S. Academy is my go-to store for 10 yrs now. 2 weeks ago I shopped, tried on clothes, no issue. Today, Saturday April 11th, 2026, and employee refused to let go of the 1 item I wanted to try, then refused to open fitting rooms until I gave her my Driver's Licence. Store policy, she said. I told her A supervisor open the fitting rooms last time with no request about the DL. Employee said she should have followed the rules. Security guard was nearby, I asked him about DL in exchange for fitting room access. He said he never heard of it. Employee walked away once I spoke to Security and finally let go of my 1 item. I walked to fitting rooms and asked the 4 women who were there if they had given their DL in exchange for access. All 4 said no. Don't be brown and try to shop at Arc on S. Academy. I know I won't anymore. I had seen the employee before, I had chatted with her. She seemed normal in previous interactions. I'm 60, she looks close to my age. Just shame on her for her lies. I've visited this ARC location 3 times in the past year, and as an avid thrifter, it has alot going for it. The book section was very well maintained, which is nice as some locations can be overcrowded and hard to search through. I collect vintage and unique cookbooks and was able to find some real gems here! The clothing selection was not the best of the ARC locations in Colorado Springs, but decent overall and the prices were reasonable. Not as much furniture as some other locations at the time of my visit, but with a thrift store that always varies so I would still recommend that, you never know when they'll get something new in! Absolute beauty of a place, just look at the fun from my pictures. They have a bunch of cool stuff there and I love this place so much. I believe if they made a thing that I would be the customer of the year, I come here almost every Saturday for the 50% off deal. They support the community a lot in a positive way and they give a lot of the nearby homeless people things WHEN THEY ASK. They price the items too high, most popular name brand clothing are priced as if they were in the store itself. Good luck getting a good item under $20. It's quite weird when they get it for free and they make the prices. I reccomend different arcs this one is quite expensive. read more

the workers are kinda snobby and lack basic empathy skills. the prices are way too high! three outfits cost $40 they get all the stuff they sell for free! its disgusting to resale free stuff for the retail store price. whoever is pricing the items has no soul. they should be ashamed but clearly just greedy. read more

Pretty cool Arc thrift store considering it's pretty run down compared to other Arc stores in CO area but I did find some amazing deals. I came into find some men's long sleeved button up shirts for my husband and totally scored! I found a terracotta light weight shirt from H&M gently used, no smell, unsoiled and not torn for about $6. I also found a women's lightweight linen jacket that looks like a pretty expensive brand for approximately $6-7. I also found some jeans but when I tried them on at home they didn't fit-- so I'm happy that they have a flexible return policy in case things don't fit. I think it's a 10 day exchange for in-store credit on a plastic store card that you can use at your convenience. Although I'm not sure if it expires within a year or so-- so you'd have to ask the store. Overall this ARC store was fun to shop at because they have lots of unique items that I know I wouldn't find elsewhere. It's a 2 thumbs up for this ARC store!!! read more

I dropped off 5 garbage bag of toys to the back dock. The sign said they accept donations at certain hours. Like the person before me, I started putting my bags on the landing. A man came out and grumbled something about it being too early. If was 15 minutes till time to drop off. I dropped the bags off anyway and pulled through. After driving away, I pulled onto the street behind the store and looked over. The man was tossing all my bags and the stuff left behind by another person in the trash. I guess they really showed how much they value donations. read more

Seriously, I am giving Arc Thrift Store 5 stars. Why? Hear me out. For what it is - a store re-selling used home goods and clothes - it is the best I've seen in quite a while. While I've donated at this location I had not yet had a compelling reason to go in...until there was a Halloween werewolf costume to be made and we needed a kid's flannel shirt we could demolish and make look scary. Not going to pay full price for that. So we checked it out. Initial observations - this store is clean! There were multiple intercom pages reminding employees to clean up their sections and organize. The kids' books are pennies on the dollar to bookstores selling new (and really? who cares?). The clothes are organized by gender, size, style and color (I found snow coveralls for the kid for 6 bucks, like new, and that Halloween shirt was bought for $3 in such good condition that I kind of felt bad ripping it up...but a werewolf has got to do what a werewolf has got to do). Some of the furniture and home goods are shoddy, others are not. I would never buy a puzzle or board game from here but baby clothes? This place looked like a gold mine for someone needing them. In other words: if you don't mind the hunt you can get some really fantastic deals. In another life I volunteered at an Arc (not this one) and know that each piece coming in gets inspected and tagged accordingly. Some REALLY nice stuff can get donated. It's a fun way to spend a few hours and we walked away with 'another man's treasures' without breaking the bank. read more

I shop at all the ARC stores in Colorado Springs. This one used to be the "dirty one." They have cleaned up the store and the shelves are a lot more organized than before. The lines tend to be long, but I'm usually here on weekends when the store is busiest. Sometimes the cashiers are grouchy but I suppose I would be to if I worked someplace where a lot of the customers are grouchy too... I will say the return policy is super strict at all the stores. That's the biggest problem I've had at every ARC store. And there has been times when the supervisor can't do math and that can be frustrating when you don't have a calendar and a calculator handy... so if you have a return, take it back sooner than later! read more

The store on Austin Bluffs is VERY GOOD and a great place to shop. The store on Academy...disorganized, dirty, messy. BUT...anytime a store is providing such a great service will get 5 stars from me! Lower prices for goods, reduced need for factory output, repurposing goods rather than putting them in landfills, all great efforts! My husband needed snow pants for work and being that we weren't prepared with our budget to spend $40 on a brand new snow pants we drove to the Arc Thrift store in hopes of finding a nice deal for snow pants. My husband browsed through the men's section and found overalls snow pants that was priced at $9.99. We head to the register and the cashier finds that the price tag was priced wrong on the overalls. She calls the manager without telling us what the problem was. The manager comes to the register and he notices an error with the price tag. It was priced at $9.99 but after observing the item he thought that the item was worth $19.99 instead. I told him we needed the overalls for my husband who needs it for work tonight. He raises the price to $19.99 and I'm not satisfied with that. I refused to pay for their mistakes and then he goes on to say that he will find out which employee marked the price at $9.99 and he will fire them. He takes the clothes and tells me I'm not going to purchase the item unless I pay $19.99 for it. Seriously, TERRIBLE customer service! First of all sir, every item in that store is donated so you didn't pay for that item to charge me $19.99 for YOUR mistake in pricing it wrong! Secondly, your employees are a reflection of your leadership so go ahead and reprimand yourself before you blame your employees for making a MINOR mistake! How dare you threaten someone else's job/livelihood for a price tag mistakenly placed. I'll never return to ANY arc stores thanks to your customer service skills! Rather than satisfying a paying customer you chose to send me out the store unsatisfied and firing an employee that YOU placed on the floor after YOU trained them. read more

First off, this place is HUGE! There is so much to look at and look through- you could spend hours in here! They have a really big selection of clothing, women's shoes (the men's section was severely lacking) and hand bags. Their housewares and miscellaneous sections were quiet another story, however. While it looked like there was a lot of it, most of it looked broken and looked like it had past it's gently used phase 10 years ago. Also, it seemed really dirty which made going through it very unpleasant. Another downside is their furniture selection. Every peice I saw was noticeably damaged and again, far beyond its gently used stage. I would only buy this stuff if you are looking for cheap parts and/or scrap particle board. It looked like they had a really big kids section, but not having kids myself, I did not head back that way to check it out. Also, the prices cannot be beat! My husband and I purchased 2 heavy winter jackets, a pair of snow boots, 2 pairs of snow pants (the overall type), two pairs of ski goggles and 2 hats for a costume party we are attending and we walked out only paying only $30! read more

It is an Ok store. It could use a little organizing. Everything just seems so thrown together. There is a large selection of clothes, books and nick knacks. A lot of the nick knacks are just thrown on the shelves and in poor condition. The furniture is always rough looking and not at all worth what they are charging for it. I do like that the Arc offers 50% off on Saturdays. read more

This ARC is pretty far out of my way so I rarely make it there. When I do it seems fairly picked over. Good book selection usually but I've never found any clothes I like in my size. Employees are nice. read more

Supervisor was rude and unprofessional I don't understand how she became a supervisor without customer service. The cashier was also in a bad mood and no customer service, but hey what can you expect when they have a role model of a supervisor. I'll stick to good will! read more

I've gone to this ARC many times and almost never have a bad experience. I may not always find what I'm looking for but when I do, it's usually an EXCELLENT shopping day for me! I have found lots of big, expensive brand names (Ralph Lauren, Hilfiger, etc) for pennies compared to the prices in department stores AND sometimes they were brand new. This location is a great go-to if you're in between sizes (losing weight or pregnant)and don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes you might not need for long. It is no dirtier or messier than any of the other thrift stores in town either. Love this store! read more

The last three times I have visited this store I have been deeply appauled. This store used to be way more affordable and now it's like going into any regular store to buy clothing. I feel like the mission of this companies purpose has been lost and now when I look at the price tags all I see is greed. For someone who makes minimum wage I can't even buy a decent outfit for less than 15-20. The pants are almost ten dollars along with the majority of the shirts. I would like to let you know that a person who has been in the community for years ARC has now lost me as a customer, I would rather go to Platos Closet. read more
