It started with a lovely phone call for us to get to know each other and for Liz to get to know what our goal was for the photos. In our case the studio session was the right call. Our little one had some minor issues that left our hospital discharge date in limbo but Liz was so kind and accommodating in working with us to find the best day. It was a relief because it allowed my husband to join and worked around his crazy schedule. The studio is warm and welcoming. Liz is such an easy and gentle person and it was such a pleasure to chat with her during the session. Being a nurse and having little ones herself made me feel extra safe handing over my two week old for a couple of hours. She was really receptive to our wants for the photos. They turned out absolutely adorable! I squealed when I got the final images. We got some family shots, some cutesy shots, and some detail shots as well. First, Kimberly's photos are really beautiful. She has a great eye for her subject and the surrounding area. I don't usually consider myself a very photogenic person but in Kimberly's photos I feel really pleased with how I look. She is able to account for the weather and incorporate the environment. Overall the finished product that we received was just what we'd wanted and as soon as I find time between chasing a toddler and nursing an infant I plan to get a number of them printed and hung in my home. Second, she's really easy to work with. Kimberly was flexible when we had to decide on plans at the last minute due to the nature of our situation. She was really communicative and made sure she understood the types of photos and the "feel" of the photo collection we were looking for (eg, I really wanted the "story" of my birth chronicled and she did just that, including a beautiful photo montage that I could share with friends and family). I felt very at ease with her and appreciated her professionalism and knowledge. Third, she works really hard and is constantly pushing herself to improve. Ours was one of the first births she'd shot so she went out of her way to research birth photography, find a few births to shoot in advance, and check in with us about what was important to us based on what she learned. I went to James for help with getting a 54 year old photo, that has seen better days and survived two floods, restored an enhanced and bring new life to it. He looked at the photo and explained that due to its extensive damage, it might not come out as I expect. He then went step by step through what he would do as far as brightening it up and putting it through filters. Most of the faces in the photo were only half legible, so I didn't give my hopes up. When I tell you this man performed a miracle, believe me when I say that I teared up when I saw it. My grandmother, who passed away when my mother was only 11 years old, was given new breath and looked absolutely stunning and I could finally see what my family always talked about her being a natural beauty. My grandfather, who passed a few years ago, looked so young and lively and my mom and uncle were legible and I could see their young faces smiling. I didn't expect a whole lot as far as the photo restoration and enhancement, but James exceeded all expectations, including his own. His fee was very reasonable and he gave me an extra print of the photo. If anyone needs professional photos done or photo enhancement, James Ferry is the man for you. I'm still in awe of how amazing this photo turned out and I can't thank him enough. Not only did his work prove to be impeccable, but he's also a naturally friendly guy and a pleasure to talk with. If you're on the fence about choosing him, I hope this review settles your reservations. He is worth every penny and worth the wait time for the photos (which still wasn't long.
