Full disclosure: I was friendly with a former editor of this newspaper, so I'm biased…read more However, I think this newspaper, which comes out twice a week, does a nice job with local community news, including covering the thriving Middle Eastern subculture in Dearborn. I'm not sure they're still doing it, but the last time I checked, the paper did a special business section in conjunction with the American Arab Chamber of Commerce on a regular basis, for instance. The paper is attractive, with a well-designed front page. And, of course, most importantly, the news is well-written and relevant to the residents of Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.

You can find them around some of the eateries and grocers around Mexicantown - they're always stacked by the door of both Honeybee Market and Café con Leche. Toward the back you'll find horoscopes and crosswords. It's ad-heavy, but what print-based media isn't these days... Worth picking up.

Critical Moment is an awesome publication that usually comes out every other month. It is a social…read morejustice newspaper that is of interest to people in the south-west Detroit area, but deals with global issues. Their content is mostly made up of submissions from contributing readers. They try to focus on underrepresented voices in politics and art. With theme issues like "After Proposal 2", "No One is Illegal", and "Community Gardening" -- they offer a challenging viewpoints and stories that are straight from struggling and rising hearts. I love this magazine, I wish it was published more consistently. They accept donations!
