The water is... refreshing.. many opportunities for great photos... keep in mind that you cannot wear bug spray or sunscreen as it it harmful to the fish in the Cenote. They will ask you to rinse your body prior to entering the Cenote.. bring an underwater camera as the pictures are soooo beautiful underwater.. I recommend bringing snorkel gear because it is a site to see underwater. Enjoy!!

Everything was perfect. We saw dozens of whale sharks (I counted 42 from the bow of the boat), and had an incredible time diving with Nils and Cesar. They took great care of us, and it felt like we were diving with good friends by the end of the week. I also added on my AOW certification for a small fee which was fun and easy to accomplish. It's not often that I want to go back to one place (there are so many places I haven't been on my list!!) but I hope we can return to dive again with Dive Aventuras soon!

I did not appreciate the requirement to wear a life jacket in shallow water to snorkel with the turtles. The amount of people in the snorkeling areas was way too much. People were kicking up sand, flailing in the water and pushing people (me) to get in front of where any turtles were. It was extremely disappointing. The only reasons I got any photos was because I have a GoPro on a stick. I would NOT do the turtle thing again. I would however go scuba diving. That seemed like they took out small groups on small boats so it wouldn't be overcrowded.

(A Cenote, pronounced say-no-tay is akin to an underwater river dive, fresh water vs. salt water) Manuel's instructions and patience with us were exemplary. After never having dived before, I was able to complete the entire tour of the cenote and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Manuel stayed right with me and made sure I was okay for the entire dive. Milan was the only good part of this experience and should be commended for his work and…read moreprofessionalism. He did the best he could to make our dive enjoyable. The equipment here is in terrible condition, they rent tanks, rather than servicing and supplying their own, and I had to go through 3 tanks on my first dive to find one that sealed. They do not provide a save-a-dive kit aboard the boat, nor do they even carry simple o-rings to replace the ones on the tanks, despite it being obvious that this is a regular issue. While I had my own wetsuit, no one else in the dive group did, and the ones they provided all had large holes on the shoulders and legs. They did not have enough fins, and tried to give a brand new diver a set of fins that would have surely fallen off the minute he got into the water. I was told that there were *just* enough weights, something that they should have in plentiful supply, but the instructor had to give me two from his own BCD so that I had enough. Worst of all, the pressure gauges did not read correctly, and the incorrect information displayed on the gauge caused me to completely run out of air at depth without warning. Another couple in the group had to share air, on the way to the decompression stop, again because of a false reading on his gauge. The boat captain and crewman did the bare minimum to assist, and seemed bothered by any request to hand items down to you. I have used 2 other dive shops that have show professionalism and customer service that put this location to shame. I will never use any of the ProDive shops based on my experience this trip. Follow up: A representative from Pro Dive reached out to me and said they are working to get new equipment for this location. I also received a full refund for both my dives.

When we got there the manager, Coliman, interrupted the girl at the front to tell us that the instructor (who was standing next to us) would not review the material with us all at once that we needed to go off and return when we had answered all the questions. Next, wreck diving was the only reason I chose this dive shop to the Advanced Open Water class. I informed the liason when I made the reservation this. She knew the days I was going to be there. When we got there, it was posted that wreck diving was only on Wednesdays. We arrived on Thursday. The only good part of the class was the instructor Sergio. He was relaxed and helpful. My BCD and equipment had issues but he was trying really hard to help me. I wanted to try to still my own Regulator with their BCD but the manager Coliman said it was a "policy" they could not put my equipment on theirs. I had to pay for their rental. Their equipment was frayed, and regulator dragged. This manager , Coliman, made this vacation dive much harder than it had to be. I was not allowed to take my camera on the dives since it was a class and I missed being able to take pictures of the sea turtles and octopus. We elected to go the Cenotes (fun dive to them) and we had a tech diver instructor, Kim, who was very good, I liked her a lot. She was frank and I liked that about her instructing style. I learned a lot from her. I had to make up a dive since my equipment failed and pay for it. I will not go through this dive shop in the future.

He was very responsive to my many emails and provided for us a great experience and hooked us up with one of the best dive masters I've had the pleasure of diving with, Mauro! Four of us dove and on the OW dive, I was recovering from a night of "revenge", and couldn't make it to the 2nd tank. One of my crewmates was new to diving and Mauro was so extremely patient, helping her with her bouyancy and breathing. In the ocean, there wasn't much to see other than some really cool turtles, sad really. But the Dos Ojos dive was as Aramis promised, amazing! I wasn't planning on doing the caverns but I'm so glad we did. If you're serious about ocean diving and seeing marine life, head to Cozumel. Much more to see there. Ask for Mauro :)

On the third day, we explored the beautiful reefs of Cozumel. The entire Blue Life team was professional, friendly, and welcoming. The numerous times that I was at Playa del Carmen, I was diving with Tank-Ha. I am truly pleased to see that they are in business still and from the ratings, are obviously doing a great job. When I was diving, I went to several cenote dives with them and a videographer named Steve from California. He was employed with Tank ha, or at least served their clientele on an exclusive basis. He and I got to be very good friends. I don't know if he is still there, or if he is still even in Mexico, he was about my age. Happened to recently find some of the old VHS tapes that I got when I went diving with Steve through Tank ha. After a dive day, he would take a few of us to his house, serve us beer and popcorn, and show us that days diving videos which we obviously purchased. When I ran across these the other day, they brought back some really great memories and I cannot imagine that the dive shop has done anything but improve. They were the greatest then and I'm sure they're even better now.

This was my first time with boat entry, open water warm dives, and I had the best time! The entire experience was great. Service: As this was part of a solo travel for me, I was in communication with the dive shop via WhatsApp to make sure that I was fully prepared. I felt very comfortable the entire time, and everything was explained clearly. All materials and great were prepped and ready for me upon arrival, and all staff members that I was interacting with were kind and welcoming. Experience: We did two dives, and had some discussion on the boat as to what we most wanted to see, to help determine the locations that we would travel to. We settled on Palancar Bricks for the first dive, and La Francesa for the second. There were 7 divers with 3 dive masters, so despite being a solo traveler, I felt like I had a ton of support. The overview of the dive sites before entry was great, because it primed me for some of the aquatic life that we would see. As my first warm water and coral reef dive, I can say that scuba diving is one of the great privileges of my life--I was overcome with emotion at seeing so much! Schools of small (young) fishes, corals, large organisms, sponges, nurse sharks, barracuda, a seahorse, a cozumel toad fish, giant parrot fish, and so many more! I have dove 3x before (all over 9 years ago) and finally wanted my certificate. We decided on a…read morePADI certificate and found Aquanauts near where we stayed at Barcelo tropical. My instructor Monica was EXCEPTIONAL, out of this world amazing. My parents did a recertification and my dad (30 dives) and I are more comfortable in the water, while my mom (12 dives) is not so much. Monica was able to give us the individualized attention we needed to build on our strengths and weaknesses. My skill level went from using my air the quickest, to at the end of my certification 62 minutes (60ft max) and 74 minutes (45ft max). This was such an improvement on my relaxation, and I am really proud of. Monica was able to help me understand my buoyancy, and really really helped my mom too, no one has ever given us the time and attention like Monica did. My confidence in scuba diving skyrocketed with my certification by Monica, and so did my moms. I had so much fun doing my course, I had to sign up for another day of diving with Monica's daughter Z. And that was FUN, no more training and I got to pet a nurse shark (on my bucket list!!)! I can not recommend Monica or Aquanauts more. I will remember my time with her and my parents forever.
