled. But she's also VERY talkative, so you have to make sure you talk too. I mean, make sure to find ways to make all your questions. I had a great experience with her, but I know some people just get stressed because they feel she's not listening to them. It's up to you. I've never had this feeling, though. She did a great job during my labor and delivery and my baby was born healthy and strong :) Another thing I like about Dr. Henson is that she always text you back when you send her some message. Being text friendly is something I really appreciate in a doctor. She replies really fast, what is great for anxious people like me. I usually go to St. Luke's, but she also has a clinic at Makati Med. Time Day at St. Luke's Hospital: M-Th 2-5 PM; F 9-12 NN Office number/Location 789-7700 L7125

Message to the public. Karada is not a legitimate provider of Chiropractic care. Their therapists…read morereceive 2-3 weeks of training compared to the real chiropractors who train for 7 years in a university level post graduate course. As already posted to a yelp, it is shameful that they allow their posting under Chiropractors. We have many patients who are under proper and safe chiropractic care but who also receive Karada massage services. I appreciate that they can get a decent massage there as we both serve the public. However, it is a public misrepresentation to place Karada under the classification of chiropractors. They are not registered with the department of health like a chiropractor is. You can verify the legitimacy of my post as I am a US trained chiropractor and the CEO of Mabuhay Chiropractic Clinics, a Philippine corporation operating 16 clinic branches throughout the Philippines. Enjoy your massage but please, please do not put your spine and nerves at risk by letting them manipulate your spinal joints. They are not qualified, they do not X-ray the spine before that as we do. You can consider this is a public service message from a responsible professional of the chiropractic profession.

I met Dr. Elmie Ragas in Cagayan de Oro through my host during a Mindanao trip. Dr. Ragas talked…read moreabout the organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs she and her husband were planting in Mindanao and turning into natural supplements. It was interesting as she had these eye drops from natural flower enzymes that reportedly cured eye diseases like cataracts. I bought some of these and gave it to my family and relatives. My grandmother's blurred vision gradually improved. My relatives with minor eye problems also reported better vision. Dr. Ragas has other supplements, but it is the eye drops that I really keep buying as they are what my family and relatives need. And the price is far lower that that of other supplements, which would usually be P1000 or up for a bottle - I suppose it's because the ones from Dr. Ragas are locally made. While her clinic is really based in Mindanao, she also shares a clinic with other doctors in Paco, in the same building as the L'eau Vive restaurant, and across Robinson's. She has supplements in stock there, where I went to for my next purchases. She flies occasionally to Manila also to give workshops. I attended her workshop on the importance of knowing your dominant hand (left or right) and your blood type, and acting accordingly. I found that there are certain food, exercises, and health practices more suited for certain blood types and dominant hand. For example, for my blood type and my dominant hand, I am more suited for a hard massage than a soft massage. Actually, that's what I preferred even before I attended this workshop. To demonstrate whether a certain food or health practice is beneficial to a person or not, Dr. Ragas conducts the muscle strength test - after eating, or even smelling, that certain food or doing that health practice, does the person's muscles weaken or strengthen? Interestingly enough, my muscles weakened with a soft massage and they strengthened with a hard massage. Of course, this is not yet 100% proven science but it's nice to know this information and apply it especially if it won't hurt to do so and would more likely benefit.

Living in Manila can leave you a bit worn out and weary - this weather! This traffic! Repeat. One of my go-to stress relievers is Nuat Thai. As the name suggests, their speciality is the pindot-pindot Thai massage. I am not a fan of this (so why do I go to this place, noh?!) but thankfully they do quality hagod-hagod Swedish too! They recently increased their price but for good reasons: they've expanded with newly renovated massage areas, therapists that seem more awake than ever and less instances of having no therapists available. Relaxing, indeed.
