It's a beer museum! :) (Yay!!!) ... that doesn't serve beer. :( (womp, womp.) But it's actually still pretty cool... probably better if you can read the native language, though... but we still had fun. If you're really into brewing, you could spend 1.5-2 hours here perusing the many levels easy. If you're just there for the heck of it, 45 minutes it's probably good. Things to know: // It's not free, admission runs about the cost of what a movie would cost you. A fair price, I'd say. // It's more historic than novelty. // Not at all hipster-y like you'd expect. // It's set up kind of like a multi-level labyrinth with ups and downs at every wall so going through is never boring. // They have a whole big area at the end that's a children's playground with some beer-themed play things. Teachin' 'em young. Awesome. // SOME of the figures are animatronic and some are not. They bait you by showing you a bunch of mannequins that don't move, then BAM, you walk into a quiet room and all these robots start canoodling and making noises and drinking beer and it WILL scare the sh*t out of you, but once your heart stops beating out of your chest and your friends stop laughing at you, you'll appreciate the humor of it. // Has a lot of info about the town, the Czech Republic, and Europe in general, so even if you don't care about beer, you can enjoy the historic portions of the museum. // It's attached to a bar, so you can go get your booze fix after, should you so desire.

It's something people should see, so history is not forgotten. The guide was great - giving lots of the history. The museum was just so sad. Lives lost.

I implore you, book your tour as early in the day as possible or you will likely need to stay overnight in the nearby village to continue into the next day. It is A LOT. I pray that history like this does not repeat itself. If you are staying in Prague before or after your visit to Terezin, please make sure that you go to the correct bus pickup after you take the metro to the transfer. We had the incorrect platform information from an outdated guidebook and if you do not know the Czech language, it can be difficult to determine which platform to go to.

It wasn't expensive so we paid to walk through. It is about a 30 minute self-guided tour unless you read all the placards. They are all easy, short reads. The place is a little dusty and dated. Still, it is fun to walk around and discover that your mother's "neck massager" had other purposes. Gasp! Make sure to grab a picture in the chair in the front lobby. It will tell you how hot of a lo er you are. All good fun!

I read Metamorphosis years ago; but now I have a newfound zeal about reading some more of his work. It seemed like the layout of the museum was intentional because it was not the easiest to get around......much like Kafka's life. If you think you cannot find a good vintage copy of one his books in Prague; try one of the Antikvariat stores. I found a pretty nice one in Czech from 1968.

The rather ironic thing of this museum is that it's in the same building as a casino and right next door to a McDonald's. It's about $8 to get in. There is a discount for students. Small gift shop at ticket desk. Bathrooms inside too.

I'm terrible at history, but I really enjoy learning about the history of the places I travel to. I don't know too much about communism, so I thought that the Museum of Communism would be the perfect place to learn what exactly is communism, how it started, and how it affected the Czech Republic. Well, it was quite disappointing, and not worth the money. I came out of there still not having a clue about communism and how it started, and it was a small, shabby, run down museum. A little depressing, actually. I'd only recommend going if it's late at night, everything else is closed, you have nothing better to do, and you just happen to be in the area--don't go out of your way to find it. Speaking about finding it, it's not well marked and hard to find. The Lonely Planet book said it was above a McDonald's, and that was extremely helpful. If it weren't for that tip, I would never have found it, despite having the address. To get to the museum, you have to enter through a casino, which is filled with cigarette smoke, and there is no elevator, just stairs, so it's not accessible for people in wheelchairs, or for people who like to breathe.

He had some interesting items, but his guided 'tour' took my interest away after he continually blared the techno music dubbed over the Russian army displays that were on the tv. Here is a quote 'you can only kill someone by accident by stabbing them in the chest'. I'm any case it too long was more about how he knew how to kill with the weapons he had (a ballistic knife for example). Also not cheap. I'd either avoid or take someone who knows Russian so they can tell you what the artifacts he had and if they were real

An overall outstanding museum with great variety, and a wonderful building…read more Natural history exhibits can get dry and encyclopedic, but they did a great job with the Evolution exhibit tying together narratives and creating connections. There is an awful lot of history to cover, and they do a good job hitting highlights and providing depth on certain topics. Really good amount of meaningful artifacts from all eras. Be sure to make the trek to the 20th Century history exhibit in the New Building, it's included in admission. There was a temporary exhibit, fairly simple but modern, on Bedrich Smetana, a composer I had only vaguely heard of but left appreciating much more. Considering the number of people at the museum, very few seemed to find their way up to the cupola. It's not super well labeled: just take any elevator to the top, great view (though Wenceslas Square will be a construction zone for a while).

The new…read morebuilding features an exhibit on the history of the Czech Republic under Nazi Germany 1938-1945 and Soviet rule from 1948-1989 until the Berlin Wall came down. Great artifacts including propaganda, model apartment. Clothes and various leaders during that time. Very interesting and a great place to spend a few hours on a hot and humid or rainy day.
