A gem in Belgium. Came for a business trip - my partners told me to stay here and I did. Loved this and recommend it. I will let the pictures speak to it. read more

Okay, if you don't have a car then this is probably not the best hotel to book in Ypres since it is…read moreabout 2 miles out of the city centre, which means a bit of a trek to get to the actual places of interest, and the buses run about once every hour, which makes it even worse. However, putting that aside, the hotel is actually really, really good. Despite the fact that it is a Best Western (I'm not a big fan of corporate chains) it was actually a pretty good place to stay. They include breakfast and the rooms are also a pretty decent size as well. However, unless you have a car, it is probably not the best hotel to stay at in Ypres.
Stayed a night here to check out the WWI sites in the area. Service was very friendly and helpful,…read morethe hotel was incredibly clean and our bed(s) the comfiest we had on our entire two weeks traveling in Europe. Quiet too! The best night sleep I had on the trip! The breakfast choices were immense and the food fresh and well stocked. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Note- we had a rental car and chose to drive because the hotel is not super close to the center of town.

Great restaurant downstairs, perfect espresso just across the way and a supermarket next door. Plus this is one of the nicest rooms (with the BEST tub) I have ever stayed in! B&B De Potyze
This place is fantastic. My wife and I had planned on camping outside Ypres, but the camping…read morefacilities weren't up to what we wanted. We searched all the listed B&B and hotels in the area and everything was booked. However, in the back of one of the B&B books from the area was the name of B&B De Potyze, just the name and address, no description. We drove over to see about a vacancy, and as we approached we thought there would be no way they have a vacancy. It was beautiful. A quaint, ivy-covered farm house surrounded by a peaceful garden, in the middle of a field. They did have an opening, and this is a great little secret near Ypres (Ieper), Belgium. The owner was a joy to talk with, and always had a fresh squeezed juice or a beer on offer. It was fantastic. We will definitely be back. Next time we will make a reservation. We were very fortunate to find a vacancy. This is a small, two-room B&B, perfectly appointed. The only downside was the heat in Belgium while we were there and the B&B doesn't have air (like everywhere else in Ypres). Yet, we did enjoy a wonderful electric storm one evening. This B&B sits right on the location of the stalled English-German lines of WWI.

If you are looking for a nice Hotel/Bed & Breakfast whilst visiting Ypres or the WW1 battle fields…read morethen this place is perfect. The building is beautiful & rooms are modern & clean. It's located right on a trench line & the grounds has one of the original craters from the mines used in the Messin Battle. Breakfast is of a continental type, no full English but always plenty to have. Evening meal is provided if required in the bar/restaurant setting with a limited menu but well cooked & not to expensive. Plenty of parking. Bike rack if you have cycles & free Wi-Fi. I would certainly recommend this place & intend to use it again on my next visit to Ypres. Hooge crater museum & war grave cemetery 200m away.

Good clean and not very expensive hotel to visit the WWI sites and museums in and around Ieper…read more The hotel gives you a 5 min walk about 100m to city square and another 100m to the Flanders Fields Museum. Impressive sights to see. Breakfast is solid and the set menu I. The restaurant has traditional Belgian 'friet' which must be eaten with their mayonnaise! Culture, proximity and friendly personnel makes this the way to visit all the sights of Ieper!
My husband and I checked in to the Novotel Ieper Centrum earlier this evening. We are scheduled to…read morebe here for three nights. We just finished having dinner in the hotel dining room. The food was quite good but what compelled me to write a review immediately was the service and staffing. It took forever to get waited on, to get our food delivered, and to have our plates cleared away. It certainly was not due to laziness on the part of our server. There was only one woman to staff the entire dining room, including seating people, taking orders, delivering food, clearing tables, and on top of all this, she also had to tend the bar. The poor woman was running ragged. I did not see her stop to rest for one second. This poor woman deserves a medal. She was continually cheerful, friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in whether we were enjoying our meal. We asked at the reception desk whether some staff members had called in sick or if this was typical for dining room staffing. We were informed that no one had called in sick and that this was the norm regarding staffing. It is quite apparent to us that management values the bottom line and profit more than the well-being of their employees. I would highly recommend that you avoid this hotel at all cost until they learn to treat their employees with dignity and like human beings. Addendum: In addition, I would like to express my great unhappiness at this hotel. For 2 nights, we have had no air conditioning. The weather had been very hot and humid. Promises have been made yesterday and today to fix the air conditioning which remains broken. We will never stay again at this hotel and recommend that others avoid it as well.
