Went to this doctor because she was interviewed on NPR and sounded like a concerned physician who took the time to completely diagnose and treat her patients. She does not accept insurance so is self-pay only. Had a difficult time getting an appt., supposedly they had SO may people trying to see her they were completely booked for months. Finally got an appt. scheduled due to a "cancellation" by someone else. Arrived at office, very small, not well-appointed, receptionist friendly tho, waited quite awhile (30 min. +) although I'd arrived early and had already filled out paperwork. Was shown into exam room, the usual Dr. stuff like weight, height, etc by nurse, who also asked a few brief questions. Dr. Arnett finally came in and took a long and extremely detailed history and questionnaire, which at the time I questioned to myself because her notes appeared to be completely random, unorganized, and illegible. She did a complete physical but nothing in depth like a pelvic or breast exam, told me I'd have to go to a gynecologist for those. After about an hour, she appeared satisfied with her questionnaire and sent me to next room for blood draw, then I was dismissed to receptionist. I asked when I'd know results of the blood work as I was not feeling well and wanted to know what was going on, Dr. said it would be "mid next week" (this was a Thursday). Paid my bill, which was $589 out of pocket for this visit and bloodwork. The following Wednesday I called her office to see if blood results were in yet and was told they "hadn't come in". Called Thursday, results were in, but was told that they "couldn't be sent to me because of office policy, you'll have to make another appt. to see the Dr. and she'll go over them with you." Asked when I could get another appt. and was told they couldn't get me in until the following month because the Dr. was "going on vacation". I was quite ill by this time and needed to see a Dr. ASAP. I told receptionist and then the nurse this and said I needed my bloodwork to take to another Dr. since there would be such a long delay in seeing me; they REFUSED although I had already paid. I had to lodge a complaint with the Commonwealth of VA / Dept. of Health Professions and have them contact Dr. Arnett and FORCE her to release my blood results to me. I then received a very rude letter from Dr. Arnett telling me that she could "no longer serve as my physician" because I had "threatened" her and her staff. I also have a copy of the questionnaire she filled out when talking to me during the exam and there are serious errors, things I DID NOT tell her, like a note that my Dad was a heavy drinker when he NEVER drank! DO NOT PUT YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING IN THIS DOCTOR. In my opinion she is only concerned with the money she can make off of you, not with your health! read more
