We had done a photo shoot before and that prior one did not feel natural and the pics were not very good. We balked at this because so many are tourist traps operated by non-Mexican large companies, but then we found Vallarta Local and decided to give them a try as they are locally owned. I'm so glad we did. We did the Breakfast Tacos tour and it was one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. AnnaLo was a fantastic guide and educated us not only about the city itself, but the history of different tacos and local cuisine. We visited six taco stands owned by local families, all of which have perfected their own meats and styles. Every taco was better than the last. And the sauces! My gosh, the varied and delicious sauces that each stand offered were unlike anything I've ever had before. It's hard to find sauces like this in America because everything is either not fresh or watered down, and I will never forget the nuances of flavors that every sauce added to every unique taco. Afterwards, we visited a fresh fruit popsicle shop and the place where most local tortillas are made. We both got a freshly made tortilla and a bit of salt and rolled it up to enjoy like a snack while AnnaLo told us about the importance of tortillas and how eating tortillas as a snack reminds most Mexicans of their childhood, picking up tortillas on their way home from school. It was truly a journey and we both left full. By the end, AnnaLo felt less like a tour guide and more like a friend that we've known for a while. Getting to know her was a highlight of the trip in itself. We hope to return to Puerto Vallarta soon, and when we do, we will absolutely be booking another tour.
