I brought 77gr OTM and he didn't know what OTM means. also he doesn't know that they only make steel core in 62 grain. first responders shoot for free. Nice little store with plenty of firearms and ammo for sale. I recommend going in store to actually talk to someone if you need something though. I tried calling to see about a firearm I had ordered online and had shipped to their store. After going through 5 minutes of "press this button for this option", I finally was able to get a hold of an actual person and not just an automated response. I asked if they had received my firearm because I had an email saying it was delivered. All they told me they didn't know and would call me when they did... They never asked for my name or number or anything and came across as being annoyed for having to talk to me. I will have future firearms sent to another store for sure. read more

Let start off by saying the staff is great!! The range it self is an ordinary range nothing fancy but it gets the job done! I go about twice a week and I will say I have never had any malfunctions on their end. I will like to add that for all those comments complaining about the "quality" of the equipment and the charge for breaking something; grow up , and learn how to shoot man. If you brake it you pay it. I've never never had a single issue here. The best part of it all is MILITARY SHOOT FOR FREE!! I LOVE IT! I take my own ammo, target, and Weapon. So I don't spend a penny! I have been in market for a new handgun but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. when I walked in Kevin greeted me and we started talking and he started asking questions about what I was looking for. Kevin then started grabbing all different handguns and started telling me about them and showing what he likes and dislikes about them. I walked out with a new gun and a friend. Took my carry permit class here a few weeks ago and I'm not gonna lie,, I was a nervous wreck going in.. I've been wanting to carry for a while but I'd been putting it off due to straight up nerves. I know you don't need a class in TN anymore to carry however I believe taking the class gives you lots of good info that you would otherwise not know (and I was right.) I want to be able protect my family in this crazy world should I ever need to, so I sucked it up and signed up online for a Saturday class. It was about 80ish dollars. You can rent a fire arm and ammo if you need to for an extra charge, but I didn't need to, I was originally going to use my husband's Glock but that changed, you'll see why below....It was the day before Easter so I hoped the class would be smaller that weekend. I think there was 7 of us total. Classroom was a good size and the teacher "Murff" was great! He cut up a lot so it made me feel more at ease. The corse was 8 hours and we got lots of breaks in between plus a 30 minute lunch break. I used my break time to buy me a new pretty. A Teal Glock 43 with roses. Ya ya I'm a sucker for pretty stuff. Anyways, the test is now open book so we were allowed to take notes or snap pics of the screen for later. There is absolutley no way to fail unless you just didn't listen AT ALL. I hardly even used my notes. So my entire class passed. Now time to shoot. My heart hit my throat with more nerves, but we got geared up and entered the shooting range. 75' by the way. Long story short I got a 97! I was so proud and releived to be done. This may not be a big deal to some but for me it was. I shook my instructors hand and thanked him and booked it home to show my hubby! It was a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get a permit. They have new product in all the time and have a huge variety to check out. Can't wait to save up to get me another. Maybe a matching rose gold, Glock! Another good thing is that women shoot free every day! Not to mention this place is the only place you can find ammo for a decent price and in stock right now. Go check them out y'all! read more

Sumner Gun and Supply is a great place for those of us in the Gallatin area. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and always helpful. Prices are reasonable and definitely competitive. They even have a small retail section of reloading supplies. I have used the range several times during the past year and it's always neat and clean. I've seen some reviews complaining about the target equipment...well, I don't think it's reasonable to blame the establishment because some shooters throw wild shots that damage the equipment. I've always been able to find a lane with working equipment. I do wish shot shells were allowed for use on the range, but again, I understand why they are not. The damage they potentially cause is more than most similar businesses could or should accept. It's a reasonable limitation. I've taken one class (LEOSA CCW renewal) and it was excellent. I plan to enroll my wife in a 1 on 1 training session soon. If that goes well, my daughter will be next. read more

People are nice. Range fee is good. Range equipment is poor and does not work more than half the time. Target tracks are made from barn door tracks and constantly break down. The real problem is safety. There is no supervision on the range. On weekends when it is busy you will get muzzled with unloaded guns. If that is not bad enough there is a high probability you will get muzzled with a loaded gun. Like I said, there is no supervision on the range. People constantly shoot out lights, the tracks, the walls, the posts, etc. and no one seems to care. The shooting station dividers are just plywood, so you have no protection from the idiot 3 lanes down dancing around with his loaded weapon because he got hot brass down his shirt. This is a range where someone will get shot some day. It is not a matter of if, it is a definite when. read more

I wanted to rate this establishment higher, I really did. The range is decent, and pricing is definitely reasonable. However, upon exiting the firing range, an employee I didnt catch the name of decided to make an extremely disrespectful statement. His joke was implying that they were collecting loose change, credit cards, etc, in order purchase ammo. I said "I can't afford to buy anyone else ammo. I work security downtown in Nashville." His response was "Oh. Work security and probably on welfare, too." I'm a disabled combat veteran, and prior law enforcement. To me, having never used any government benefits in my life, this was absolutely uncalled for. After I started walking out, informing them I wouldn't be returning due to the disrespectful nature of comments made by employees. My husband and I started going here a few months ago and decided to apply for our carry permits. The staff is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. If you ask a question they will get you an answer. We took our class and passed and then decided after looking at some other ranges that we would get our membership here at Sumner Gun&Supply. Prices are very reasonable. They have a good inventory of guns for sale and you can even rent one if your not sure. They have many classes and corses that you can sign up for to improve your shooting or to just be better or have more knowledge about laws and rules. It's been a long time since I was into guns and times have changed but this establishment has made it very comfortable and has given me the knowledge I need in order for me to own my own handgun again. sumner gun and supply is new to the gun range arena. they said they have been open for about a year and just opened their range up jan 4th 2012. it is very well lit, and very well ventilated. i didnt smell gun powder once in the 2 hours i was there. the range is $15.00 to use and they have a couple of odd rules like no rapid firing. but other than that it is a very nice place. you can bring your own ammo, you can even bring your own targets, and if you share a lane it will only cost you $15.00 to shoot. their firearms selection isnt all that, but overall its a nice store. the range is only minutes away from hendersonville and is a LOT better than guns and leather and the people are MUCH MUCH more nicer than the guns and leather personell. i will definately recommend the range at sumner gun and supply. although i think i would BUY firearms from D & T firearms in rivergate or from academy sports in rivergate ( academy has the lowest prices for firearms anywhere, but they dont take trades ). read more
