The Puerta (or Arco) de Regla is also known as "Puerta de la Carne," because it used to be the location of the meat market. The arch was part of the original ancient Islamic wall that surrounded the city. My photos do not show this, but there are actually two twin arches, spaced a few feet apart, one behind the other.
Lots of restaurants nearby, favored by locals, some of the better ones in Rota. Don't stick to the touristy ones on the beach, the real tapas places are in town, with higher-quality, more authentic food, and are a better value. read more
