So this all just seems very suspicious, but most likely he had a racist assumption about me. He turned my business away before I even asked about more details. But he did me a HUGE favor and I'm actually really grateful for that! BEST thing he ever did for me. For that, I thank this prejudiced person who showed me who he really was. We worked with Thom. He's great. He moved around some of his appointments in order to meet my husband and I the day before our wedding - just so he could meet us and get a sense of our style. He has a lot of experience shooting weddings and really knows how to control a group - in a great way. He is not uncomfortable climbing ladders and getting on the ground to get the perfect shot. My fiancé contacted her to set up a surprise photoshoot and capture our proposal. He found her through Google and saw some photos of past shoots that were captivating and beautiful. She was very communicative throughout the booking process and gave great recommendations for picturesque spots in Stowe, VT as well as things to do/places to eat as we are not VT natives. They set up a plan for where he would get down on one knee and when she should pop out to take the photos. When he proposed and I said yes, it was the happiest I had ever been, and the photos she captured absolutely showed that! She seemed to make use glow and look so warm and happy, even though it was snowing!! She was an absolutely trooper, taking multiple photos while it snowed and the wind howled. She made us feel so comfortable and let us even have a moment to ourselves to take the moment in and hold each other (which she also captured!) At the end of the shoot she even checked to see if there were any photos we wanted to grab before saying our goodbyes, so if you have any pose in mind, she would definitely capture it! She told us it might be a few weeks before we saw any pictures but the next day she was able to give us a sneak peek at a couple and we were blown away! We had a great selection of images and a variety of options to choose from. I felt like I was in the moment all over again. The element of having to use a tablet to verify if your guess is correct was new to us. But after a few tries, we got the hang of it and understood its purpose. This was a challenging one as we were so close to escaping. The game master was helpful along the way, giving us clues when he saw we were stuck. The Vergennes Town Square and the gazebo therein are a fun spot for a small wedding. The park is…read morewell landscaped with trees and flowering plants as well as brick walks. There are benches in front of the gazebo (which is often used for small concerts in the summer) for guests to sit on. The square is surrounded by lots of cute boutiquey restaurants-- so a small wedding in the park followed by dinner in a restaurant (like Cristophe's on the Green) would be easy and fun. The one big drawback (especially if you're a local) is that you're right on 4 main streets and in a public space. The wedding I shot there involved people driving by honking and yelling (congratulations or don't do it, run!) as well as ceremony crashers.

I want to preface this by pointing out that I am not at all- in any way, shape, or form (see what I…read moredid there)-artistic! And you know what, I am fine with that. So, when the opportunity arose to test out "A Taste of Art" I jumped at it. I wanted to see just how far I could push my lack of talent and see what results would be gathered from the experience. I attended a Paint and Sip evening at Butch + Babe's restaurant in Burlington. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was the intimate size of the space and that there were a few too-many-tables-to-count set up in the far right side of the restaurant for the paint event. Aside from that, I also observed a confident presence. Standing at the head of the table was a warm, eager looking lady whom I later came to learn was Sue herself! Sue had already taken the time to set up each one of our canvases, paint dollops, brushes, water, and even aprons! Though the space was a bit tight, I really felt that we had adequate room to maneuver our inner artists! Sue began the sessions by telling us a tiny bit about herself and her business. She then showed us the painting we would use as a guide and gently began to introduce us into the world of painting. I found Sue to be quite instructional and pleasant. Though she was at the very front of the space, she took the time to really engage with all of us on an individual basis. She did her best to accommodate our random artistic whims and really worked with individuals to guide them in adding character to their paintings. Sue is real, relate able, and has a calm, soothing way about her. She is very passionate about what she does and she wants to share it with the world. So go on, go hang out with Sue; bring out the artist within!

At both events Sue walked us all thru a painting (the sunflowers and the snowman if you review the photos - note - those aren't my photos!) With the exception of the art credit I need for my electives, I tend to be more a spreadsheet kinda girl verses creative.... Sue can make anyone an artist! Trust me a little wine helps with any nerves you might have too! Both results were fantastic and I have them hanging proudly on my wall.
