My boyfriend and I requested a different booth (of which there were many) because there were multiple families with crying babies surrounding us (which we didn't mention) and the waitress seemed very uncomfortable and confused by our request.. she said she would be right back and proceeded to talk to a bunch of other employees while glancing back at us with a scornful look. Eventually a different employee took us to our booth. We didn't feel like our request for a different booth was strange or off-putting, but the young team of Applebees representatives seemed to think otherwise. read more

We came here for a nice family dinner and it was overall good. It was four of us, and it was a nice service that wasn't too packed or too noisy. I had the three cheese chicken Cavatappi and it was very good 4/5. Then the sirloin was an overall 2/5, the sirloin didn't have any flavor and was mostly burnt, the broccoli had no flavor, and the potatoes did have flavor, maybe the best item out of that dish. Then we had the hamburger, 3/5, it was ordered medium and got it as rare, the chips were good, they were plain and were not salted enough. Finally we had the salsa beef nachos, 3/5, the chips were chewy, the raw jalapeños did not do anything to the flavor they needed to be cooked. Our appetizer we had was the spinach and artichoke dip, 4/5, they didn't drain the spinach out very well so it was runny, the chips needed to be cooked better and longer because they were very chewy, they also needed to be salted. Eh, it's Applebees in merced. It is what it is, a cheapish place to get American style food. It was great to stop at on our way home to the bay area but I don't think we will drive this far out of the way again. Whether I am picking up a doordash delivery, picking up carside, or eating in here, I seem to always spend an extra half an hour or longer here than I need to. The service is incredibly slow, and is not helped by the fact that most times the food comes out lukewarm and mediocre. The worst part is no time of day seems to remedy this issue, as it has happened to me night and day, both at peak hours and slow hours. The staff seems to generally be unprofessional and unprepared. My family and I came to this Applebee's for the first time today an dined outside. After being seated at 6 seat table (there were 7 of us) we sat for about 10mins and watched our server greet and help other tables. When she finally got to us there was no greeting she looked at us and said "what do you want to drink" with the worse attitude I've ever encountered. I won't go all the way into full details about her terrible service but let's just say if I were to ever get her again I'd definitely leave. JESSICA did not pick up any of our dishes once we were finished or anything we were already crammed at that table as is. I would've given this review a 1 star had it not been for SHARDAE stepping in and being absolutely amazing. She wasn't our server but she took great care of us and met all of our needs. Worst service and food ever at Applebee's. Waited one hour for food. Food came out cold and burnt. Bun was pitch black on the inside. My pasta was cold and dry. The cheese looked like it's been sitting there for the whole hour. Waiter informed me that it has been sitting there for a long time. Asked for manager. He asked if I wanted my food to be MICROWAVED or replaced. I asked for replaced food. Was told food will be on the house. Food came out once again tasting like absolute shit. Hamburger bun was soaked in oil. Fries came out cold and floppy. Pasta was cold on the outside. Asked for a to-go box. Waited another twenty minutes before I even got the to-go box. Asked for desert that was supposed to be on the house. Waited another 20 minutes. Decided to walk out because desert didn't come and manager said he would replace food. Waiter chased after us when we were in the car. Ordered us to pay for the single drink we had. Waiter said the brownie came out and is on the table (after we already walked out). Asked for manager again. Took another five minutes. Manager finally talked to us and basically said he can't do anything else. I told him that everything was absolutely shit and nothing is truly being compensated. It's two hours now that we have been at Applebee's. Manager Edgar talks about how serious his job is. He tells us that he has kids and he has a family. I told him to stop beating around the fucking bush because I've been there for two hours and don't have time to wait anymore. He says ok. Leaves for another few minutes. Comes out with $20 gift coupon. And we can finally now leave. After two hours, I am basically told that my time is worth $20 and disgusting trash. Store was not at all busy. Everyone was helped except us. Most prominent case of discrimination in Merced that has happened to me and my guest. Thank you, Merced Applebee's. Crapplebee's sucks. My boy and I went to go eat here around 8 PM. We were seated and the waitress had ask for us what drinks and we replied water. We waited 20 minutes for our waters to arrive yet it was a DIFFERENT WAITRESS this time! She took our order 30 minutes later once our waters have arrived. Then another 20 minutes passed just for our APPETIZERS. My mozzerella sticks were cold af and I almost choked on the cheese! Came here for happy hour after a round at the driving range. We got there a little before 9pm, but got a table and waited for happy hour to start. The waitress was understanding and let us hang out until we could officially order off the happy hour menu. Like every other Applebee's (as I have learned), all happy hours menus consist of 50% off appetizers, drafts, wells, and select cocktails/margaritas at about $3-4 each. I went to Applebee's last Friday with a girlfriend & I had the spicy shrimp pasta w/ a Margarita, my friend had the steak w/ shrimp & potatoes w/ veggies & we shared the boneless wings. (not a really big fan of the wings) However my food was excellent! It was hot, spicy & the bread that came with it was warm & soft. My friend really enjoyed her food as well... The service was great, our waiter was very attentive & so was everyone else that came to our table to help... My friend & I had a great night!!! Ive been coming to this Applebees for the last 8 yesrs. The food seems to be getting better. The steak dinner I had was flavorful, tender, as well as juicy. I was surprised it was this good. They do have good choices amd alcoholic beverages. I love the happy hour one half priced apps. Love the wonton tacos. They have little kick. The place is often crowded and takes a long wait. This month is the $1 Vampire cocktail. At this location, it was a festive purple color with a spooky themed gummy. Then we waited and waited again. When she came we just asked her to zap the food. She said she had to tell her manager and took off... without the food. We waited more. I hate this place... Absolutely hate this place. Merced needs more hybrid bars/restaurants to compete with this place. I remember going here last Friday, and we were seated promptly. However, they took 40 freaking minutes to serve us. They claimed that it was software issue, but when they served us, they used a simple notebook, which angered me a bit. I ordered an AMF (look it up if you want to know what it is), and some onion rings. The drink was fine... too sweet, but the onion rings were alright also. Nothing special, but definitely not worth the price. We need a Buffalo Wild Wings or a BJ's here to run Applebees to the ground. read more
