Walter was our server. His customer service skills are nil. For your own sake, avoid this waiter at all costs. Upon being seated, we were given our drinks and some time to order. Never were we offered an appetizer or refills. When the food was actually served, Walter failed to ask if there was anything else we might need. More than three times Walter passed our party's table, without any acknowledgement as to whether we were enjoying our food or needed any refills. He did however find time to ask each of the tables around us, if they were doing fine or needed anything more. This is not a courtesy. In the restaurant industry, this is standard. Walter failed. Much to our dismay, he was not the only incompetent individual representing the Applebee's brand. The two women greeting incoming patrons and handing servers the Applebee's menus were far more engrossed in their own personal conversations than any concern for our dining experience. As Walter never took the initiative, we saw fit to ask these two females for to-go boxes and our ticket. Apparently Walter is the only person who knew where these boxes were because 3 minutes later, he finally showed up beside our table and implying an affectation of hospitality, asked if we would like to order dessert and rolled his eyes. Needless to say, we declined, paid for our dinner and left. I'm not sure if customer service is an attribute Applebee's conscientiously seeks to instill in its employees-this location in particular. I won't bother to address the leniency of this location's dress code violation of wearing a leather jacket instead of the mandated white button up dress shirt. None the less, I'll be sure to inform all my friends and relatives who are soon to be former patrons as well. It is a shame that I now have no choice but to drive miles out of my way to receive the service and quality experience to which I was once accustomed at the Woodrow Bean/ Transmountain location. If you are indeed stuck choosing this location, opt for calling about 5-10 minutes before arrival, submit an order over the phone and park immediately in the Carside (designated) parking spots. UPDATE 2/2014: From sometime in 2012 to about the end of 2013, I have been ditching Applebee's in northeast El Paso for the nearby Chili's, a much better - and comparable choice! Recently, we visited here twice and had an excellent newer server named Mariel. We recommend her - or Estefania, who was not there on our last two visits. We had a nice visit. The only thing is, in two-three years, Applebee's has lost it's consistency on the appetizers we ordered. We went here for lunch on a Wednesday around 1130. The service and food came out fast, the service was great and checked in on us. Last night our family went to Applebee's for dinner. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the floor was. It looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. After we were seated we noticed that several tables had not been cleaned off. After we were seated it took quite a while to get waited on. Our server was taking care of at least 10 tables. Once we were waited on our drunks took awhile. We ordered and they finally brought our soup. It was cold. We complained to the manager. They took it back and brought us new soup which was hot. Then our order came. My son ordered a streak cooked medium. It was cooked extremely well done and dry, like leather. Th8ey corrected it and took it off our bill. They also gave us $15 off. The food hat they did get right was nothing to write home about. I know they are desperate for help but come on. Bottom line, we won't be going to Applebee's any time soon. read more

3 plates were really dirty and has crusty food all over them , ordered food and one plate never came and ribs were extremely burnt ,it was hard to eat them not to mention the place was freezing cold everyone around us was comparing about the temperature too . Completely unsatisfied unfortunately. I arrived after my guests had already been sat, I wasn't asked if I wanted anything to drink, we had to order through someone else walking by. Our server didn't come to check on us after our food was delivered. We constantly had to wave people down for service, however that was difficult since everyone was far to busy ordering candy from a lady causing complete distraction, and chatting at their server station, the manager included. The only time our server came by the table was after she noticed we were paying, and quickly asked us to write a review, 'it would really help me' she stated. Stopped at Applebee's Grill for lunch with my daughter, sister and my little grandson; upon entering we were greeted and seated quickly and that was the end of service. After waiting 15 mins for someone to take our order I flagged down an employee and asked where was our server? He answered with a mouth full of food as he answered I can take your drink order if you like, I was discussed being answered by someone who's mouth was full of food. I then asked to speak to the manager waited another 10mins we had decided this was not going to be a place to eat lunch. The dinning area looked as if no one cleaned it since they opened for business this morning, very messy and in need of some one to clean up. The manager never showed or acknowledged my request to speak to him. Not sure of his name Aiyad but this happened today, 7/13/2018 @ 1:30. Good evening Alex, I just wanted to chime you in on the experience that my party of 7 suffered through at the transmountain Applebee's tonight. We sat down and everything seemed to be going ok; our server Steven K got our drink order fairly quickly and brought out our drinks. He had two other tables, and being in the service industry I understood the bit of a delay. After bringing out the drinks, he took more than 14 minutes to come take our order. At this point we told him we would be separating checks. One person at the table had a special request. It was a fairly simple and straightforward order. 26 minutes later our food came out to a table littered with empty drinks. Refills were offered at this point. Being hungry we got straight to eating. Unfortunately, the one special request we had wasn't adhered to. A sirloin stir fry with no mushrooms. (The server let us know you couldn't do that dish no mushrooms without substituting the side; wish we would've known before the food came out) the server attempted to argue that we said no tomatoes, but reluctantly took the dish to the kitchen to get fixed. Regardless, after another 15 minutes, once the rest of the table was done eating; and wanting refills, my mom's food finally came out correctly. We got our refills and expected to quickly be done with the ordeal; but it took another 20 minutes for the server to come by and ask if everything was "alright". We asked for our checks, to which he replied if it was going to be all together. Again, just reminding you, we told him when we ordered it would be separate checks. The checks were split correctly, thankfully. And two of the guests paid with cards, and I paid in cash. On my $30.30 tab I gave $40 expecting change, and the server had the audacity to hand me $9.00 and ask if I wanted the .70 cents. Once more, being in the industry, its customary that if you're not going to give exact change to a guest you just round up..... We gave him tips reflecting the service we received. One tab tipped $5, my parents tipped a $1 (on $58) and I tipped $1.70. What gets to me the most is the manager, in a blue long-sleeve Applebee's shirt was too preoccupied hanging out behind the bar talking to the female servers to even think about doing table visits (this could've all been avoided had he done that). Not only that, but our server spent most of the night with our table, and one other, but was too busy watching the basketball game on tv to pay attention to us. I'm sure this is not the way Mr. Gore or Mr. Verlander would want their establishment run; and that you all pride yourselves in training, so I'm positive this isn't how you would want your restaurant run. I had no problem with the the third party delivery service. My problem was with the way the food was packaged by the restaurant. The plastic containers do not keep the food warm. In addition, all of my food looked like it had been hurriedly thrown together and, rather than the condiments being packaged separately, they were packaged with the food itself. I ordered raspberry tea, but the restaurant did not send a straw with my order so I drank from the cup. I assumed they had mistakenly sent me unsweetened tea until I got to the bottom of the cup and found the raspberry syrup. Definitely better to dine in when possible. read more

Walked in, and the hostess didn't know where to sit us even though we saw 3 tables open. Finally we're sat, ordered our food and it was fine. Then when we got our appetizer we realized we didn't have silverware. Waited 10 minutes for our waitress to check on us, never did. So I got up and walked to the front of the restaurant to ask for it. Waited over 40 minutes for our food and apparently we were "waiting for the fries to be done". Our waitress never asked if we wanted refills either. Not to mention the cleaning lady was BEYOND rude to every customer that asked her a question. Finally to top it all off the burger my girlfriend got was awful and I (again) had to go to the front of the restaurant and ask the hostess for a box. Where to begin? First off I understand that many businesses are dealing with the issue of being short staffed, but this went beyond a "due to being short staffed" issue. When we arrived we were told it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait. Ok no problem. While sitting there I noticed not one but four host standing around doing absolutely nothing. There were several booths unoccupied but for some reason they told everyone coming in that there was a wait and several people left. We finally got seated...20 or 25 minutes later we were still sitting there Not one person came by to take our drink order or anything...we were just sitting there. We asked a guy bussing a table to ease get our wait person so we could order. He looked at us and walked off to the kitchen. A minute or two later he came back continued to pick up the other table and never said a word to us. We decided to get up and leave. On they way out I told one of the 4 hostesses what happened and the reason we were leaving ..she just looked at me like if she didn't understand English and did not say a word. Not an apology, no offer to get a manager. Pretty much a quiet F.U. is how I took it. Rudest staff I have ever seen. We went to Chili's right across the street and received above and beyond service from the staff and food was great. Maybe Applebee's should have the staffed trained at Chilis. I also reach out to the Manager at the time from Applebee's and got a half ass apology and an "I will talk to my staff because this is unexceptable" excuse that most managers who could care less use. I work at a hotel that is near by I will be sure to inform our guest about the horrible experience I had and will let them know about other places near by that will treat them the way they should be treated. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT come here. I have had two horrendous experiences. We had a group visit from NY and wanted a late dinner. We headed to Applebee's since its down the street and...oh lawd. Big mistake. My friend ordered the ribs and as she was eating them, she got a piece to separate them. I'm not lying...there was a cigarette inside. LITERALLY inside. We were speechless and couldn't believe it. It was unused. We called over the manager and he was obviously embarrassed and shared in our bewilderment. He apologized profusely and took her bill away. We would have accepted the apology if only he had held back from saying "nobody in my kitchen smokes ma'am." Excuse me?!! My friend is a holy roller and she does NOT smoke. Why would we lie about something like that. We showed you the cigar literally cooked inside the rib. There's NO WAY we could have put it in there. And how are you gonna tell me that not one single person smokes??? Seriously My second experience there was during the finals game: cavs vs. golden state and it was super busy. (Go warriors) Our server came took the order, brought the food...and never came back. We dealt with like 4 different servers to get our drinks, right order, refill, and to close out our check. The server walked by after we had payed and asked if we needed help. At one point she cussed in front of us when we pointed out we were looking for her. I have to say I normally don't expect much from commercial franchises but it's clear when there is a true issue when the manager on duty would rather place the onus of the issue at hand on our waitress instead of proactively listening to a true form of constructive criticism. For our waitress being her first day in the job I'd have to say BRAVO for your unparalleled service. Started with attitude at the front door because they will not put a highchair at a booth due to safety. So were put at a table that was turned so that two of the chairs were in the isle or safety area mentioned earlier. The walls where we sat had food splatters all over it and hand smudges. The kids steak was supposed to be 6oz was closer to 2oz and overcooked. Kids apples were to sour for the kids to eat. I am disappointed every time I go to this branch. I keep going back every so often because I remain hopeful, considering I enjoy their drinks and the location is ideal for me. Last week when we tried it out again, the server was friendly, but she took forever (10-15 minutes) to bring an iced tea refill. I ordered the Chef Bulgarelli's Stuffed Rigatoni and tomato meat sauce. When I order it I asked for extra sauce because I like my pasta to not get dry. The waiter agreed and put the order in-when he brought the food to the table, I asked if they added extra sauce because it didn't look like it-the server Saul said, I would want more sauce. He then went to ask for more sauce-to my disappointment he came back and said there's a charge of $1.69. Really? If the server agreed I needed more sauce and didn't know there was a charge-TO ME AS A CUSTOMER-I would have given the customer extra sauce and waived $1.69 charge. That's really really pathetic and I'm totally disappointed. The manager comes over and apologizes -for what? You didn't fixed the problem Sir, you repeated the problem and apologized for having it! My family experience here was pretty good. Although we did wait about 10 minutes before they came to take our order, everything after that was ok. The food was all right, and hot and the waitress was nice. There aren't many good places in El Paso we have discovered....it's sad. I have to agree very slow service, having to ask twice everytime for drinks and waitresses are very forgetful. My wife ask for fresh jalapeño and we never got it till my wife ask again but then we said forget it and we paid and left. Is it me or have they gotten more expensive? My friend and I went to this Applebee's. Service was great, no complaints. We got the spinach dip and the chips were stale. :( I usually enjoy spinach and artichoke dip even from Applebee's but the stale chips kind of ruined it. For the entree I got the oriental crispy chicken salad, which was ok. I've ordered it before where they would put the dressing separately so you can put how much or how little you want. This time, the salad already had dressing mixed in, but it was very little of it. I didn't mind too much, but my friend who ordered the same salad had to ask for more dressing and more crispy noodles since she barely received any in her dish. Overall, the food was mediocre, nothing to rave about. I'd eat there again but only if I didn't have any other choice. read more
