Awful. We used Argos through Compassionate Pet Vet. Pet Vet and Argos handled our pet's cremation.
My pet's cremation certificate said he was cremated on Monday June 6th. However, we called on Friday May 27th for an update on our baby, and were told by the receptionist, Charity, that our pet would be cremated today - the same day we called, the 27th.
After asking Charity about the June 6th date on his certificate, she said he was for sure cremated on the 27th, but there was a mistake with the certificate.
Basically this mistake occurred due to my pet's papers being mixed up in the wrong stack - she explained that they have papers organized by "waiting to be cremated" and "already cremated" and so on. My pet had already been cremated and no one realized, because his papers were misplaced and not in the "already cremated" pile. Charity said at some point she didn't know where my cat was and she searched everywhere until she learned he was already cremated. As soon as they realized his papers had been misplaced and that my pet had already been cremated, they created the certificate and labeled it June 6th.
I do not understand this because the certificate should be created as soon as the cremation process is done... if he was really cremated on May 27th, why not just label the certificate with May 27th? Why use June 6th?
It also took a long time for him to be sent back home. We called for an update on Thursday June 9th and Charity said he was still in storage. She said to expect him the following Monday, June 13th and he did finally arrive that day. We put him down on May 15th and didn't get him back until a whole month later when we were told it would take 3 weeks. Really upsetting.
Our address was also put down wrong. Not sure if it was Argos or Compassionate Pet Vet that got it wrong but thankfully we called Argos for an update before they ever sent him home and the address was corrected.
Neither Pet Vet or Argos sent any updates to us about the cremation process. It was complete radio silence unless we called Argos for updates. They need to consider a process where they send updates themselves to keep owners in the loop and confirm information.
Charity also confused me for someone else and provided me with wrong info when I called for an update on June 13th. Charity said my pet would arrive at my house and had a tracking number.
Turned out an employee at Argos dropped off my pet in person at my house and my pet arrived in his urn in a small paper bag, with no address or information anywhere on it besides my pet's name on it.
Charity explained Argos delivers local cremations themselves, so there's no tracking numbers. Local deliveries do not have tracking numbers. And she said she confused me for someone else which is why she said my pet had a tracking number.
That is literally so scary - how did the Argos employee make sure he was dropping off my baby at the correct house? He literally handed me the bag and left, didn't ask who I was or confirm anything with me.
I do not recommend sending your pet here. Not worth the possible mix ups, long wait times, lack of communication, confusion, etc.
I'm still very upset, confused, and paranoid. Did I really get my baby back? Was he cremated on May 27th or June 6th? I literally don't care when he was cremated, I just want honesty. Why and how were his papers misplaced? Why wasn't his certificate made as soon as he was cremated? How long were they looking for him without telling us there was a mistake? Was my baby treated with respect? Are they telling me the truth?
They never called to let us know there was a mix up, that a mistake was made, and were never going to tell us on their own because again, it was complete radio silence unless we called.
I don't know how many times I have changed this review. I'm literally so dissapointed, sad, and furious.
I put trust in you guys to do what I can't and like another reviewer said, you failed me. read more
