I scheduled this appointment in April for July with Krystan, her bio says she's a curly hair specialist. I came in with my hair not styled and she told me it had to be styled even though it didn't say anything when I made the appointment, had to reschedule it for the next day, she said she would be cranky and tired but would squeeze me in. I came in the next day, she told me to wait while she made a personal call to schedule her bachelorette party. She would stop cutting my hair to talk And my haircut was absolutely terrible looked nothing like the reference photo I showed and she didn't not cater the cut to my curl type the layers were also uneven, she also had no idea how to style my curl type and when she was finished it came out almost wavy. I requested the curly package but it was basically a regular cut with a treatment she put in my hair that dried my hair out, and the package was almost $200. read more

Veronica was very welcoming and spent time listening to my thoughts, discussing options, explaining her suggestions and we agreed on a plan for updating my color. My stylist Gabby was amazing. I got a balayage and I've definitely paid a whole lot more in the past in cities outside of San Angelo, but this is my favorite session thus far. She blends really well and knows how to work with dark hair. My hair still felt healthy afterwards. Overall, I loved the results. My only complaint is less than half the salon was wearing masks especially right after a large spike in cases in town. read more

Well if you go don't go to Gabby. I hate leaving nasty reviews-like it really takes a lot for me to-but I just have to on this one. This might be the worst hair color I've ever had. I went in with copper hair and my light brown roots grown out and the goal was to blend my roots and turn the color into a caramel brown color (I'll post the pictures of the goal vs the result). I had sent her a picture of my current hair and the goal, as well as described it. Then when I got there she had no idea what I wanted and I kept having to re-explain it. First she tried to color strip my hair which barely did anything to the color, then she decided to "blend" the roots and bleach certain parts at the same time. She messed it up, saying the toner picked up weird when she toned the highlighted parts because of an "uneven base". Then she went in again to fix it by blending out the roots (only because I specifically asked her to, she was fine with leaving it alone and telling me the unevenness would fade after a few washes) and it barely changed. It looked splotchy all throughout the hair. There were still pieces of red showing. My roots were made even darker and the mids/ends looked like when yellow straw sits outside too long and starts to turn greenish brown. I'm not even sure how she got the idea to go blonder when that was nothing like what I asked for. I'm not a complete ass and I understand people have bills to pay so I still paid her, but I really didn't want to. I immediately went to Walmart and bought a box of "Color Oops" color remover and two boxes of hair dye and literally just did it myself and it looks better now than what I paid $100+ for. It's ridiculous that I, with very little experience, did better than her, and even more so that I was there from 1:30-6pm to leave looking the way I did. Absolutely. Insane. read more

I was looking to get my hair colored and cut so I looked into different Salons around town. I came across AR Beauty and saw that they happened to have a stylist named Krystn Torres that cut and styled curly hair. I was very excited and reached out inquiring about an appointment. Unfortunately, she mentioned being booked until August, so I declined. A few days later, Krystn reached out stating she had two last second cancellations and then proceeded to give FIVE different available dates! I should've known then that something was off, but was excited to have my hair done and proceeded to pick a day. I picked a day that was literally two weeks out. From there she informed me about the deposit, which I understand and paid; the appointment was scheduled. Fast forward to the night before my appointment. I receive a text message at almost 11pm on a Friday night that she had a family emergency and had to cancel. Obviously this was unfortunate to hear, so I told her that and politely requested a refund. I was looking forward to this appointment and missed my son's tournament out of town. I never received a text back from her, but left her alone because I didn't want to be rude with her having a "family emergency" and all. I later learn that there was no family emergency, it was her birthday weekend! So now I am livid trying to understand why this stylist would even schedule me if she knew she wanted to enjoy her time! I literally had to show up to AR Beauty Salon and speak to the manager about the issue. To my surprise, Krystn is there cutting another clients hair, meanwhile, she never communicated with me and just simply had my $130 deposit! Had I not shown up to the salon, I guarantee she would have just kept my money! I am grateful for Andrea, the stylist that took the time to listen and be understanding of the situation and HELP me get my money back! A few minutes after leaving, Krystn sent a text apologizing and stating that she sent the money back through another app to a client with the same name as mine! So you're just sending money to folks without confirming?! I didn't believe anything this girl was saying. This was overall a bad experience! read more

I picked AR Beauty Bar because for the ease of making an appointment through Yelp. It exceeded all my expectations. I was greeted at the door and offered beverages. My stylist, Drea, was excellent and very nice and friendly. I learned that all the stylists in the salon were friends and former classmates.
