I wanted to share my recommendation for Arizona Eye Specialists in Gilbert, Arizona. It is an outstanding office and an excellent choice for medical and general eye care. The facility is located in a large medical complex with convenient and ample parking. Dr. Elliott Janousek, O.D., is an exceptional professional. He provides comprehensive eye exams that check visual acuity, depth perception, and eye coordination to detect issues like cataracts or macular degeneration. He also performs systemic health screenings to identify overall health issues affecting the eyes, such as diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, Dr. Janousek is highly skilled in prescribing topical and oral medications for eye infections, allergies, and inflammation, and he provides excellent surgical co-management before and after procedures performed by their seasoned ophthalmologist. The eye exam process is very efficient. The optical technician, Heep, is professional and thorough during the initial medical review and pressure testing. The practice also utilizes retinal and fundus photography to capture detailed digital images of the inside of the eye to screen for diseases. The administrative staff is equally wonderful. Maddy at the reception desk is always cheerful, helpful, and accommodating with scheduling. Please note that this is a very popular and busy office. I highly recommend scheduling any follow-up appointments on the same day as your visit to avoid scheduling delays. read more

This office is impossible to schedule with. I received a referral back in July 2024 and never heard back. After following up with my PCP, they resent the referral, and someone finally called me in early August. The earliest available appointment was in October, but a week before the appointment, it was canceled. I rescheduled for November, and on the morning of that appointment, they canceled again. To make matters worse, they only send text messages to notify you of cancellations--no calls to explain or help reschedule. After this frustrating and unprofessional experience, I gave up and went elsewhere. read more

Seeing all the negative reviews was really no surprise. When the tech gets frustrated with my elderly Father in Law with Parkinsons to the absolute clown show of Dr. Winkler, the professionalism and care was beyond poor. Dr. Winkler just walked in, said nothing and started grilling the patient over his new complaint. He never allowed the patient to explain, gave a 8 minute eye exam, and made it obvious he was in a rush and we were not important. Obvious. Hope to never go back in there and hope someone from this practice reads these reviews and retrains staff starting with Winkler. Had I been the patient I would have walked out on you. read more

DO NOT USE ARIZONA EYE SPECIALIST! This was our first time using Arizona Eye Specialist, initially at their Baseline, Gilbert office. This will be the last time we use Arizona Eye Specialist for our annual eye exams or anything to do with our eye care. My spouse Pamela was diagnosed with dry eyes by Dr. Elliott Janousek, and was prescribed Xiidra for this condition. This medication costs $2,140 for a 3 month supply, and caused her eyes to constantly tear. Next, the eye glass sales person, Glenna M., sold Pamela eyeglass frames that when the lens were installed, would continually slide down her nose. We went back to Glenna to report this condition. Glenna stated that Arizona Eye Specialist would not exchange the frames for ones that would stay on her nose. Glenna's only solution was to have Pamela come back weekly to have the temples on the frames tightened. The eyeglass showroom is located on Brown Rd, in Mesa, which is 16 miles each way from our home. NOT CONVENIENT to do every week. Today, 06/07/24, Glenna stated again that Arizona Eye Specialist would not replace the eyeglass frames and stated that Woolf Eye Care Center may be able to correct the frame issue. HORRIBLE experience! I walked out of the exam and told the technician I did not want to be a patient here. Both technicians were unprofessional. Talking loudly about personal business, eager to leave for the day. One pulled down her mask so she could blow a big bubble with her gum. Nevermind COVID and the mask requirement on their door. My technician was rude, disorganized and seemed incompetent. Gave poor instructions and instead of TELLING me how to reposition my head in the exam chair, PUSHED my head over. Started asking me insurance questions half way through the exam and asked me if I knew it would be $60 if I wanted my eye prescription. Put eye drops in my eyes without washing her hands. Just completely unprofessional and zero class. And also never introduced herself. I would give zero stars, but the receptionist did a fine job, despite having to work with these two technicians. I had an appointment at 3:15. The wait was a little longer than I wanted but I felt like I was in very capable and caring professional hands. Everyone was respectful and both my husband and I feel we were well cared for. The entire team was very quick to answer our questions and we both appreciated that. I was starting to realize my eyesight was deteriorating, with hazy vision during the day and severe haloing at night. Heck it even got so bad that I was hitting the golfball further than I could see. And I don't hit the ball very far. I was referred to Dr Winkler and it became apparent that I had a cataract in my dominant eye. We quickly scheduled a surgery and after a 10 minute procedure, my vision is clear and I am now able to see that I need golf lessons. Great staff, great Dr, great results. read more

I have been coming to this place for a few years now and very happy with their service. Dr. Goldman and Dr. Winkler are great to work with and take the time needed to explain results. The staff is very nice and responsive. Office is clean and they have taken great care to assure patients are safe and distanced in the waiting area.
