The manager at Aqua Flor was absolutely amazing. His name escapes me at the moment. I did encounter young lady name Francesca incredibly rude, not Italian whatsoever. She was not only rude to me she was rude in general and had no remorse about it. She seemed to be too busy speaking to her coworker and not very helpful or interested to help us in learning more about Aqua Flor. I did mention this to her manager, who was lovely and helped us finish our purchase. I honestly would have purchased so much more if she would have even tried to help us, but she seemed to not really want to deal with anybody since she wouldn't help anybody whatsoever. Thankfully we were in there a few days earlier and knew exactly what we needed. Unfortunately, I will not walk into this boutique. I have lived in Florence for many years and I have never encountered such a rude person. Especially in a fine boutique perfumery... every year traveling to Europe I definitely bring home plenty of perfume. Unfortunately she made this experience unpleasant. It's too bad because it's a lovely boutique too lovely for a rude immature, unprofessional sales person like Francesca. You can't miss her - tall, dark haired young thin woman, speaks like an American she is incredibly quick to judge and be disrespectful. Do yourself a favor Aqua Flor find yourself a better sales person for your lovely boutique that deserves better! I would give one star only, but since the manager was so amazing and so kind, I didn't want to do that to him, but really she does kill the experience in this particular perfumery that is legendary in Firenze. read more

Ok yeah fragrances and flowery soaps isn't my thing at all. LOL. But members of my party wanted to visit and as an indifferent bystander perusing the merch, and the truly beautiful store to be honest, one of the super friendly sales people, Alberto took notice and we had some friendly conversation. Alberto didn't care that I wasn't the target customer, but he was very knowledgeable and took some time to educate me on some fragrances that were pretty interesting. He really couldn't have been more friendly, even after we said we weren't going to buy anything right away, we had a scheduled time to scale the bell tower and had to run. But his good nature was one reason we did return and make a purchase. :-) I like returning kindness with kindness. Kinda like when I return the favor for Yelp likes! Hehe. *wink, wink* Anyway, if you are into fragrances and flowery soap, I'd say visit this truly beautiful Aqua Flor store (The scent from the store permeates the air before you even walk in) and seek out my buddy Alberto. I was in Florence in February and visited AquaFlor. I would like to state that this is a magnificent very unique place for niche perfumes, home fragrances, home decors, candles, and sops. The staff is caring, professional and very helpful. Elanor heled me choose my home fragrance. I have booked a perfume Experience where they can create my own signature perfume that no one will have. Zisis Kapsalis, was the fragrance specialist and together with his expertise we created the perfume. Zisis, told me to open the perfume in 30 days. Imagine the anticipation! I have opened the perfume yesterday and must say that I love the perfume. It lasts about 6 hours, smell opens up with leather, pink pepper, but 20 to 30 minutes later it changes the smell to fresh, floral mixed with ambergris, white musk, it is very mysterious smell. As I wear it I love it more and more. No complements yet from others, but I think during summer time the smell will be a little different, and how it will develop on my skin. When the weather is cold I smell the leather, but when body worms up I smell the floral and fresh notes blossom on my skin. When I wear this it makes me feel, unique and assertive, yet feminine. Very unique scents. If you can, I highly recommend spreading your experience here out over a few days. They have so many scents that you really want to smell them all and then see how they develop throughout the day. You will get nose fatigue quickly and they'll all start smelling the same. I narrowed my choice down to 2 that first caught my attention Tizgana and Jalousie - both 30ml. I do wish I had gotten the 100ml as they are impossible to find and the shipping is 90€ to the US! I will probably end up going back before needing to pay that shipping! I also purchased two sets of their soap medallions. No regrets! Over all great experience. This place is more than just a place to buy perfume but a place where you engage all of your senses and experience a true olfactory dream. This makes into my short list of hidden gems of Florence with 5 star rating along with a couple other (see my review for Lo Spillo and Pelletteria Artigiana Viviani.) While it is located close to the beautiful square and magnificent church in Santa Croce that draws many tourists, the location of the shop is truly off the beaten path. It's rather understated from the outside but hard to miss as you will smell the gorgeous scent from the end of the street. The inside of the space is just marvellous. Dimly lit, plush carpets, leather arm chairs, wooden walls stacked with glass bottles...it evokes an image of a romantic, ancient alchemy laboratory. If you are a perfume aficionado like me, then you probably are already familiar with Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. While I am still a fan of Officina Profumo di SMN, it is now easy to find their products in the States and due to its spotlight, has lost its "hidden secret-ness." Not a bad thing at all, but just saying, no longer a place if you want to get a special scent that not many people have discovered yet. Another perfumerie closest to AquaFlor in terms of exclusivness and ambience, even smaller, would be Odeur De Sainteté in Paris which I adoringly refer as "the French perfume witch's atelier." The gentleman staff who helped me (I regret not asking his name!) asked me what scents I am looking for/like, and picked out several and patiently let me smell everything. After several, we narrowed down to 3 which he sprayed on my wrists and hand and again narrowed down to 2, which I ended up purchasing. The price is not cheap, but what you get is something unique. They only have 3 shops in the world, Firenze, Madrid, and Dubai, with its fourth shop opening soon in Prague. I never encountered any store carrying Aquaflor perfume in NYC. In the end, I walked out of the store with a 100 ml and 30ml bottles of two different scents that I picked out for 230 euros. Again, the price tag is rather steep but now I have a beautiful souvenir from Firenze which will last me for some time. If you purchase as a set, there is a small discount and with tax-refund, the purchase makes it worthwhile. Along with all the major attractions in Firenze (David, Duomo, etc. etc.) this shop deserves a visit and a good amount of time to indulge in the world of unique scents. read more

GORGEOUS fragrance and soap shop in Firenze!! Absolutely, absolutely a hidden gem.... so very glad that they had a lotion tester outside on the small walkway; that's what lured us (me) in. The scent of the lotion tester was a "Tomato Leaf" - - wow! It was amazing... So naturally I had to purchase a small hand lotion of the same scent for myself, and... i found some small little soaps as well. The lotion was 9EUR and the small soaps were 3 for 5EUR -- so i selected the Tomato Leaf, Lavande, and Rose. The store associate was extremely friendly and courteous, and spoke a bit of English. And as others have noted, she delicately wrapped my purchases up. It made my purchase feel that much more special. If you are looking for a special gift (for yourself or anyone, really) - -I would highly recommend this store. read more

I've never been so crazy over scents until I stepped inside Aqua Flor Firenze. This elusive place has to be sought after and it's totally worth it. They have a wide array to choose from but the staff are very devoted to the clients that they take time showing you around and discovering the scent that best suits your taste. They never rush you or feel pressure to buy the product. I felt a unique and personalized experience after stepping out from the store. Every time I use the perfume it brings me back to good memories in Florence, Italy! It's hard to say what are their best seller because it totally depends on ones taste... from floral, elegant, musk, citrus... Three full rooms filled with exclusive perfumes, hydrating scented water, candles, bamboo room scent diffusers, and body care products. If you appreciate hand crafted perfumes made with passion and love you will love Aqua Flor. They have perfumes with ingredients I had never heard of and would never imagine combining. The results are clearly magical. If you want a truly special and unforgettable experience you can make an appointment to meet the master behind the magic, Sileno Cheloni. He will meet you and create your own personal perfume. I was blessed to meet with Sileno and see his love, passion, instinct for his craft come alive. An experience I will never forget. I absolutely LOVE my perfume as it truly reflects me as a person. I feel happy whenever I wear it, which was the goal! I found this gem on my recent trip to Florence. The experience was one of the highlights of my trip! The shop was gorgeous....warm and inviting. I received an informative tour, including descriptions of the how the perfumes are made and how the differ from store bought brands. It was intoxicating! The proprietress was incredibly kind and friendly. She patiently described the ingredients of several fragrances, based on my likes and suggested that I try my favorite and walk around the piazza. Let it speak to you...is what she said. It did! I was giddy with delight as I walked around Santa Croce and Casa Buonarotti. Each time I caught a whiff of the scent (Derwish), it made me happy. Even though I had not planned on splurging, I couldn't leave Florence without this delicious fragrance! So back I went. She packaged the bottle with such care and presented it to me like a beautiful gift...which it was...to myself! I have worn it every day since and the effect is still the same. Wonderful shop with beautiful products. Picked up some gifts and also some tomato scented hand lotion for myself. If I had known in advance I would have made a appointment and had a personalized perfume made. It takes some time and requires and appointment but seems like it would have been a great keepsake from our trip to Florence. This is a wonderland of fragrance. Every creation is something lovely and personal. This perfumery is huge however you'd never know it from the modest entrance. With each turn you feel you've stepped back into the history of scent. The lotions, soaps and bottles of perfume are lovely to look at and a pleasure to the nose. I got a lesson on fragrance layering and notes. It was both educational and entertaining. It helped that my Aqua Flor sales associate spoke perfect English. Thanks Caitlin Swanson. I purchased several gifts at various price points. This store also does an impressive job of wrapping the gifts with scented paper and wrapped each boxes with tissue. Aqua Flo-r-R-R . . I roll my R when I say flor , I just think it sounds fancy that way . . . Have you ever encountered a really nice dressed, manicured person, and when they walk by they smell INCREDIBLY good and you wonder 'wow, where do they do their perfume shopping?' two words: Aqua Flo-r-R-R !! I decided to step in this store when passing by this evening, it looked so cool inside, like a magic laboratory of secret potions. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the hanging light fixture surrounded by a shade in the shape of a giant hoop skirt. To your immediate right, there is a table of nicely wrapped soaps and bath salts of different sents/infusions. On the wall next to this table, is where you will find the body lotions. The rest of the store is dedicated to the liquid essences. They have scented water, scented oil, perfume and oil for diffusion sticks (you know those sticks that soak up oil and make the room smell nice) . In the center of the store (under the hoop skirt) you will find a VERY comfy looking set of lounge chairs. On the wall opposite facing the soap table, is a bar cluttered with old school laboratory measuring equipment and opened bottles of who knows what. Looks cool. So I gave this store four stares, I am a fan. But I must confess I did not purchase anything in this store and I am not sure I will be able to purchase anything in this store in the near future . . . this fancy water store has some fancy prices. I am talking about €90-120 a bottle fancy (for perfume). The scented water is €45 and soaps and salts are around €25. I'm not fancy enough yet. I'm only fancy enough to exit the store with lots of little sent sample strips stuffed into my purse . . . but one day I shall have a fancy water of my very own from Aqua Flo-r-R-R, I shall damn it ! Until then you can find me under the hoop skirt sipping tea and dreaming . . . (oh yeah, forgot to mention, they serve hot tea on Fridays at 5:00pm ) *** Aqua Flo-r-R-R. . Subito a destra, c'è un tavolo di saponi ben confezionati e sali da bagno con all'interno fragranze diverse. Sulla parete accanto a questo tavolo, è dove si trovano le lozioni per il corpo. Il resto del negozio è dedicato alle essenze liquide. Hanno l'acqua profumata, l'olio profumato, profumo e olio per bastoni diffusione (sai quei bastoni che assorbono l'olio e fare il profumo bello nella camera). Al centro del negozio (sotto la gonna cerchio) troverete un paio di sedie confortevoli. Sulla parete opposta di fronte al tavolo del sapone, c'è un bancone che sembra aparecchiato per esperimenti di alchimia di vecchie scuola e di bottiglie aperte di chissà cosa. Sembra molto cool. Così ho dato questo negozio quattro stelle e si, sono un fan. Ma devo confessare che non ho acquistato nulla in questo negozio e non sono sicura che saro' in grado di acquistare qualsiasi cosa in questo negozio a breve. . . questo negozio di "acqua elegante" ha alcuni prezzi di altrettanto elegante. Sto parlando di €90-120 per una bottiglia di profumo. L'acqua profumata è di € 45 e saponi e sali sono circa € 25. Non ho ancora abbastanza eleganza . Sto solo elegante sufficiente per uscire dal negozio con un sacco di piccole strisce di campione inqui ho riempito la mia borsa. . . ma un giorno avrò una bottiglia di "acqua elegante" tutto per me di Aqua Flo-RRR, porca miseria! I walked in on a warm summer day before lunch. I collect perfume and wanted some from Florence. The young lady was patient and listened attentively to my scent preferences then helped pick one out that I love! It has a carrot and rose undertone.
