If you fit in one of those categories you should defiantly visit the Chaosdorf, either to bring your laptop to work on your own stuff and/or to talk with like-minded people. There is also a fully equipped room for soldering. There is basically always somebody around and guests are welcome most of the time. But if you haven't been there before, I recommend to attend one of their public events first. A regular event is the Freitagsfoo, which is every Friday evening. There are talks, discussions and they cook vegan meals. In exchange for a small donation you get Club-Mate, Flora-Mate and other non-alcoholic drinks. Unfortunately they don't offer beer anymore, but you can bring your own or get beer at the kiosk, which is just two doors away.

It's hard to find and I only stumbled on it cuz I was lost on a morning walk. The biergarten is contained deep within a community garden. As a result, I wasn't even sure it would be open to the public. I asked our concierge at the nearby Renaissance hotel about it and she had to research it herself as she didn't know. Once she verified via a web search that the restaurant was open to the public, we wandered over. It's a simple little biergarten offering delicious, well priced German food. We sat outside on picnic table. Inside there was a bingo game going on. Everyone there seemed to be local residents (probably many having gardens there). Eventually another tourist group wandered in, led by someone who knew about this secret Eden. What makes this little spot so amazing is that we arrived in Düsseldorf for the Tour de France. Our hotel was crawling with tour employees and fans, all seeking an authentic German experience. And there it was, just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. My apologies to locals for spilling the secret. Next time we're in this part of Düsseldorf, we will be back. Wait staff super friendly. Cash only. Kitchen open until 9 but bar stays open later.

This zoo is awesome with so many animals and areas for children to have fun when they get restless…read moreor tired of looking at the animals. there are areas for families to have a picnic and there are several different food service areas to grab a bite to eat or a drink. As an adult I found the selection of animals to be pretty nice. You can go inside the bird aviary and one of the monkey pens so you can get up close. I thought that the giraffes and hippos were beautiful. Lots of flamingos and other birds to see as well. there were many educational Displays throughout the zoo to teach the children and adults more about sustainability and the natural habitats where the animals came from. I understand that they have a breeding program. there is also a nice display with dinosaurs including a merry go round and play area with the jurassic Park theme.
