They didn't just clean the things we could see, they dug deep into every exhaust fan, surface, toilet, etc. and cleaned out things that I had no idea even needed it. I was amazed at the amount dust, dirt, and grime that they got out of the place (and this was for a well maintained condo that looked clean to start with). Their attention to detail was incredible, after cleaning everything with steam it is literally spotless. I am planning to do my own routine cleaning and Lee was very generous sharing tips about how I could keep things clean just the way she does. She was willing to tell me exactly what tools and products to use. Lee, Bill, and the whole team were very helpful when I asked questions for their advice about how to maintain things in general. I know I won't keep it up as well as they do, though, so my husband and I are both already thinking it might be good to hire them for an annual deep clean. (And my husband usually isn't impressed by things like this, but the job they did impressed him a lot!) The whole team really went above and beyond. Just as a shot in the dark I showed them some lint that was trapped in the back of our dryer to see if they had any recommendations for how to get it out or someone to hire to clean it out. Another company had already come out to clean our dryer vent and said they couldn't get it out. I'd also talked to a washer/dryer technician who had told me the only way to get it out would be to have someone take the whole washer/dryer unit out of the closet and remove the back from the dryer, which was going to cost a lot and wasn't guaranteed to work. The lint/dryer problem was really beyond the scope of the cleaning I'd hired We Clean Green to do and I did not expect them to do anything with it, just thought they might have some suggestions. Well they did more than that! They said they'd look at it and somehow using their steam and their magic powers they got it out! This alone has saved us a lot of money, time, and worry. I'm so glad we hired them!

I've used organizers before, and *people* there is a reason they are professionals! oh my goodness... it's been 1.5 years since we organized my house, and it stays clean because there really is a "place for everything, so everything is in it's place"! Regarding my professional stuff: she helped me narrow down my goal, and put into place a plan of action. For example, rather than assessing a problem and giving me a solution, she asked me questions to find the right solution *for me*. While I spoke, she -really- listened and then pulled out phrases I repeated, analogies I made, and then we dove deeper into the root of that thinking, and put into place action plans to improve. Actually, she also sent me some "homework" inbetween calls, where I could select 3 of 10 things to work on inbetween appointments. My choice! Her pricing is suuuper reasonable, and sign up for her emails and she often has specials. She also teaches a lot of classes for organizations and community centers-- so watch her calendar and attend the free ones! Really people SO WORTH IT. Cannot recommend this service enough. During a kitchen redesign, Mark sketched a clever reconfiguration of our refrigerator and washer/dryer layouts. This new arrangement breathed new life into the dining area and opened up space! His ideas are sophisticated but he's able to execute the approach in a way that's practical so the contractors doing the grunt work are able to run with it. And let me tell you from the horror stories I've heard when designers/engineers/contractors can't see eye to eye, you don't want to be caught in the middle of that my friends! Especially if it's in your own house! Mark also made some great recommendations for a custom marble coffee table. My handyman Uncle had a beautiful slab of marble in his backyard for years and was kind enough to donate it to me. We wanted to design a minimal steel base that would complement our modern white leather couch in the living room. Mark drew up some plans -- but perhaps most impressive was that he was able to point us to a metal worker in Suburban Chicago! A graceful referral such as this is priceless! To end it with a Seinfeld nod... if you need help with your next design project.. these guys are the "Master of your domain!"

Matt and Elizabeth are creative thinkers who don't compromise function for aesthetics - an important trait in architects who dream big and then when it comes time to living/working in the space, you realize how dysfunctional "the big design" is. I can't tell you the number of compliments I receive and I can't adequately explain just how great it feels to be in the space. This isn't the synthetic grass your grandma used to have. The assortment of different turfs available on site is amazing. Who knew that synthetic turf came in so many different variations and lengths? I walked out with the "streetervile" and couldn't be more happy with the recommendation. The staff cut the turf precisely to the size I requested and it fit my balcony perfectly. Living in a downtown chicago high rise, I missed the feeling of stepping out my door and feeling grass under my feet. Well now I can have the feeling of soft grass under my toes any time I step on to my balcony. Installation of this high quality turf was a breeze. I honestly believe that the turf I placed on my balcony is better quality than what the chicago bears practice on in lake forest. The synthetic turf just looks so real.

Before just hiring a general contractor, we talked to Jereme to see if he had some design ideas that would be more interesting than just "knock down some walls and put new drywall up." Jereme worked really hard to keep within budget while still adding some fun touches that everyone comments on, like a reclaimed wood soffit that defines the kitchen area. He also used every square inch of the home to make sure we didn't have any wasted spaces. We used barn doors to make old bathrooms feel bigger and built ins to make the most of slanted attic walls. Overall, everything was on time and any extras were clearly laid out. Communication over email was great and he was very organized as we went along with the to do list and keeping all of the contractors on task. I would highly recommend Design Insight and will definitely use them again if we buy another house.

A gorgeous, spacious, cook's kitchen, open floor plan, open curved staircase to basement, mud room and outdoor BBQ station. Jereme is a creative architect with a keen eye for details...not to mention a great, easy-going guy! We had a couple of initial meetings to discuss our wants and needs and then Jereme dove into the design and ultimately presented a few design concepts. We quickly zeroed in on the one that seemed best and collectively tweaked the design and components to best suit our needs. Jereme hired the construction crew and personally directed and supervised their work. He was on the site every day and in frequent contact with us. The end result is FABULOUS and more than we hoped for!! Jereme was great to work with. Very responsive to all of our questions, concerns and ideas...and he never showed any ego. He was also extremely budget conscious and economical. The project took longer than quoted, but the end result is a 10!! Highly recommended!!!

I had the good…read morefortune of having Matt Nardella referred to me by a mutual friend when I was desperately looking for an architect to turn the sow's ear of a building I bought on Milwaukee to turn into artist live/work space (Basa Building, 2912 N. Milwaukee). I will spare you the gory details, but we worked together for over a year and a half. He turned the most disgusting dump into a solid, clean, sleek, innovative, inspiring, energy-efficient, light-filled floor of studio spaces. Directly because of Matt's design, I'm having no problem renting the spaces. Matt's not a prima donna designer, either. He would go get in line at the Building Department at 6 AM -- and he did this as many times as it took -- so that he could personally shepherd my unusual project through the wringer of the City's approval process. We had some tricky stuff pulled on us by Zoning that ended up involving the Alderman's intervention, but through it all Matt told me exactly what I needed to do -- and it worked. When my first contractor got put in jail (another story), he found me another one who is outstanding, Helios Design. They saved my butt. It's because of Matt that I didn't have a nervous breakdown and lose my shirt with this project.

Our project was to completely remodel the kitchen of our Downers Grove house. We shopped around…read morequite a bit across the well established builders in the suburbs of Chicagoland area. We decided to go with Normandy Builders and we couldnt have been happier with the overall experience - from design to completion and post completion support! Our designer, Bryan Brisky, was one of the reasons my wife leaned towards Normandy, she felt very comfortable with the relationship she built and the straight forward and well established grounding the designer brought in to our project. The overall vision my wife had for the project was quite different and part of creativity was successful because of the insight Bryan provided. He not only listened to what my wife wanted, but also provided fiscally responsible decision points that helped us ensure we didnt go over/above what we should spend (bang for buck). Once the project kicked off, one of the best things that happened to us was we were assigned Chris Tomko. He truly was the most amazing person outside of our designer from Normandy that made the process completely seamless. Case in point, we had a pre-planned vacation for a week and Chris was checking in daily with the progress of our project as he normally did but was very extra involved to ensure we werent nervous all while construciton was ongoing during our vacation. There were several timelines within our project that were hit right on the time as planned, if not earlier, all while supply issues happened - Normandy has a very good reputation and flex with their vendors so it was good to get proper results even when things didnt go well since they made things right. Example, some of our cabinetry wasnt fully perfect, minor flaws but they re-ordered and replaced them. Our project entailed several plumbing, electrical, drywall, etc. milestones and Normandy worked seamlessly with the village permit department and pre-post inspection approvals. During construction there were no problems, at all, Normady fixed any issues as needed that impacted our existing house if anything happened. Example, we had a minor drywall scrape and they fixed it. Of course, we paid as part of our fees the use of air filters, coverings for furniture, close out of rooms so dust doesnt go to those rooms, etc but we definately GOT WHAT WE PAID FOR in the end. My project also included adding a new sub-panel in my basement for electricity for my higher grade appliances, new coffee station with built in cabinetry, bigger exaust output and input for air, electric car supply to my garage via basement. Normandy continues to ensure quality is of utmost improtance - backed by 5 years of warranty for workmanship. I had them stop by to re-caulk the kitchen area and they are very good at just standing behind their work. Yes, it was a bit more than other builders but i was happy parting away with a small percentage extra because it turned out to be the best way to put my money to work. Had I gone with other bigger builders or smaller ones, I am not sure if I would be given attention AFTER THE PROJECT WAS COMPLETED! Initial timeline from Normandy, written in the contract, was 9 months. After 5 months, Normandy could not produce accurate architectural drawings - they initially estimated drawings to be complete in 4-6 weeks. Basic items like location of existing windows, elevation labels, and incorrectly placing 2nd floor bathroom layout on 1st floor, are a few examples of Normandy's incompetence. Normandy reported having requested a building permit, until I asked for confirmation, then Normandy admitted the request for a permit was not made (one of many lies). When issues were escalated, each next "manager" blamed the previous person's incompetence. After 5 months, there was not one person that could answer basic questions from Normandy's drawings (Danny, Leslie, and Ashely are equally incompetent). Troy Pavelka (Normandy's Vice President) is the most dishonest and incompetent of the group. Troy's response to every issue was to ask for more money and time. When I insisted Normandy adhere to the contract budget, timeline, and statement of work, Troy requested to cancel the contract. Only a dishonest company like Normandy would cancel a contract they wrote. I should not have ignored all the other reviews of Normandy showing the pattern of dishonesty and incompetence.
